At Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All-inclusive Resort, opinions on value are split, with some guests deeming the resort fairly priced despite extra charges for certain amenities. The rooms, while celebrated for their cleanliness and vistas, have drawn criticism over noise levels and size. While the spotless environment impresses many, a few guests have encountered cleanliness inconsistencies. The resort boasts a range of amenities, though overcrowding and service variability have been noted. Its lively atmosphere is a hit for some but may overwhelm those seeking calm. Service is generally commendable, especially the kids' club, although dining can involve waits. The resort's location earns plaudits for its scenic oceanfront and easy access to local attractions.

For 25 years we've celebrated our January anniversary in a warm location to get out of the PA cold. This was our first time at the Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe but won't be our last.

The hotel is very large and laid out in a very organized way. We received a link to The Resort Guide and all we needed for our 10-day stay. We made our dinner reservations, read the menus, and never had a problem with the time we hoped to dine. Each day was a list of activities. It is a valuable tool for every guest. We were able to text the number provided and would get an immediate answer to our questions. Customer service was outstanding.

We enjoyed the meals we had at each of the different restaurants. Vella was our go to for breakfast, the pool bar for lunch, and the reservation restaurants all 10 nights. There was enough variety that we never got bored. Service was outstanding in the reservation restaurants. Vella was always very crowded, and service was inconsistent. Due to the crowds, it was difficult to walk from the table to get your food. The servers had the same problem. Possibly having a restaurant requiring reservations be available for breakfast and brunch. This would allow time for the switch to a dinner menu.

This is a family resort. We have never seen so many children. This doesn't bother us in the least because we have 3 children and 5 grandchildren. We are an older couple who like watching and hearing children having fun.

The rooms appeared to be recently renovated. We had a balcony we enjoyed on days it rained. The room was meticulously cleaned daily with the fridge restocked with what we consumed the day before.

There was never a problem getting a chair at the pools or the beach. We didn't see any chair saving during our stay, but occupancy wasn't at 100%.

I'll be honest, I'm surprised by the negative reviews, but each person's expectations are different. Our hopes and wishes for our 48th anniversary were met and exceeded. We travel a lot and enjoyed our 10 days at this hotel.

Trip review for the Hilton Mar Caribe, Cancun, MX, Jan 12-22, 2024

For those who do not want to read the full review, here is the BLUF:
Overall: 9/10. This is a brand-new Hilton resort that transitioned well from the Royal Uno. I have yet to assign a 10/10 to any hotel in which I have stayed as that suggests perfection; I believe the senior management would agree there are subtle improvements to be made, though I do rate the staff and management as 10/10. I do not hesitate to recommend this as a great resort for families and adults. Great food, drinks, atmosphere, entertainment, ambiance, beach and people. We shall return next year.

Full, and lengthy review; grab drink and settle in.
We flew by Southwest from Austin, TX, direct to Cancun, arriving at 1030 AM. There was confusion and delay in finding our contracted shuttle service, eTransfer (cost $80 round-trip). We were delayed leaving the airport by 30 minutes and the promised refreshments were not in the shuttle as contracted. It is a 10-mile drive to the hotel, taking about 20-minutes, beverages during transfer were not a major concern, rather the annoyance they were paid for and not delivered. We arrived at reception around 1130 AM, long before official check-in., and greeted warmly and given refreshing wash clothes for face and hands. Our baggage was, other than our small personal bags, taken for future delivery to the room.

We booked 10-nights on points in a standard room, one room, king bed and large balcony. I am Diamond and we were graciously upgraded to the Enclave (E) level, same room type, however with the E benefits. This began with a private check-in area for Enclave guests, adjacent to the E lounge. The process was quick and efficient and we received the teal band with our IR door opener, worn on the wrist. The colour of the band identifies, status, E, Diamond, under age, etc. During check-in we were graciously offered and partook of a refreshing adult beverage (AB); the first of many. Following check-in, we went to the E lounge had another bevy. Irving was bartending and after serving us drink, he gave a quick introduction to the lobby and walked us over to Chala.

