Nestled in a tranquil location, the Waldorf Astoria Cancun is lauded for its serene luxury and meticulous attention to detail, from the sublime design to the personalized service that reviewers find exceptional. While the waters may not be ideal for all beach enthusiasts, guests appreciate the hotel's seclusion and fresh facilities. Luxurious amenities, including sprawling pools, a lavish spa, and various activities, are consistently celebrated, although the high cost of dining and services is something to bear in mind. My husband and I just completed a 4 day stay at the new Waldorf Astoria. There were many great things about this hotel.
First, many thanks to Frank, the pool concierge for always being helpful throughout our stay. He always made us feel welcome at the pool, and made sure all of our needs were met. In addition, he also ensured we had 2 perfect seats while watching the Chiefs playoff last night. Alahondra, the welcome manager, for following up throughout our stay to make sure everything was perfect. Enrique in Chaya restaurant at our first dinner arriving at the report, making sure every dish was perfect and water glasses never empty. Lastly, I do not have the name of the gentleman who went out of his way to get make up brushes from an outside store since I forgot all of mine.

Here are the pros of this hotel:
1. Attentive service-every since person is eager is please, and if they do not have something at the moment, they will find it for you
2. Well appointed rooms-We had a suite with 2 bathrooms, 8 table top dining room, walk in closet, and an outdoor bathtub/hot tub. Very comfortable beds
3. Pool was heated, and faced the ocean
4. Spa-massages were amazing, the outdoor space with pool, hot tub, lounge chairs was very relaxing. I would recommend going several hours before your massage

Cons:
1. Sargrassum is very abundant. The staff works very hard to clean it throughout the day, and the hotel has placed netting out in the ocean to minimize it. Although the hotel can not control what mother nature produces, there are other locations in MX that have much better water front.
2. 3 restaurants. This could be ok, however, 2 of them have the same menu for lunch and dinner. We only stayed 3 nights, so it was perfect for us, however, I could see the menu becoming redundant if staying for a full week. Also, this is a new hotel, so maybe it is limited due to making sure all food is prepared perfectly?

Overall great resort, but taking one star off due to lack of beach/nice water, and lack of variety of food options for those who stay for a week long vacation. For those who enjoy the pools, attentive service, and spectacular rooms, this is a wonderful choice!!

My wife and are on the flight home after spending eight blissful days at the new Waldorf Astoria Cancun. We were originally scheduled for seven nights but it was so wonderful, and our schedules allowed so we extended an extra night. From the moment we arrived Guest Experience Manager Alejandra Vela made certain our every need was attended to. The hotel is stunningly beautiful, and the staff could not be more friendly. The service was five stars in every department. While the hotel had a few new opening hiccups, everything was addressed promptly and professionally.

We originally booked an ocean front room and were upgraded to a room with a swim up pool. The rooms with the swim up pools are in the shade at this time of year and do not have a view so we opted to upgrade to an ocean front suite which was stunning. The terrace with soaking tub and walkthrough shower is breathtaking. One night after dinner at Malpeque, housekeeping decorated our room with rose petals and had drawn a rose petal bubble bath in the outdoor soaking tub. I recommend the ocean front rooms and if I had known, I would have requested a room in the high 20’s as we were above the pool which meant the terrace could be loud and with less privacy at times.

We dined at all the restaurants, including in room dining for dinner, and did not have a bad meal. Dinner at Malpeque was outstanding and Chaya was wonderful for easy, good meals for as many days as we were there. Pool staff Franco, Isabella, and Ezekiel were so kind and thoughtful. Manuel at Chaya provided top notch breakfast service. Our favorite bartender at the Jao Pool Bar introduced me to the Bandarita, a customary Mexican cocktail I’d never had. There were also a few evening wine socials in the gorgeous lobby with live music.

We did not exit the property for eight days and found the food and beverage selection more than sufficient. The gym has very good quality and selection of equipment and was not crowded. That said, the hotel was also at limited capacity since it just opened in November. Although the hotel is connected to and offers day-passes to the Hilton Cancun, it was at full capacity, and we had no reason to leave the property.

Although there were a lot of babies and toddlers there, I would not consider the hotel necessarily kid friendly as there are not a lot of activities for older children. My wife and I needed to just relax for a week and this property was the perfect place to do it.

All in, the hotel is stunningly gorgeous, the staff are friendly, prompt, and professional, the food is delicious, and the setting could not be better! We will return!

