Just returned from a 7 night stay with wife and 5 year old son. We were in an Ocean View King to start, but then upgraded to a Corner Suite on the 15th floor at the Club Tower. The Corner Suite is simply breathtaking.

Let me start off by saying that I went into this vaca with a grain of salt in my vacation expectations because of past all inclusive experiences. Don't...More
Extremely happy with our choice of holiday recently. The staff, facilities and atmosphere were fantastic. My son, aged 4, and I enjoyed everything the resort had to offer - the pools, the beach, kids' club, the restaurants were all welcoming and very well-maintained. All of...More
Jul 14-18 - We had a great time there. It's our first trip to Cancun and we are spoiled now! It's hard to top this hotel. All the restaurants are good (even the buffet's are good, they change theme daily), we were told that the...More
Our stay at Hyatt Ziva in Cancun was awesome, are the only words I can explain. They upgraded us in the turquoise building to a beautiful room with a hot tub on our deck. Most of the food was wonderful and Julian, bartender at the...More

Most the dine-in restaurants just want to make sure folks don't look like they just got off the beach. Bastille's requires long slacks and collared shirt. We didn't eat there because my husband simply didn't feel like getting dolled up. Other places are more relaxed but Mercado (the buffet) was the place that said no tank tops to my kid, though we did see others dressed far more casually - it might just depend on the person who greets you at the door upon arrival and how he/she interprets "casual" vs "too casual". I did point out they need to be consistent if they want to enforce such regulations.
Non-motorized water sports, such as kayaks can be rented for free as far as I am aware. My son (16 yr old) rented a kayak, and I didn't get any room charges. He didn't have much money on him either, aside from a few dollar bills for tipping staff.
We did a lot at the hotel, ate like horses, drank like fish...ordered room service whenever we wanted and left the hotel with no extra charges. My dress code gripe aside, the staff was very nice and generally try to accommodate. They also ask about food allergies or dietary restrictions before seating you, which is quite considerate. I will say service was a bit slow at Habeneros and Tres Cervesas (in-house brewery), but maybe we were just especially hungry on those occasions.