The Chala bar is an outside roof top restaurant/bar. During the day is exclusive to E, at night it opens to all for the shows. We ate lunch there, the offering being a variety of different ceviche expertly prepared by Mauro. We met Jose, our concierge, and he brought the food to us. I was like a kid in a candy shop, fish, particularly raw, is one of my favorite foods; we feasted like kings, washing it down with copious ABs.

A comment on the alcohol. There was a wide selection of liquors, mixed drinks were usually stiff, read strong and well made. Beer selection was modest, but adequate. Tecate and Tecate light, Dos Equis, Bohemia dark and Pilsner, there was also alcohol-free Heineken. My preference was the Bohemia Pilsner; however, I believe it is only available at the E level, not by the pool or beach. Since most of my beer drinking was on the beach in a cabana, it was Dos Equis, not an issue. All the bars were skilled at making delicious cocktails, in particular I recognize Josef from the E lounge, he created his own unique cocktails, which were outstanding and different every night, which my wife loved. As a go-to for me I like an old fashioned and experimented with a Mezcal OF, delicious, as was the espresso martini. If my memory is correct there are 4 bars serving the 5 restaurants, Noriku and La Luce shared a bar. There was the main bar in the lobby bar, Chala bar (E during the day and open to all for the shows), pool bar at the Seasalt, swim-up bar and the beach bar. There was plenty of variety to satisfy all tastes. Handy tip. We borrowed, though I recommend bringing, a small cooler, enough for a 6 pack. We would take 4 beers and 2 cans of sparkling water, iced down, to the beach. The beach is a fairly good size and we sat at the opposite end from the bar, the cooler ensured we had “emergency” beers. Some complained of the early closure of the lobby bar, 11PM. If you plan accordingly, perhaps ordering a couple of drinks before closing, you can enjoy staying out until midnight. I don’t think it is unreasonable to close at 11, the later the bars stay open, the greater the opportunity for intoxication and adverse events. Unfortunately, the E lounge closed an hour earlier than posted at 10, this was by far our preferred watering hole.

After eating we went back to check-in to determine the room status; it was ready. Our porter escorted us to the room, giving as an introduction to the property as we went. Our room was a well-appointed single room, king bed, padded bench and table, large enough for two to dine. Large bathroom with a big soaking tub, which my wife enjoyed, separate shower with a rain head and separate commode. Amenities and hairdryer provided. At the E level there were a couple of gifts, a Hilton branded beach bag and additional amenities. There was lots of storage space, no issues there. The balcony was big, with two chairs, that could fold flat and stool, plenty of room to lay out. We were on the second floor of the building directly below the sundeck, there was only one floor above us. The room abutted the beach, the distance from our balcony to the beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean was about 35 yards, depending on the tide. The view was spectacular. We faced directly east and so had the sunrise shedding its light on us every morning. I would like to say we were up each day before sunrise to watch the majesty, alas, that would be a lie, we usually stayed up too late playing cards with a wonderful family from Australia we met; we only made it out early enough twice. The room had a mini-fridge, ours being stocked with Tecate light, Dos Equis, sparkling and still water, small bottles of white wine with red on the counter. There was a coffee maker, which we never used in favor of either the coffee shop, Azulinda or the E lounge, both offering made to order coffee and tea drinks.

Food.
Breakfast, there are two options, the international buffet, Vela, and the coffee shop, Azulinda offering toasted sandwiches, various yogurts and baked products. I often grabbed a sandwich with our first coffee of the day, two Americanos. Vela had a huge variety, omelet bar, taco bar, assorted potatoes, sausage, bacon, cold cuts, to include smoked salmon, pastries, cereal and others. I enjoyed the omelets on several occasions. There was a made to order taco cart with hand pressed tortillas. Alcohol was available with breakfast, Vela has a bar, and the mimosas flowed. With the Enclave came the ability to order ala carte in the E lounge, which we enjoyed a couple of times.

