Myself and my partner have just sadly returned home from the beautiful RIU CANCUN, we both had a great 2 week stay and all i can say is wow, the staff are incredible and so efficient whether you were on the beach, pool or sitting down for dinner the drinks were flowing. Highly recommend the "mudslide cocktails" if your a coffee lover.
The cleanliness of the whole hotel was on point including the rooms.

The food there was so much verity to choose from everything was cooked fresh and to perfection and tasted delicious and great to know if you fancied other options there was other resturants to choose from.

The beach was stunning, every morning it was being cleaned, you had the odd approach from people trying to sell you bits but they were never pushy but that's part of the experience of being in mexico, dont like it... Off to blackpool you go!

It was just me and my partner were in our early 30s and love a drink and atmosphere so it was great for us, all i will say if your looking for quiet and relaxing i would definitely look elsewhere, the music is pretty much all day and night with a lot of people intoxicated so people with young kids it may not be suitable.

Different facilities such as gym and spa as well as a out door massage bit so you can enjoy the veiws.
Also on the beach you could jet ski for roughly $70 or canoeing you could pay to use the boat for $3 and after that use it as many times as you like, highly recommend!

Smoking/vape vapes are available to buy but very expensive around 25 dollars avoid buying any from anyone selling on the beach as someone we had met they paid by card and took £70 out of her account, you can pretty much but them from any shop. As for smoking theres a destination outside the hotel or a smoking corner near the back of the hotel.

Rooms are nice and spacious, cleaned everyday insless you put the sign on the door if you want it left, drinks are refilled every other day, towels are supplied as well as soaps, body wash and a hair dryer (a pretty decent one too!)

Entertainment is every night, we saw some fantastic performances and its great they try to get everyone involved. There's an on site night club that opens if you want to carry on partying.
Throughout the day theres always entertainment from volley ball, dancing like a tit round the pool, foam partys, bingo and more!

Overall we'd like to thank the hotel staff for an incredible stay and a holiday to remember. Hopefully we will be back sometime soon. Thank you x

We just got back from 10 days over New Year and the hotel was great overall. We were a group of 6 (44,40,23,21,16 and 14 yrs). It is probably more geared towards older children and adults but there is a kids club. We feel we didn’t scratch the surface as there is so many things to do or different parts of the hotel to sit In/try out. The younger ones enjoyed the activities in the activity pool whilst us oldies chilled round the pool watching the world go by. The entertainment team made the activities so much fun (Enrique, Paloma, Lino, Rocco and Jesus were amazing!!). The entertainment team took people from the hotel clubbing which felt safer and the girls had so much fun.
The food wasn’t all that and the room was quite basic and dated, It was clean though and the staff were really friendly. There was a horrible shower coming from the shower cubicle and generally a lot of weird smells in and around the resort. It was also humid in the room and everything felt damp but I think it is only to be expected in a hot country.

The buffet is very smart and we got bored of eating the same things. Go to the steak restaurant early as we tried 5 times before we could get in (I would have preferred a reservation system) the Italian is nice (same food as buffet but presented nicer). Some of the meat was not cooked enough so be careful what you choose.
The excursions were expensive, I wish we had seen the reviews about booking outside of the hotel instead of with the scuba staff. Xcaret and Chichen Itsa are both definitely worth a visit.
The hotel shop prices are extortionate. The kids paid 500 pesos (£20) for 2 bars of chocolate and 2 packs of crisps! The shop across the road from the hotel charged 170 pesos for more items.
The hotel location is perfect if you want to walk round to the strip and the flea market etc. We found a clear part of the fencing to the lagoon and saw a crocodile which was fun.
The clubs and shops are really expensive so make sure you take lots of spending money ($60 was standard for club entry with drinks on a normal evening, Coco Bongo etc is way more!).
Tips - bring swim shoes, book trips outside of hotel, tip early and generously and the staff will really look after you, got to the beach if you want to chill, go to the activity pool if you want it to be more lively. Stick to one type of food each evening so it feels like you are having different meals.
Overall we really enjoyed our break and would go back there again :)

