Seadust Cancun Family Resort offers a vibrant atmosphere and a prime location close to the beach and local attractions, as highlighted by numerous guests. However, the service and value proposition often come under scrutiny, with some travelers reporting inconsistent service and feeling that the experience doesn't justify the cost. While amenities have their upsides, guests have called out the need for improvements and repairs. Room comfort is compromised by cleanliness issues, outdated decor, and noise, detracting from the overall satisfaction of many visitors.

Honest full review here. Trying to help as many travellers as possible.

If you are not travelling with kids, stop reading this resort is not for you.
If you are a Family with kids, especiallh you ger kids, then you might/should enjoy this resort, especially when you manage your expectations ahead of time.

We are a family of 4 (kids age 6 and 4). We went for New Year.
Overall, we had a good time, we made the best of what was available.

The resort and room
Its a decent size, not new, but well maintained and clean. Staff polite and friendly overall.
The main building is shaped like a boat, so practially all rooms have a decent ocean view. For better exposure, request the NE side (left side when facing it from the lobby)
Majority of restaurants/shops/buffet/entertainement are ar lobby level, which makes it quite easy to locate yourself.
Elevators are somewhat slow. And 2 of them (out of 6) were out of order more often than not… which makes for long waits and crowded elevator rides.. not fun.
Infinity upgrade: in my opinion its totally useless… we did not see any henefits from it… dont waste your money.
The room was nice, pretty big, huge bathroom with closet and a safe. Large shower. Not new, but ok for our needs. It was clean, and had no smell.
2 double beds, a table with 2 chairs and a sofa bed. A nice balcony with patio chairs and a table. Pillows are not great… mattress comfy.
There was a mini fridge with soft drinks, juices, water and beers. Was supposed to be restocked daily, but they skipped some days…

The main pool area
The 3 main infinity pools were nice and good sized. Downfall: water was cold, so we did not get to enjoy them fully.
We mainly stayed in the small heated pool, full of kids. Not much to do besides sit there and listen to music. Kids had fun while playing ball or water guns in pool.
Pool area was crowded: no available chairs passed 9-9:30am… we would have to hunt for an empty chair, and share it amongst us 4…
If you don’t like food smells, you won’t be happy. Lots of smoke and smell came from the pool grill resto around lunch time. And people eating around the pool area attracted birds that didnt care if you were there or not. Some people were just plain idiots, purposely leaving food in the open or directly feeding the birds…
Staff was usually quick enough to pick up plates and lonely drinks, so it helped a bit. Besides that pool area was clean.
There are 2 bars: one next to grill (apparently reserved for infinity members, but they didnt really check) and another bar on the lower level of the pool area.

Beach area
Very nice, not too many rocks, nice comfortable white sand. Again not enough chairs: you get there late, you’ll sit on a towel.
There is a beach bar, so that was a nice plus.
Ocean: water was agitated (red flag 6/7 days) and quite dangerous at times (so be careful) but temperature was good. If you are from the North, no issues ;) always a lifeguard on watch, so thats great and not always the case in resorts!
Walking on the beach is also easy and nice. We walked SW towards playa mujeres about 15 minutes. We also climbed to the famous Cancun sign (big hype for not much fyi.. long line of tourists who take their time to take a picture…)