Lunch. Since we usually ate a late breakfast around 10 AM, we had little need of lunch. Vela does serve a lunch buffet, items varied or featured; we did not avail ourselves of the offerings. When we did want a nibble, we enjoyed either the ceviche at Chala, an E option only, absolutely delicious, or the Seasalt with a wide variety of cooked to order pizza, hamburgers, hot crispy French fries, wings and many other tasty comfort foods.

Vela was a popular eating establishment, especially at breakfast, this means busy and there could be a few minutes wait to be seated. We did not wait longer than 10-15 minutes. Vela shared the same building as Maxal, the Mexican restaurant, which was used as overflow seating to Vela.

Dinner, a far more complicated review. There are 4 specialty restaurants and Vela. We ate at each specialty restaurant at least twice, except Noriku we ate there thrice and Vela dinner buffet once. Other than Vela, reservations are HIGHLY recommended. The web page you will be able to access after arrival allows you to book the same day and the following, this should be a priority task. Prepare to be flexible in dining time. If you end up with a late seating, eat a snack at Azulinda or Seasalt in the late afternoon. If you have a Facebook account you can join the Mar Caribe fan site and you will find the menus. For us, Maxal was, by a small margin, our favourite, mostly because of the extensive menu offerings. We love seafood, which is in abundance at all restaurants. A general recommendation, to get a taste of most offerings we ordered a couple of appetizers each, to share and each a different entre, again to share. Typically, we drank wine with dinner, and the included offerings were good, though do have a fine wine list for an extra fee which some may find more appealing. I had the sea bass at Flama, the steak house, my wife had the rib eye. A word of caution, she ordered medium and it arrived medium rare, how I like mine; I would suggest clarification with the server on exactly how you want it cooked. Regardless, it was delicious.

La Luce is the Italian restaurant which is well known for made to order pizza. We ate there twice, the first night, while the food was delicious, the service was a bit slow. To be fair it was a Friday night and the resort was pretty full. Our second dining experience was a private room with the restaurant manager and Chef coming in to greet us. In situations such as this we asked the chef to use his judgement and make whatever, it was not a mistake, a tasting menu; the meal was INCREDIBLE. One of the dishes was pasta, it was prepared in a wheel of parmesan with burning brandy poured into the mix, the entree was surf and turf. Dessert, they walked in with two books, yes hard back from a shelf. The centre was hollowed out with the hollowed section covered by rice paper embossed with the restaurant name. Chef took a torch and ignited the paper to reveal a most delicious chocolate truffle. The entire dining experience was incredible and I think the best of any meal we have had at the three AIs in which we have stayed, to include Tulum and Playa Del Carmen.

Noriku. This is really two restaurants, a traditional ala carte and a fixed menu hibachi; we ate twice at the ala carte and once at the hibachi. As with all the restaurants, service was attentive and friendly. As I previously mentioned, we both love seafood, so the nigiri and sashimi were delicious. There are many cooked items for those not keen on raw seafood. The hibachi was great fun, the chefs were funny and entertaining. As they were preparing the entree, two separate dishes were served, a salad and a sushi roll. The entree was a combination of rice, vegetables, beef, chicken and shrimp, no pork.

The buffet for dinner was our least favourite, though I am not saying it was bad. Buffets, in general, can be a bit hit or miss depending on the offering and the time under the heat lamps. They do have a carvery, the night we were there was prime rib, it was very pink. My wife had hers cooked a little longer on the grill.

We were fortunate to have 10 nights, many do not. If you have 4 nights, do the 4 specialty restaurants. If I were to rank order dinner, it would be, Maxal, Noriku, La Luce, Flama and Vela. Again, the best meal was our private dining experience at La Luce, not included in the AI price. We found Flama to be too loud with the music playing, but not loud enough to leave. The scoring ranged from 8/10 to 10/10. We used room service a couple of times on the same day, once for breakfast and lunch. Breakfast was ordered at 8:30 that morning, took 90-minutes to arrive and the eggs were cold. Lunch, on the other hand, arrived in 35-minutes and was hot and delicious. I believe this to be a reflection of the busy time for room service. If you want room service for breakfast, order the night before.