We had a good stay here, however our friends also stayed and they got one of the rooms on the 13th floor that has a 4 foot concrete wall, then a glass panel on top. It was horrible. We were told that if you book with TUI then you are almost guaranteed one of these rooms. The guy on reception upgraded my room to one with a glass balcony as it was my 30th birthday. Good for us but our friends in the other room weren’t happy. Also if you plan on using the gym a lot, don’t book here as it’s pretty rubbish. Dumbbells only go up to 20kg. The floor is tiled and all the rubber has come off the dumbbells. So as soon as you put one down the person working there opens the door and tells you not to drop them on the tiled floor. It’s ridiculous. Lat pulldown machine hasn’t got the part to tuck your knees under so it’s pretty awkward to use. Cross trainer feels like it was built for a small child. It only moves around half the distance of a normal one. Oh and it turns off after about 30seconds. 3 treadmills but one is out of order. The bikes okay. Foods pretty good, the lasagne in the Italian never seems cooked properly, it’s always very doughy for some reason. The sunbeds around the pool all have towels on them by around 8am. The ones that are left are in the shade by about 12 as the sun goes behind the hotel. Not ideal. Anyway these are just all the little points we noticed. Overall it was a good holiday and we enjoyed it

Me and my friend spent one week in Riu Cancun at the end of January. We had booked through TUI, and, as stated in previous reviews, the room we got on the 2nd floor was horrible. The room was located at the very end of a long corridor, and the worst part was the tiny balcony surrounded by white brick walls. Palm trees were blocking the view, the only way to see the ocean was by standing on a chair. Due to the small balcony and lack of sun light, the room was also very dark. I don't understand how a hotel, which markets itself as a five star resort, can even have so low-quality rooms. We decided that we do not want to spend a whole week in that dark cave, so we went back to the front desk and asked for an upgrade. Frank at the front desk was very polite and friendly, and we were able to upgrade for a better room on the 8th floor for 3500 pesos (about 168 euros). Our new room was lovely with an amazing view to the ocean. The beds were very comfortable and the fridge was filled with water, sodas and beer. However, the rooms do need a little update (stains on walls, bathroom light was working poorly, the fridge was very loud, etc.), so the overall room quality is about 3 stars.

In addition, the rooms are not soundproof at all, so if you are unlucky and get party people next to your room, sleeping at nights can be difficult. You can also hear everything that goes on at the party pool during the day (very loud music), so taking a nap is also challenging. I did have earplugs but they didn't help.

The food at the buffet was very good, there were several dishes to choose from. We also tried the steak house and the Japanese restaurant. Some of the restaurants were closed on several consecutive evenings, so we were not able to try the culinary food restaurant, which was very disappointing. I think that if the hotel states that they have 5 speciality restaurants, the guests should be able to dine in all of them during their stay.

The pool area was great. We preferred to stay at the beach on most days, and it was kept very clean every day. We also enjoyed the shows in the evenings, especially the Rock Alive show. The entertainment staff was good, even though we did not like the fact that they were extremely pushy when trying to get guests on the stage to perform humiliating acts. No means no.

The location is great, all the bars and nightlife are within walking distance. Overall it was a good stay, and I might visit again.

at Riu Caribe Jan. 23-30, 2020. very friendly staff, good food, clean rooms.
one thing missing is a small coffee maker in the room- found this very odd. All Hotels have a coffee maker in rooms.
After 7am,people would like to get some fresh air but the exit at the back of the building where the lower bar is- blocked with chairs because the floor is being washed. Can this not be ready for 7am?, only exit .
One last thing is that when everyone is eating, they shake shake shake their salt and nothing comes out. May I suggest that either dry rice or a couple of tooth picks in the shaker will remove the humidity from the salt and will work.

Me and my fiancé stayed at the Riu Cancún for a couples holiday for two weeks. We was a bit worried reading some of the negative reviews but it was absolutely faultless. We had a first floor room on the quieter side of the building, we could still see the sea from our balcony. The room was spotless and the cleaners even put cute towel animals on the bed every few days. Wherever you turned there was someone cleaning the hotel, everything was kept on top of. The staff in the bars were amazing, they brought drinks to your sun lounger and came round regularly, you didn’t even need to move from your spot. The restaurant was really good, plenty of choice even with dietary requirements. We tried both the steak and Italian restaurant, we really enjoyed both. The infinity pool was really good, we enjoyed the poolside entertainment. I would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Mexico! We had an amazing time.

