The Marriott Cancun is often praised for its exceptional cleanliness, with guests highlighting the spotless condition and meticulous upkeep of the rooms. While the hotel's value proposition receives mixed reviews due to some unexpected charges, the quality of service and cleanliness often receive commendations. The amenities, including dining options and entertainment, are generally well-received, although ongoing construction is noted.
Room quality is appreciated, especially the ocean views, though some guests encounter issues with access. The atmosphere is a point of contention; the room decor is admired, but the loud poolside music divides opinions. Service is typically regarded as attentive and outstanding, though not without occasional lapses.

Stayed new year’s week in an ocean view King + sofa bed w/ balcony. No complaints about the room, accommodated our family of 3 just fine - housekeeping made our sofa bed and stocked our room with plenty of bottled water (not a Pepsi family which was included in minibar w/ some local beers). Food was generally good, only bad meal was a dinner at Hana Polynesian where the choices were minimal; liked the breakfast/dinner buffet at Mexican restaurant and the breakfast at Hana was good too; the Izakaya restaurant was best (Antonio was excellent), but we could only secure one reservation on the app (AIMB - download prior, regret we didn’t download in advance cause reservation choices were limited holiday week).
Biggest complaint - difficulty in securing a pool/beach chair - it was insane how people reserved chairs, especially at the pool. I’ve stayed at a lot of hotels and this was by far the worst chair squatting I’ve ever seen. To make matters worse, fresh towels were hard to come by. I couldn’t secure a towel several times in the four days we stayed - this was morning, afternoon and evening. Really frustrating, so we just brought down hotel towels and hoped to find pool towels (only one pick up area which was annoying). The pool itself was nice and large and heated, and the hot tub was a good temperature. We spent most of our time at the beach, just laid towels down there and swam in the awesome ocean there, cause there was no where to sit by the pool. Bar service at the pool was fine and they did a nice job making food stations (tacos, paella) available around the pool.
So overall, I really liked the place, but felt like it was just too busy over the holidays.
*Booked USA Transfers again to get to/from airport/hotel. Waited about 35 minutes at airport for the ride, but the early morning pick up at hotel was right on time and stress free.

The Marriott chain is a guarantee of quality since they generally have a standard in all their properties. Now this Cancun hotel changes to an ALL INCLUSIVE concept. Comments: -You can say that the service of almost all the staff is truly outstanding, they deserve a 10. -The point to consider is that at reception they never informed which consumption centers are operating, schedules, the all-inclusive concept, etc. Cross out ❌ for this. -The all-inclusive is not as usual since they do not put alcoholic drinks or snacks in the room, only three soft drinks, as for the restaurants, they are small but the food is very good although not many options. -The hotel has not yet finished its remodeling, so there are areas that remain closed. -In this hotel, like most of the area, the beach area is very small and has strong waves. In summary it can be said that it is a good hotel but if what you are looking for is a conventional All Inclusive it is not the option.

My family and I have been to Cancun more times than I can count. This was our first time at The Marriott. Here are what we felt the pros & cons were.. PROS: 1. The staff is fantastic!. Any problems that occurred, they attempted to correct immediately and followed up to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. 2. Water slides, kids pool and kids club (AKA Kids Camp) our 7 yr old enjoyed all of these amenities. This is a very family friendly resort. 3. The location on the hotel zone...the sand is powder soft and the ocean is the prettiest I've seen anywhere. The property is pretty as well. The main entrance is a beautiful place for family pics (in case you need something besides the gorgeous ocean backdrop) 4. Good entertainment at the pool 5. Rooms are nice size if you get partial or ocean front, the Views can't be beat.
Now for the not as good parts.
CONS: The food was definitely not as good as other resorts. Buffet was not stocked at one dinner and selection on the buffet was minimal. At one dinner, we were the first table to be sat (early bedtime for kids after full day in the sun) and buffet food was all cold. 2. Most dinner restaurants required reservations and we had to ask for a manager because there was no availability at any of the restaurants 3 of our 4 nights stay. (The Mgr was extremely helpful and got us reservations) 3. There is no buffet option or actual restaurant options at lunch. Only pool side food options. Pizza, tacos, ceviche..all 4 days of our stay. 4. They do not have an Italian restaurant (a favorite in my family)..and I give the Burger spot and the quick Pizza spot 3/5 for food quality. 5. Room Service menu is very limited.
Overall, this is a nice resort and I feel if they improved the food options and quality, it would be a much better place for the price. Many other resorts have a dessert shop and or more options at the restaurants. I know I am forgetting many details, but I hope this info helps travelers heading to Cancun!