Shows?Entertainment. The first night we arrived, Friday, was the Michael Jackson tribute, it was excellent and a must see. The next night was a fire show, both at Chala, which is open to all at 8PM. We did not avail ourselves of any of the other entertainment, other than the lobby musicians, as we ended up playing cards with another family. There was a casino night, which was fun and we caught the end of it. Chips were given out and used in play, the person at the end of the night with the most “money” won a prize, which, our night, was a generic Cancun T-shirt. The prize would have been more fun if resort themed. There are many organized pool activities which we enjoyed watching.

The beach. Lovely white sand, cabanas and umbrella protected loungers. The water was fairly rough and red flags were flying the length of our stay; however, this did not stop us, or others from entering the warm Caribbean Sea (Mar Caribe). There are both lifeguards and security on the beach, keeping a close eye on safety and security, respectively. Their presence allowed me to relax more than I normally would. For us, going to the beach, the salt air, sun and doing nothing are the main reasons for going to an all-inclusive resort. Of the 3 Hilton AIs in which we have stayed, this was the best beach. There are fish to see, so a mask and snorkel is worth brining. Pro tip. The towel distribution point is next to the lobby building, I recommend, after breakfast, stopping to get the number you need. I saw folks getting down to the beach and having to walk back-up for towels.

Exercise. There is a gym though I am embarrassed to say I don’t know what it looked like, nor the spa. My wife attempted to get a same day spa appointment for a pedicure, however they were booked out several days; book as soon as you arrive. I know folks who went and said it met their needs. For me getting around the resort was exercise enough. While there are elevators, stairs are often more conveniently located. I estimate I climbed around 400+ steps a day. For instance, getting from the beach to Chala is over 100 steps.

Miscellaneous. There is a great child water area with slides and a giant bucket that fills and dumps water. Be aware, the first time your child goes under the bucket, be with them, it is forceful, you need to determine if it is suitable for your child. There is a kid’s club and child related activities. There are 4 plunge pools on the sundeck in the “adult only” area, children were not allowed in these pools. A fun activity is to walk up to the 11th floor and walk the perimeter of the hotel, which is horseshoe shaped, the views are spectacular. It is worth doing both day and night and, don’t forget a walking beverage; stay hydrated. We always travel with bar games, Yahtzee, Quidler, Pigs and Uno. It is a fun way to kill half an hour while enjoying a cocktail, or two. There is a smoking area on the roof top, behind Flama, it is basic, uncovered and clearly does not encourage smokers. I enjoy cigars but was well aware of Mexico’s position on smoking in public places, I elected not to bring them. If I was prepared to spend more for the room, those with plunge pools are particularly inviting, nice to have a private pool. The pools were not heated, I don’t know if they can be; the water was a comfortable temperature.

On Friday from 5 to 6 PM the hotel hosts a reception for Hilton Honors guests on the 14th floor (if you are not a member, join before you go). There is a specialty drink, delicious hand foods and a woman who plays the alto saxophone, she is fantastic. There they have many members of the management team for a meet and greet. The other two Hilton AIs at which we stayed did not have this and we enjoyed it immensely, it is great to be recognized as a loyal Hilton guest. In the past 4-years I have spent 26-months living in Hiltons, mostly before I retired from active duty.

Tipping. Yes, it is an AI tips are included in the room rate. I found additional tips to be appreciated but not expected; a good tip does ensure faster service, particularly on the beach. We tipped U.S. dollars though Pesos would be equally appreciated, most day we were between $40 and $50 in total. The staff work 6 days a week and they are on the go constantly, they are there to make your stay as fun and memorable as possible, tip as you see fit.