Food and restaurants
Breakfast, there was only the buffet open for general guests. I believe one of the restaurant was open for mexican breakfast.
There was the lighthouse reserved for infinity members only, but i heard food was the same as the buffet…
If you come late in the morning, you will wait to be seated at the buffet (anywhere from 15-30 mins).
Food at breakfast was well varied, and lots of choices to choose from. As long as you are not too picky, you should be satisfied.
Lunch: we mainly ate at the poolside snack bar or the grab and go “healthy” option. Kids loved the pasta and greek salads! Poolside was burgers, hot dogs, fries (if you were lucky to have some, as they ran out pretty fast), chicken wings at time (very good btw) or some grilled meats on the charcoal (by far the mole chicken on charcoal was the hit food of our trip)! Very tender and tasty delicious!
We also went to the mexican restaurant area for lunch. The restaurant itself was ALWAYS closed. However, they had the taco stand outside the restaurant almost everyday. Tacos were good, especially the al pastor.
Dinner: Unless you are an early bird, you will most likely have to wait anywhere between 1-1.5 hour to get a seat at any of the restaurants, even though some of them had plenty of empty tables… we didnt quite understand that. And you had to wait nearby, if not they cancel your table (like really?!) Being with young children, we always ended up at the buffet! One night we decided to wait for the italian restaurant. Overall food was good, but not worth the wait. Nothing we haven’t really seen at the buffet. We didn’t get to try any other restaurants, but the Asian one was always full.
We also ordered room service for breakfast twice. It came in hot, within 30 minutes. Very good service and quality of food. It was also to only way we could have real bacon! Lol
Food quality: in all food was decent. Lots of stews, and mixed dishes. Lots of pork and chicken dishes, very few beef (and all of them were cooked like shoe leather), decent amount of fish and seafood (but it did not always look appetizing). Quite a few kid friendly options (PASTA! Pizza, burgers, chicken nuggets and tenders).
One hit though: they always had a great soup, especially the corn cream.
Fruits: quality was higher than your average resort, so that was a plus. A good variety as well.
Desserts: all tasted the same (bland) honestly. Not very good. Lots of flan based desserts as well… if you have a sweet tooth, you might be disappointed.
Note: no avocadoes, nor real guacamole to be found on site… (nothing in a full week of stay). And I have no way to explain this…
There was a “gelato” and crepe (late afternoon/evening only) outlet near the lobby. Ice cream selection and quality was disapponting. Only 1 person serving, always a long line, service could definitely be improved there! Crepes were delicious though, made fresh in front of you! Chef Elvis was great and friendly! Worth the wait in line for that.
In all, food was not gastronomy level, but was not gastro level neither. If you are not too picky, you will find your happiness somewhere.

Water park
In the front of the resort, there is a very nice waterpark and slides structure. Kid waterpark was nice for kids 2-12. Not too deep, nice slides on the tower or pirate boat and heated water! Big plus! Kids truly had a blast there, and made friends. Slides were nice as well! very fast! So that was also fun for my older one (cold water though).
In the waterpark area, its a no drink zone (not even water!!). So that was a bit disapointing if we wanted to stick around and watch the kids without a drink.. this area was not too crowded, but again, not many chairs or seats… we spent about 2 hours mid afternoon (to get sun exposure) everyday there. Kids never wanted to leave!

Adults pool area
So that area, is really a hidden gem. Every time we went, it was almost all empty. Plenty of chairs, free cabanas (always available for us) and a dedicated bar! Setting was nice, with view of the lagoon and hotel zone. Best sun exposure mid-late afternoon for a nice relaxing nap, zen time (while kids are at the kids club). We made it our daily relaxing zone, and it was much needed and appreciated! 1 nice infinity-ish pool (cold water) and 2 jacuzzi (a little warmer water).

Entertainment and “kids club”
Entertainment was average. Not too many pool activities/games/etc. Shows at night were always full, and often we did not have anywhere to sit… so we ended up leaving, but we heard they were good. We did not do any water activities, so can’t comment on the availability and quality of what was offered. They had a mini golf area, but it seemed always closed… besides that there was not many other activities to do on site.
The “kids club”: it’s in the waterpark section, in an outdoor open area. Activities there we VERY basic. Staff not very warm or welcoming… Unfortunately, my kids could not be together. They have a baby club (for kids under 5) and kids club for kids 5-12. We tried to make our kids stay together, but no luck (staff strict and sticklers for no reason). Our youngest had to stay inside a secluded room, watch movies and tv shows… not so cool… so we did not leave them for too long. Just enough for us to get our zen time at the adults pool lol

The resort is located on the quieter part of the hotel zone. We ended up going to town twice via uber, and process was seamless, safe and not very expensive for the distance we travelled. Definitely worth going of the resort and visit the surroundings and Centro Cancun.

