Overall an okay visit but there just seem to be many more hostel abut that are in better shape and with rooms that are not as dated-dark. Staff- Simon great, Marco good, woman with attitude not so much.

Thank you for review, sorry to hear that you found the Posada a little out dated. Here at Posada del Abuelito we are considered to be one of the nicest Hostels in Town and part of the reason for this is the Charming Home, and the attention to detail and love we have for this place and our guests! We stayed for five nights in a private room, shared bathroom. The room was spacious, really comfortable bed, and clean, and the showers had hot water at any time of day. For us the highlight of our staff was the excursions organized by the staff here. We went to visit two indigenous villages, which was really informative. Simon arranged for...

A lovely place, highly recommended. I stayed there for 3 nights and enjoyed the space very much. Its very well located so you can pop 'home' regularly. Its got a great ktchen and is very well run and looked after. It did not seem like much of a sociable place, but I suppose this depends on the people who are...

Two quaint interior courtyards, a chill out room with a fireplace, great new kitchen, hammocks (comfortable well proportioned, swing nicely, good weave) small private rooms, but not without character. Abundant bathrooms, so you never have to wait around to do your morning bathroom routine. A practically all French staff sometimes gives you the feeling that you are in some laid...

This place is great on paper. Nice location and beautiful but the atmosphere of quietude is spoiled, not by noisy guests or traffic but by the staff....who would NOT stop talking. In fairness, the 10pm till 8am quiet time is roughly adhered to, but during the day the young workers would talk to each other and when no one else...

Great place to stay, excellent and warm ambiance by fellow travellers and staff. Blocks away to downtown thru a nice walk in this charming and old Spanish town in the middle of the Chiapas jungle. Nice to have hot water and Internet : )

I've been several times in san cristobal in different hostels and posada el abuelito is my favorite one now. Staff is helpful and very kind; rooms, kitchen and yard were clean all the time (even restrooms!). But the best part was breakfast, simple but delicious (you must try the guava-banana jam!!). Oh,and there are hammocks!

This is a really lovely hostel, with friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Very clean toilets and showers with hot water all day. Free WiFi, very tasty breakfast and many blankets for the cold nights. Our check-in was the fastest as possible. Simon welcomed us great, answered all questions and was extremely helpful. We enjoyed our stay and can recommend it!

We came to San Cristobal for a few days and ended up staying for a week because the hostel was wonderful. Amazing communal area that catches the sun. Excellent breakfast! 2 eggs each and delicious home made jam. Very friendly, homely feel. Amazing trips to be booked through the hostel and they even arranged our bus to Guatemala. If you...