Last, but not least, staff and management recognition. In no particular order:

Jose, our concierge, was fantastic. He gave me his WhatsApp account so I could contact him with any issues. He made sure we had the dinner reservations we wanted, he arranged ceviche outside of usual serving time, he would come to the beach to check on us, he brought us drinks and arranged for our special dinner at La Luce; he was significantly responsible for making our stay exceptional! He told me they will introduce butlers at the E level, I hope when we return next year, he will be a butler. This is a young man who will end up in senior management.

Zayda, Jose’s boss, was equally exceptional. She emailed and called several times to check on us and a couple of times handled minor issues. She was also present at the HH reception and took the time to introduce us around. She called

Mr. Larrondo, the General Manager. We interacted by email before our arrival and received a personal note in the room at check-in. We met him at the HH reception. Certainly, it is his leadership and guest service style that has filtered down through the ranks. He is skillfully managing the complex process of conversion and opening of this new Hilton resort.

Eduardo, food and beverage manager. He became aware of a poor dining experience and sought me out. After that he met with us several times, ultimately ensuring an exceptional dining experience.

Victor, restaurant manager. Went out of his way to ensure a great dining experience.
Alan, waiter, he got us the cooler for the beach and helped with many bar needs.
Samual, beach waiter. He was proactive, anticipating need and delivering before being asked and very fast.

Andres, waiter at Vela, had mimosas on the table the moment we arrived and was proactive.

Mauro, ceviche chef, Chala. Very friendly, creatively and passionately customized the menu with what we wanted to eat. I miss his food immensely.
Rita, waitress, Chala. She too was friendly and proactive; we never had an empty glass.

Ricardo, waiter at La Luce during our private dining. Great server, very friendly and attentive.

Josef, bartender at the E lounge. He created his own cocktails and the ones we tried were all delicious. He was fast and efficient. We usually sat at the bar and enjoyed many conversations with him.

Brandon, bartender E lounge. He was a very friendly man and he handled my frustration with a breakfast order well. Makes great drinks.

Aurilio, bartender. He would immediately stop what he was doing to make a drink, always had a smile on his face.

Isabel, server, main bar. She served us more drinks than anyone else, mostly as we sat outside playing cards with our new friends, we had a group of 7. There was a situation with a very drunk group of girls playing very loud music and smoking on the deck, both prohibited. We asked them to stop, they ignored us, Isabel stepped in and put a stop to it.

Chef Leonardo Trujillo, executive chef of the resort. He went out of his way to introduce himself to us at the HH reception. His leadership was evident in his subordinates.

Chef de cuisine La Luce. It was his personal touch and attention to detail that gave us one of the best meals we have ever eaten.

Suky, bar manager. She was everywhere and made a point of introducing herself and ensuring we could call upon her.

Our summer 2023 was extraordinary. Our Family, on this occasion of 7 people, Adults and Children, enjoyed facilities that were as new as they were beautiful.
Since our arrival, everyone's open smile makes us feel very welcome. While you wait to check in (😃Karen) you enjoy a refreshing drink and a flavored towel that helps you adapt to the heat of Cancun.
And from now on, we began fully enjoying food and drinks, while we settled into the room.
The Os buffet has a very wide variety, with the attention of Ivan, Manager, always attentive to ensuring that all
diners have everything they need to delight everyone, including us, adults and children.
During the stay we enjoyed all the delights of the Aora restaurants (we enjoyed a private dinner with a show included), grateful to Octavio and José (Chef) who exquisitely surprised our palate with each dish they prepared for us...... (Allowing during its preparation, the participation of my Grandson John, making a memorable family moment) and all those who collaborated to experience an exceptional night.
We also thoroughly enjoyed dining at Palotinte, exquisite food (tuna puff, avocado roll, corn cream, super delicious chile en nogada and to close marquesita with sweet cajeta), from Chef Sergio and the constant and friendly attention of Eduardo R .to make us feel at ease.
And what can we say about the delicious dinners at the Italian restaurant Miamare under the tutelage of Chef Ely, who surprised us with exquisite lobster among other charming flavors.
And what can we say about Kids Uno, a special place that with all its activities made our 3 grandchildren play, have fun and develop their creativity during their stay.
All of them, without exception, the four ladies Beth, Karla, Andy and Gen, are very committed to maintaining an excellent environment of entertainment and fun for all the little ones.
And another group that made our children's stay fantastic was the Animation team... Nicole, Diego, Michel, all of them with their games in the garden made everything very fun.