A no-frills stay. Do not book this hotel expecting luxury.
We stayed here for 3 days/4 nights and that was definitely the max I'd want to be here.
The property has been somewhat renovated but is not as new and modern as we thought it would be. Lots of small maintenance issues throughout the resort - peeling paint, broken or dirty tile, pool umbrellas that don't work, dirty elevators that smell like gasoline, old towels and loungers, the list goes on. Rooms were updated cosmetically by adding wood paneling but still feel old/dated. Bed is comfy and we stayed in a suite where you can hear the ocean waves crashing below - that was nice.
Loungers at the pool are hard to come by. There is a culture here of reserving chairs with a towel early in the morning so by 9am they're all gone. The hotel does nothing to combat this. There are nice cabanas available but they're expensive and stay pretty much empty. We were quoted anywhere from $200-$400 USD for one day's use of a cabana.
The main pool is super loud, crowded and filled with kids. The adults pool is much nicer but very limited loungers and space to set up.
Check in process was bad - took forever and had to stand in a line rather than wait in a lounge like most all inclusives.
Service isn't great. Feels like an inexperienced staff who doesn't care. Pool waiters don't check in more than once. Expect to wait for a table at restaurants even when you've made a reservation. Restaurant waiters seem to be doing their best but are overloaded and come once to take your order and then you never see them again. I had to ask for utensils and napkins so many times throughout our stay.
Food is not good, I would say 5/10. Some stuff is edible but pretty much exactly what you would expect from an all inclusive. Same ingredients used over and over at every restaurant. Very bland and underseasoned. Breakfast buffet had many options but didn't seem particularly sanitary and many items had been sitting out cold and dry for a long time. A la carte restaurants are okay but not great - similar to cruise food. Sushi was a bit below grocery store quality. Mo's Burger was absolutely disgusting. The sports bar didn't have food at all for some reason. We were dying for something better to eat by day 3.
One high mark was housekeeping. They did a great job and shockingly there was a turn down service each evening.
Beach was okay but very rough water in January. There are lifeguards. Only 1 of our 3 days had swimmable water and we had an amazing time playing in the waves for hours.
I would likely choose somewhere else when coming to Cancun next time because we travel as a couple and prefer a higher end experience with much better food and service.

We have been to 8 all inclusives in Cancun. Chose Marriott this time because it was recently renovated and compact as we were traveling with an infant. We HAD to checkout after one day because of the construction and cleaning noise. See attached video. 8 hours of non stop super loud machines with no one being able to give an end time. Front desk said we could leave and if we checkout at 3pm they will refund the rest of the nights.
We booked Moon Palace Grand and left before 3pm after just one night there. Now they are refusing to refund and asking us for written proof that front desk said this. This is a deceitful thing to do and I did not expect this from Marriott. Other cons:
- The place is dead. No welcome drink (there’s a welcome station that was unmanned all the time and had flies.
-The service inside restaurants and from front desk lacks the warmth you generally associate with Cancún all inclusives.
-There is ZERO entertainment in the evening. No fire shows, no local dances, absolutely nothing. Nada. Even the low end RIU we stayed at a while ago had nightly entertainment. The concierge pointed me to a solo person playing the saxophone and said “enjoy”
-There is no spa. The massages are at a beach cabana in 95 degree weather during the day.
-The kids club was the only saving grace. My kid was able to enjoy it for a couple hours. Note that there is no I door area for kids younger than 4 years to play, even supervised by parents.
-Long wait in the restaurants even though resort looked empty and more than half the tables in each restaurant were unoccupied. They look severely understaffed.
-Front desk is unhelpful. They didn’t offer a different room or any other solution to the noise. Again, watch the video. It’s like being in the middle of a construction zone (though they claim construction is finished). Our baby slept in his stroller in the lobby because we couldn’t go back to the room.
We’ve been scratching our heads at the positive reviews? Maybe the recent reviews are from people for whom this is their first all inclusive experience?
In the end, I am glad we left after one day and saved our vacation by going to the Grand that is 10x better than this Marriott. I am disappointed that Marriott promised a refund and didn’t come through and cheated us out of $3000. Been trying to talk to them and they simply keep telling me to talk to Expedia. And Expedia says the property manager is refusing to approve a refund.

We stayed at the Marriott Cancun All Inclusive for four nights (April 27 – May 1), knowing that the property was a work in progress. The positives about our stay were the food and the attitude of the staff, and as LGBT+ travelers we felt completely welcomed. The Marriott.com renderings and description of the property bear little resemblance to reality. We chose the Marriott because we were moving next door to the JW Marriott for nine nights for the remainder of our trip.
The best food was found at La Isla, breakfast at Hana, late afternoon tamales in the lobby, pool area taco cart, and the bakery. The Japanese restaurant and Sports Bar were barely average. The staff are extremely friendly, but lack training and consistency.
Check-in was pleasant, and our room upgraded to a partial ocean view from resort view. Unfortunately, our room key wristbands had not been programmed to unlock the door, and required a trip back to the front desk. On check-out day, our room was inaccessible at 11:45 am, even though a 1:00pm checkout had been cleared at the front desk at 9:00 that morning.
Our room was conspicuously missing a desk and chair, along with a second chair for the small round table. The room also lacked drawers and closet space, and luggage racks were unavailable.
The Kid’s pool/water park was still under construction, and escaping the thump of techno was impossible, except when sealed in your incompletely outfitted room. The pool area and beach lack sufficient shaded seating for those not wanting to broil in the Cancun sun.
The hotel can become a solid four-star property, but that appears to be a distant hope for 2025 and beyond.

