Friendly staff. Quiet area. Pool was clean but the hot tub was cold; let the staff know but nothing was done. Room was a bit small and had to kill a couple cockroaches. Bed had a sagging, lopsided mattress.
Hotel Baluarte named after the old historic fortress just on the opposite side of the road has a lot oing for it both in location which is very good, handy for all the main tourist bits and the local shops, and yet so near to everything the location is quiet as well, and being a medium sized budget hotel with full facilities including a restaurant, room service and lovely roof top swimming pool with ample room to sit and swim, staying here I was personally taken back in time to a typical 3 or 4 star Sol or Melia hotel in the Spanish Costas in the 1980s If you don't mind walking, but not too much, and don't expect a lot of smiles from reception this is a lovely basic but comfortable hotel option for Veracruz.
Baluarte is not a new, shine hotel, but is convinient because of his location. Rates are fare, have a nice swimming pool to get out of hot weather from Veracruz. 2 blocks away from Malecon, La Parroquia old fashioned cafe, 5 blocks away from downtown where you can find any kind of stores : clothing, food, city hall, 2 blocks away from mexican navy museum, and 5 minutes away from Veracruz aquarium. Rates are around $ 750.00 MXN and $950.00 MXN per night depending on the room space. Free WiFi, nice restaurant, have fare prices, but have no traditional mexican food, so this is something that dissapoint. Rooms are clean, LCD tv, cable tv with most popular on USA and local channels, Air conditioned, and a clean bathroom. Sorry but if you need something to print, they have no printer, but have 2 desk computers with free internet access. Something to keep in mind, there's no safe box on the rooms, so if you need to keep something away, you have to leave it at hotel front desk. Good parking lot, no major issues to take your car. Local Taxi's have fare rates beetwen $30 and $80 MXN depending on destination. Sorry but i'll never take bus, so i have no idea about local bus rates. I hope this will help you to take your best vacation travel to Veracruz. Regards 🙏🏼…
Our room was on the small side (just a double bed), but it was spotless. There's a nice outdoor pool on the 1st floor, and a restaurant/bar in the lobby area. WiFi was eh. Covered parking. Within walking distance of the malecon and lively zocalo. Overall good value and I'd def stay here again.
The hotel is decked out in decor from a few decades ago. It is convinitely located blocks from the port and some restaurants. Everything is walkign distance from this place. My father, brother, cousin and I visited this hotel and even late at night we walked to and fro to local restaurants with out a problem. They have a pool on the 2nd or 3rd, or 4th floor. Don't remember, they provide you with pool towels. Staff is friendly and accommodating.