We really had an amazing summer…. Facilities, food, show every night (we really enjoyed Muchel Jackson), exquisite food, everything excellent……. and now we are all talking as a Family in our living room of the villa, the best of the best is the warmth of all the people who do their job, a dedicated vocation of service so that all the guests and especially, we CJ Family, have a great time unforgettable holidays 2023!!!

I have been to many Hiltons all inclusive resorts and this one I would not be coming back, especially during holiday season. One major reason is the ratio between number of rooms to restaurants, especially when you are operating on 90 to 95 % capacity. We (two families) party of 8 were there for 5 nights between Dec 24 thru Dec 29 and the resort was super busy. This puts a lot of pressure on staff, from keeping the property clean to keeping up with room service and not to mention restaurants. All 4 restaurants for dinner had long lines and that puts pressure on chef's, waiters, and all staff, resulting in poor customer service to all the folks visiting. The dinner duty manager at Flama was rude and was not willing to accommodate us even after multiple requests for our party to sit together. Overall, the staff is friendly, and I do feel for them as they are overworked!!!

Hilton has dropped the ball on maintaining/ designing this property, purely from restaurants perspective. This resort needs to have at least 3 more restaurants to satisfy the demand during busy season.

Pros:
The rooms are nice and very comfortable, the view is exceptional, and the beach is super clean and one of the best beaches I have ever seen. Pools are very clean and can accommodate large group of people. Also has separate great pool area with slides for kids. Food by the pool was also good. The buffet at Vela is good, not great but its available all day and is your best option for quick bite. Resort is only 15 to 20 mins from airport. Towel service was good. Good night activities.

Cons:
Rooms were not cleaned on time, had to remind hotel staff multiple times. Restaurant lines for every restaurant (up to 2 hrs). Food overall was ok. Dinner Manager at Flama restaurant provided very poor customer service. Breakfast experience at La Luche was horrible as it was al le carte. Very long wait and food took even longer and was average. You are better off going to Vela for breakfast which is buffet. Teen area is too small for the size of property and the gets very busy.
During check-in. the staff did not provide any details regarding the whole dinner reservation issues, so we could have been more prepared. The property is not as clean as other Hilton resorts, again because of how busy they were. The hotel gym is also not great, need improvement and better equipment.

Dear sohaila882, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are grateful for your positive comments about our rooms, exceptional beach, pools, and the convenience of our location. We’re pleased that you found our property to be clean and enjoyed the food by the pool, as well as our buffet at Vela. We sincerely apologize for the challenges you faced during your stay, especially during the busy holiday season. We understand that the high demand during this time can strain both staff and resources, leading to longer wait times, especially for restaurant reservations and room cleaning. Your comments regarding the dining experience and the service you received at Flama are concerning, and we will address them with the restaurant management to improve both the efficiency and the quality of service. We also regret that the teen area and gym did not meet your expectations. We will review these areas as we continuously strive to enhance our guest experiences, particularly when the resort is at full capacity. We truly appreciate your feedback, and it is our goal to make improvements so that future visits are more seamless. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back during a less busy time to provide the experience you deserve. Warm regards, Guest Experience Manager Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe All-Inclusive Resort

I have traveled to Mexico 10 times and stayed in a variety of hotels, but my experience at the Hilton Mar Caribe was by far the worst. After reading reviews, I was optimistic that this would be the perfect destination for my family’s Christmas vacation. We booked a premium ocean view room in April 2024, specifically because it had a bathtub, which is essential for bathing my 1-year-old daughter. Unfortunately, our excitement quickly turned into disappointment due to the hotel’s appalling service.