My wife and I stayed at the Marriott Cancun All Inclusive over the 4th of July Holiday. After checking in the bellman escorted us up to the room with our luggage and accessed the room and we dropped of the luggage and went back down to eat lunch. when arriving back to the room we had problems accessing our room with our bracelet key and also for the first few days because our wrist keys kept getting deactivated in which we had to spend a few hours and several trips to the front desk to get this figured out with no access into our room. We eventually had to have the bracelets replaced after the third time. Also, the safe would not work so we had to wait over 90 minutes one day to have it changed out. BTW the chat feature on the App is useless if the reps on Marriott's end do not read the responses and just give generic and useless responses. We also had problems with the door opening and it would take several attempts since there was obviously something wrong with it. Security and maintenance also acknowledged this problem but ignored it and made us deal with the situation each time we accessed the room. Overall, besides these issues we did enjoy our stay and know that this is a new all-inclusive concept for Marriott and we are hoping that with time the resort flourishes and gets better. Security is everywhere so we felt very safe while on the property and never did leave the resort. The service that we received at the bars and restaurants was excellent with a few language problems since we do not speak Spanish.

We enjoyed a very clean hotel and were treated to an ocean view room upgrade without an additional charge. The ocean is just steps away from the hotel. The pool activities included water aerobics with Angie along with Zumba among many activities lead by a very energetic staff. All of this gets you moving when you need to stretch or get moving after relaxing at the pool. I do wish there were more evening activities like trivia, bingo, movie by the pool or dancing. This all- inclusive resort left very little to be desired with their first class service which starts at check-in and continues with very attentive waitstaff and 24 hour room service. Everyone there was extremely helpful from meeting our rides to go on excursions to the great room bartender and waitstaff. Elizabeth at the towel bar was also very nice and extremely accommodating when booking a cabana. There was one night where they had a bbq by the pool that was very good as well. The only issue I had was when eating at Hana. Several of the options for dinner were an extra charge and two other items I wanted for dinner were not available leaving a limited choice of menu options. Thank goodness they had other choices of eating options to choose from. All in all, we enjoyed our stay.

Not sure how much value this has as this hotel is closing on March 13, until sometime in 2024 for renovations. I have only minor complaints about the our stay. 1. Champions was far too cold for my husband & I. 2. We had a ground floor room which was across from Hana restaurant and there was noise from some machinery that we could hear thru our door. 3. Of course there were charges on our bill that were not ours, but we got a call on the way too the airport that all had been corrected.
Otherwise I thought the room was good and all the workers were pleasant and helpful. There was twice daily cleaning/ turndown service in the room, which seems to be rare these days in the States. The pool area seemed more crowded than the beach area, which was fine with us as we enjoy sitting by the ocean.
Rumor is the hotel will reopen as All Inclusive, but I have no confirmation of that, which is too bad as there are great restaurants quite close-by. The next door JW will still be open, but there was some work being done over there around the pool area.

We checked in around 5:45 pm after our adventure activities from Tulum, btw we are coming from a different hotel. Rafael who was the front desk agent, his checked in process was awful. He only asked for our passport without any greeting at all. I told him our passport is in the luggage and we have our drivers license but didn’t accept it. He just gave us the key bracelet with even saying amenities of the hotels, restaurants name and activities or even told us if we need anything from him. It was just horrible all in all, Rafael should not work at the front desk if he have that attitude. The bellman help us out with the luggage and of course I asked bellman what are restaurant in the area which he politely answered. And interesting part is when we got to the room, we kinda expecting something with a resort view (because that was we booked for), but we end up getting a back concrete view of a different hotel. I ask them nicely if they have available on the front side of the beach as it is our first time and wedding anniversary but then they didn’t help us out. Robert the manager on duty I spoke to but he didn’t do anything at all (we have checked the website and they still have ocean view available) he was pushing us to pay extra to get ocean view. He should not be in that position if his unable to manage upset guest. The hotel has few selection of restaurants, I would suggest look for a better all inclusive hotel with varieties of restaurant open every day. The Restaurant hostess and waiter, and bellman was really nice, only positive side, Overall experience was just poor, I would not recommend this place find a different Marriott, Hyatt or Hilton all inclusive.

We were there Nov into Dec. Party of 3. They prefer you reserve to avoid disappointment if they get full, but the resort wasn't busy when we were there so we often decided last minute where to go, and they had room, so let us in. No guarantees if they are busy. They link you up to the dining app when you arrive, which is separate from the Marriott Bonvoy app. You can sit on the beach and make your supper reservation same day. Again, if the resort is busier, maybe you'd need to plan a day or 2 ahead. There's a concierge in the main lobby who will help you out with it all if you need.
The lobby piano bar features solo instrumental type entertainment, but not every night. They had a band come and play outdoors one of the 10 nights we were there. It's a very quiet resort. Suited us to a tee, but go elsewhere if you want to party.
There are more places to choose from in the Cancun area.