Everything here was very nice and the service was extremely good. The interior of the resort was very modern and was designed extremely well, including the room we stayed in which was on a higher floor and included a outdoor hot tub. The pool was also extremely enjoyable and includes 2 pools with a lot of sitting areas and beach seating. The food at all of the restaurants was really good including breakfast. You must order breakfast at the restaurant and it is not a buffet. The dinner and lunch options at the restaurants were all very high end and were put together very nicely. The resort also provided many activities such as yoga, morning exercise, etc. The spa was also very nice and includes a private pool relaxation center with an amazing ambiance. During our stay we were also gifted a teddy bear as a souvenir for the trip from the resort which was very nice. Overall our experience at this resort was 10/10 and we would definitely like to come back again.

This hotel is my favorite hotel in the world, if I am permitted to declare a tie with the Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh. The reason for this, as I know that the locations could not be more different, is the people who work there. Whenever I asked a question, the answer was always yes; even when I could tell they were trying to figure out the best way to provide it, they led with the intent to help me and make me feel comfortable. Let me say that the location is paradise and the hotel is gorgeous, but to me, the most important thing a hotel can do is make me feel welcome, and the entire team I saw at the Waldorf Astoria Cancun did their part in this. People do not travel and spend extra money to only stare at the ocean - they do it for that legendary Waldorf Astoria service. I noticed the little things, such as four complete sets of robes and slippers in our suite because I had indicated four guests on my reservation, to the bigger little things, such as a quietly thoughtful gesture by the manager after a conversation he had with our group earlier.

Part of my enjoyment of travel is to always go to new places, but I confess that I will be feeling the pull for some time to return to the Waldorf Astoria Cancun. Thank you for that.

This hotel is a slice of peace-on-earth in paradise.

The hotel architecture is a symphony of space and flow. The almost empty beach is manicured and maintained and the rooms have beautiful stretches of white marble and soulful views of the sky and sea. The sound of the waves echoes through the resort with no traffic noise due to its gated access and secluded location.

From the moment I was greeted by Juan Carlos, who went above and beyond, at the doors, to the moment I took a long last look, this stay was perfection.

So many lovely people on this wonderful team of professionals contributed to my stay, from Armando sharing his knowledge of the area to Miguel and Ricardo in the elegant restaurants on site. Anna made the magic happen with room service whenever I called and Eduardo and other gentlemen delivered fantastic cuisine. Roman, by the pool, brought out an amazing meal with unbelievable presentation.

Just wonderful. My husband and I are planning to return already!

My wife and I stayed at the Warldorf Astoria for three days late March 2023. If you are looking for a secluded resort, this maybe for you.
The hotel is located about 20 min south east of the airport and very remote. it is not close to any night life or restaurants outside the resort. 3 days would truly be max I would spend there.
The hotel is new and beautiful. We got an upgrade to a suite which was very specious for two or a family up to 4 possibly.
I must say that the service was impeccable from the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out.
The reasons we only gave 4 stars are the following:
The hotel being remote didn’t offer any night life activities such music performances of any kind.
The hotel offers 3 restaurants that are ridiculously expensive. Prepare to spend over $400-$450 a day per person which included two alcoholic drinks per day.
For example their flag ship restaurant offers 10oz New York strip for $110 US dollars. Surf and turf was around $140.
If you are looking for a beach like we were, honestly this is not the place for you. The beach is literally about 6-7 ft wide. You can not sit right by the water and truly enjoy it. And apparently from late March to Oct they have a serious seaweed problems. It’s truly not the hotel’s fault however, we felt like they could have done better job cleaning it using some kind of a machine.
The pool service was great however, yet pricy.
If you decide to visit I would highly advise you to bring plenty of Sun screen or plan to spend $40 (US) for one bottle. We felt like they totally gouge you. We actually had a rental car and we did explore other high end restaurants and we spend a fraction of what we spent for dinner at the hotel.

We were really excited to be one of the first to stay in November 2022 when it first opened, and the resort did not disappoint! The resort was beautiful and very clean inside the rooms, lobbies, spa. We did not want to leave the resort at all!
The environment overall was very relaxing, with two pool areas with a lot of lounge chairs available throughout the day. There weren't too many people around, but we stayed when it wasn't at full capacity during its first few weeks of opening.

Every staff member we interacted with was super friendly, helpful, and very attentive. As soon as you got to the pool area, a staff member helped you adjust your chair, open up the umbrella, laid out fresh towels, and offered bottled water right away.

We also had a phenomenal experience dining at two of their restaurants, Chaya and Malpeque. Every morning for breakfast we were always greeted by Naomi, who was extremely friendly and accommodating and always sat us where we preferred. Our waiter, Israel, was great and remembered our food and drink preferences each morning after just a few days.