Upon arrival, we were downgraded to a different room without any prior notice or explanation. The downgraded room did not have a bathtub, and when I raised the issue at the front desk, I was told there were no available rooms with bathtubs except for suites. Despite my frustration, the only option offered was to pay the difference to upgrade to a suite—an expense I was essentially forced into just to meet my family’s basic needs.

While the oceanfront walkout suite was beautiful, the service we received throughout our stay was abysmal. We requested early housekeeping each day, as my youngest naps at noon. Despite their assurances, not once during our seven-night stay was our room cleaned on time—or at all. For the price we paid, this level of neglect is completely unacceptable.

The situation worsened two nights ago when my 6-year-old discovered a cockroach in our bathroom. Seeing a cockroach in what was supposed to be a premium room was both shocking and revolting. We immediately reported it to the front desk and requested to speak with a manager, only to be met with indifference. The staff offered no solutions, no apology, and no urgency to address the issue.

This trip has been a complete disaster. Not only did we feel scammed into paying thousands of dollars extra instead of getting what we originally booked, but we also endured horrible service, an uncleaned room, and cockroach infestations—all with zero accountability from the hotel staff or management.

I expected much more from Hilton, but this experience has left me deeply disappointed and disillusioned. I cannot recommend Hilton Mar Caribe to anyone. In fact, I strongly advise others to avoid this hotel at all costs. If you value your money, your time, and your family’s comfort, do not stay here.

We spent a quick 2 nights here in late October as a family of three. Our 4 year old had a blast at the kids club and asked to go over spending time in the pool, on the beach or even the water park. He loved it there!!! Special thanks to Mary, Sam, Andy, Erandy, Arany, Silvia, Dash and Jamie at the kids club! We never had any doubts that our son was loved and cared for.
With a short stay we were only able to experience two restaurants. The Italian-la luce - food was really good- the cream soup, the risotto and the crème brule cheesecake were amazing. The kiddo loved the pizza. But go early for the view of the sunset!
At Maxal you have to get Joel! The drinks were fantastic, the aguachile, esquite, both soups- tortilla and seafood- so good, then main course- enchiladas with mole, birria quesadilla- it doesn’t sound gourmet but with that sauce- don’t skip this meal! Dessert- you can skip that here- the tres leches cake had an odd gelatin on top of it, and the churros were cold.
The buffet for breakfast was pretty good- great drink service- the chilaquiles were great and so were the omelets! Lunch and dinner buffet could be better/ have more options. For instance there was no fruit at lunch or dinner- very important for the kiddos, a taco bar would have been amazing at lunch. The foods looked very fresh just not a lot of options.
The rooms were very comfortable- I wish the air would go a bit lower but not the end of the world. The views of the ocean are stunning. The drinks are so fresh- I ordered a mango daiquiri and they made it with fresh mangos!!!
The beach was nice and the service at the beach was really good as well!

My husband (Diamond) and I stayed here for two nights and I would not recommend this to any Hilton honors member.
Upon check in our status was not acknowledged - no big deal but typically higher status = more benefits and this was not the case at this resort.

There is an enclave members option that has a bar with premium alcohol, reserved beach chairs and a separate pool (typically as a diamond you are included in these lounges/premium bars and we were not). Incredibly disappointing given the loyalty diamond members show to the brand.

Beach service was terrible - one server for at least 40+ chairs - furthermore not all drinks the resort had to offer were served at the beach. They also did not offer water bottles at the beach (unless you purchased a cabana) which I found odd considering water bottles were provided in the lobby bar and your hotel room. Instead, they offered an igloo cooler with pour your own water style service. Think little league soccer practice style.

For all my air conditioning people - this hotel is not it. Our room was so hot fluctuating between 70 snd 75 - never getting to the set temperature and the gym air conditioning was broken as well making it 77 degrees (25 Celsius).

The food was good but be aware reservations are required for all restaurants - reservations were very hard to get and filled up extremely fast due to the size of the resort.
In the morning the breakfast buffet had a line and wait time - it was absolutely chaotic and way too crowded.