Surprised to see any negative reviews or comments whatsoever about this property. Six of us (Dad, Mom, four kids from 14 yrs old to 22) had an incredible week there. Such hard workers, great food, great location. Anything we asked about was taken care of. Some of the food items did not change day to day but others were always rotated in. Consistent every day were delicious fresh fish, salad items, Italian, super fresh fruit, Mexican (OMG, so good), and desserts. The exact dishes changed day to day with a few the same each day, some of which I loved. Breakfast, lunch, dinner all very good. You have the option of eating dinner at a more formal Italian restaurant or steakhouse. All of the employees bent over backward to please you (shoutout to Miguel in the main dining room!). Beach/pools were great. The beach was beautiful, and the water so warm and blue. Drink servers also roamed the beach asking what we wanted. Four pools on site, all overlooking the beach and ocean- a large infinity pool, a "fun" pool with water volleyball and other activities, a pool with a swim up bar where you can order drinks from stools built into the pool, and a smaller more quiet pool on the other side of the property. All pools had concrete loungers built into the water. Fresh towels whenever you wanted them- no need to bring towels from home. Room service was great and mini fridge always stocked with soda, water, beer. Each morning there was an army of employees cleaning and spiffing up the place, probably over 50 each morning. COVID tests are required to return to the US, and done for free with quick results. Every employee wore masks inside and outside (guests required to wear masks indoors in public places). Sanitizer everywhere, super clean and safe. Note: activities listed on the website said there was free use of snorkeling gear, body boards, and kayaks but no employees knew anything about those or where to get them. Beware of the high pressure tour sales people on site. You can get much better deals across the street (where there are tour companies, a mini-mall, a convenience store, and a pharmacy).

What an amazing trip we had, for a first time ever to any all inclusive resort we chose the most beautiful and luxurious resort! We are thrilled with our choice and our holidays were a brilliant success. Thank you to all the hard-working staff at the RIU Cancun resort, you made our stay lovely and relaxing, I even learned a little bit of Spanish :). I have told all my friends and family about the resort and how fantastic it was. The beach was stunningly beautiful, the hotel was clean and fresh, and our room ocean view was postcard perfect. We woke up to the sounds of the waves and the same waves lulled us to sleep each night. The room itself was well-maintained and the service staff made sure it was clean and in good working order. I truly cannot say enough good things about the staff, they Were really lovely people and always so helpful and with a smile. We left a little gifts for our was cleaning staff every day and they reciprocated with doing a little extra special touch Like rose petals in the bathroom and balloons on the bed and even a puppy made out of towels, all of this made us beat feel extra special. The food was good in general but I have to say that the breakfast was amazing while the dinner at the buffet was just ok. We are looking forward to booking our next vacation at the RIU Cancun next year!

We came to Riu Cancun to celebrate our honeymoon and had such an amazing stay!
Our room was ocean view and did not disappoint, I loved waking up to watch the sunrise each morning from our balcony.

The food at buffet and restaurants were fantastic, a variety of choices and great yummy food. The Japanese was our favourite. We loved that you didn't have to book and that you can go as many times as you like!
The drinks in all bars are great, with a good choice of cocktails, wine and beer on tap. Waiter service is provided as well (which is just brilliant, especially if your lounging around the pool like us.)
There was a party crowd in the hotel at times, but plenty of different pools and areas if you don't want to be involved. Also, good to have a laugh at!
Every staff member works hard to create a great environment for the guests, they work tirelessly to keep the place clean and welcoming .
Big thanks to Frank at front desk for the easy check in, Jose in the sports bar for always putting the footy on and suppling us with beer :) Also, Kevin in the restaurant for the great service. We didn't really get involved in the activities but there's plenty going on if you want to.

We eat great food, lots of cocktails and had a nice relaxing time!