We had dinner at Malpeque twice during our stay. The first night we weren't too happy with some of the food items we ordered, however, the staff and chef were very accommodating, with the chef coming out to apologize and giving us an additional appetizer dish and giving us a complimentary dessert that night. Our waiter, Enrique Alvarez, was very nice about the whole situation was well, giving us some tastes of tequila and inviting us to come back again to have a custom off-menu dish prepared and a personalized tequila tasting. When we came back the second night, the food was absolutely delicious! Enrique remembered us, and the chef prepared a special chicken dish with sides, that were very flavorful and seasoned well - honestly one of the best meals we've ever had! He also gave us the promised tequila tasting, where we tasted 5 different tequilas and mezcal. He was also very knowledgeable about each, giving us background about every one we were tasting and how it was made.

Overall, the resort and room itself were gorgeous, with an amazing view of the ocean, as the resort is right on the beach... you can see the ocean from your bed! However, the staff made the stay so much better than expected, I couldn't recommend this resort more!

It's 2:51 a.m. on our 3rd night and we are fast asleep only to be awakened by a long bang and the realization that someone opened our door with a key (thankfully, we had used the extra lock). I approach the door and hear someone speaking into a radio. I ask why they are here and the only response is "error." After 5 mins, the guy walks away. We cannot fall asleep for the next 2 hours. No one from the hotel explains what happened until we check out and complain. While this might not happen to you, do you want to take the chance when there are other nice places in Cancun?

Speaking of checkout, at 8:30 a.m. this morning, there was a line four couples deep waiting to check out because they had only one person working. Poor staffing when you know how many people are checking out. The staff is by far extremely friendly and helpful individually, but there is something wrong with their systems. At checkout, they said that the person going into our room was a maintenance person (at 2:51 am?!?!) and that the room was marked as unoccupied on his sheet. There was no explanation for how this could happen or why no one provided a note or reach out to us in the morning to explain what happened. They did say that because we pre-paid our hotel bill and it was our last day they were limited in how they could make it up to us. They gave us a $300 credit to our bill (which was less then half of the nightly rate we paid for the hotel and less then 20% of the charges we racked up at the restaurants and pool). Just enough to lower our blood pressure, but not enough to make us happy. They did say they would provide us with a free night's stay in the future, but who knows if that will ever be used.

The resort is nice and well appointed, but there is a limited variety when it comes to food. The only memorable dish we had was the pork belly tacos (although paying $28USD for a glass of Kendall Jackson Sauvignon Blanc was memorable, too). The tacos were delicious, but after three nights there we were looking for something different.

The weather was great and it was pretty cool how the outdoor dining seemed to have a constant breeze. The pools are all very shallow (less then 4 feet is the deepest part) but are nice to cool off in.

Note - when you are walking along the beach, only four people can walk side by side. It's small. Also, there is a light (in the smoke alarm?) on the ceiling directly over the bed that flashes at night. If that might bother you, try another place.

We stayed at the Waldorf Astoria Cancun after staying in Tulum for several days at a different resort. This was our first trip to Mexico, and we were traveling with two kids (a seven year old and a 14 year old). We enjoyed our experience here so much that we are already planning to go back, and have referred friends/ colleagues who will be going soon too. A few finer points: the resort is gorgeous, relaxing, and has a wonderful ambience. It’s located about 20 minutes cab ride from downtown “hotel zone” and from the airport. The beach is beautiful but wasn’t entirely swimmable during our visit due to sargasso and strong tide, which is no fault of the staff and they did spend a good deal of effort trying to clean up the seaweed daily but could not control the weather ;) We are ocean lovers, but there are so many beautiful pools here that our kids never even minded, they had a blast hanging out and swimming. We booked the Bali Beds for our visit and they were nice to have right next to the water and we enjoyed the exclusivity of service from Fernando by the pool while we relaxed. He made sure we were constantly cared for. The other staff was also phenomenal- room service kept our room clean and there were always fresh towels, we booked a swim up room and enjoyed the private pool which was clean as well and perfectly secluded. Other staff at the restaurants were extremely accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed at mealtimes, including going to extra lengths to make sure we were seated outdoors when we requested it. In concierge and front desk, Alejandra and Astrid made sure we never needed anything, and when our teenager lost her expensive headphones, they found them and brought them to the room right away. The peace of mind and ability to relax here was really an extraordinary experience. We will definitely be back and highly recommend you visit. Everything was clean, food was fresh and delicious, and we felt very safe and taken care of/ pampered the entire stay.
Travel tip: if you want or need something, including food that’s not on a ‘menu’, just ask for it! They were very accommodating to us when our kids craved fruit and popsicles, etc.