This hotel is very very crowded with not enough space, restaurants or beach chairs to accommodate the travelers. I’ve stayed at countless other hiltons and have yet to find one that can barely accommodate the amount of guests it has the capacity for. If you are a rewards member, air conditioning connoisseur or beach goer like myself I advise you to stay clear of this resort.

I recently went to the Hilton at the end of August with my wife, my daughter and my best friend. Absolutely everything about the hotel was fabulous. The rooms were up-to-date, there was a large variety of areas where we can hang out whether it's by the pool or by the beach, the bars were always stocked with great drinks, the staff were always super friendly and helpful. There is a kids area with a splash pad and waterslides which my daughter loved! The entertainment was amazing as there was always something going on every night. In terms of specialty restaurants, the Mexican restaurant was great, the steakhouse was good, the Japanese restaurant was very fun and entertaining, the Italian restaurant had good food, but the service was very long (2 hours), so if you eat at the Italian, try to order the same thing so that they can bring your food out consistently and quickly. The wine was marked up very high.... $30 (CAD) bottle was marked up to $170..... so try and bring your own wine if you want to save a bit.

Special shout out to Santos, Christian and Kax for the amazing entertainment.

Overall we were very impressed and pleased with the experience. We would recommend to anyone with a family looking for a great time with lots of variety. The beds are comfy too.

Thank you!

Stayed six nights redeeming Hilton points for a family trip with a 10 and 12 year old. Have Diamond status, was upgraded prior to arrival from Oceanview room to a Pool Patio suite. This was great for us, instead of two queen beds in a standard size room with a nice view balcony we got a 1BR suite with two twin Murphy beds in the spacious living/dining room. Best of all, walking 10 steps to the pool from your room sure beats hauling pool/beach stuff down elevators and stairs. Rooms felt recently renovated. The restaurants were all good, its an all inclusive so I don't expect 5 star dining just good quality which it is. Some complaints were heard about the basic poolside food, but basic burgers/pizza/etc is what you'll find at an outdoor snackbar. Making reservations is important, it opens 48 hours before hand so we'd do so everyday for two days in advance. Entertainment staff works really hard all day/night long to make things fun, Arturo and Whisky knew our names after the first day. Free kids club seemed good option for young kids, my kids were a little old and didn't want to stay. Unfortunately the beach was red flagged all 6 days since the waves and winds were so bad, still took walks everyday on the beach. Overall the resort is clean, well maintained, the restaurants and 24 hour coffee shop met our needs, and it was a fun/relaxing place to spend several days

We stayed at the Hilton Cancun Mar Caribe for one night using a free night award, and the experience was exceptional. Upon arrival, we were welcomed and escorted to a private area for Diamond member check-in, which was a pleasant touch. This area, called Enclave, is conveniently located next to the Diamond member bar. Non-Hilton Honors Diamond members can also purchase rooms with these extra amenities.

The Enclave includes exclusive access to a rooftop pool and bar, where we enjoyed a silent party with two DJs after dinner. Our anniversary dinner at Noriku was memorable; they remembered our special occasion without a reminder, and the food was delicious. We opted for a table instead of hibachi, and it was a great choice.

A tip for future guests: bring your swimsuit if you’re waiting for your room. We didn't bring ours and regretted not being able to enjoy the pool or beach during the wait. The beach offers a private area for Enclave/Diamond members and a booth for beach activities like jet skiing. Notably, the beach was free of seaweed, which is common in Cancun.

On our checkout day, we enjoyed a buffet breakfast after participating in a Zumba class and water aerobics at the gym. The hotel also features a kids' water area and a variety of activities throughout the day. It's the perfect place to stay, relax, and have fun without needing to leave the resort.

Our ocean-view room with a balcony was beautiful. Additionally, we received an Enclave bag with sunscreen, insect repellent, and aloe, which we kept and used on other trips—a nice touch. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.