Overall we had a good time and a good vacation in this family oriented resort. The new year pool party was nice, well organized with props and a nice fireworks show. So for that, we were pleasantly happy.
As long as your expectations are not too high, you should be happy and contempt.
Would we go back as a family (with young kids)?: definitely yes! When the kids become older, this won’t be a resort for us anymore.

Hope this helped a few people make your decision!
Safe travels!

We travel the world and have returned to this resort at least twice each year for the past seven years. The staff is accomodating and professional. Each restaurant has a unique decor and the menus are diverse. The presentation of each dish enhances the aesthetic appeal and the food is delectable. The ocean front rooms allow for a great view and the balcony is a great place to relax and enjoy a beverage or just relax on comfortable lounge chairs. The bars offer a variety of special drinks as well as top shelf liquors, and the bartenders are always willing to please. The management staff ALWAYS goes above and beyond by engaging in every detail to ensure we are satisfied. There are always chairs available by the pool, and the pool is well maintained. The beach is awsome and there are always chairs and shade. The entertainment staff is very talented, friendly and engaging. The club rooms are very spacious and well arranged. Thank you always ensuring we have a great holiday!

We recently returned from a week's stay at this all-inclusive resort. We arrived on Christmas and left on New Year's Day. They had a very lovely N.Y.E. show, held in the hotel lobby. We had 17 people in our party, including 9 children ages 5-14, and all had a fabulous time. The resort provided a selection of activities that all the children enjoyed. The kid's camp was a sought after treat for them and their parents! Food was very good and plentiful, with 7 restaurants with different cuisine in each. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Bartenders were very helpful, even with the children getting their non-alcoholic drinks. Especially Matulda at the lower pool bar and Angel at the adult pool bar. The Entertainment crew, especially "sexy" Gabby, Andre and handsome Kevin, who led daily water aerobics, water polo and beach activities were delightful. We all had a wonderful time and miss the resort already.
My only complaints are: there were no hooks in the room to hang wet bathing suits, bathrobes, etc. Since this was an older resort the drainage in the shower and sinks were slow causing backups.

Horrible food!!! We all got sick on the 2nd day. Everything was inside so felt like you were at a hotel not a resort. AC barley keeps the room cold. THE ELEVATORS!! They were so slow (one was broken) it took 15 minutes just to get up or down from your room. The drinks were not made from real juice, just sugary crap. The staff were not very friendly (except for the kids club). The kids pool was at the far opposite end of the hotel and you could only use it between 1-5. Half of it was broken with caution tape around it.
I really recommend spending a bit of extra money and staying somewhere nicer, like the iberostar next door!! We ended up paying to switch resorts so we could salvage what was left of our vacation and to finally eat a decent meal.

We visited this resort with our family as a group of 12 people and stayed for a week. The beach is very nice but the ocean was very choppy every day. Our room was only cleaned once because the cleaning service only came around during our toddler's nap time. Many of the amenities had strange hours, for instance the kid's water park was only open every day from 1-5pm, which fell over nap time. The hotel rooms were very loud. You could hear many doors slamming in hallway. Elevators were very slow. Drinks were made with syrups and only one wine to choose from. Food was bland and there were NO options for our family of vegetarians. If you are a vegetarian, I would suggest NOT going to this resort. There are many sales people in the lobby. Hotel is showing its age. Overall we had a nice time because we were together and the weather was warm but I wouldn't recommend this resort. We won't be returning.

1. Check in: Room was given away although they confirmed it 24 hours before. They offered us to change hotel for one night but it was late and we had traveled for 20h and the change took forever. All of a sudden they find a spare room with the worst air conditioning and torture bed sofa. They promised us that we could change room next morning but when we arrived after breakfast the room was not ready...we changed at four in the afternoon after waiting for the bellboy for over one hour.

2 Room: We then got a nice room good TV old shower and no interior design to talk about. The wind kept us awake almost every night because the balcony doors could not be probably closed. 5 out of 11 days they forgot to clean our room so we had to remind them and most days the room wasn’t cleaned until late in the afternoon.

3. Elevator: To few, to slow, to warm, and dripping water. We spent a good time of our vacation waiting.

4. Food: A lot of food but more or less the same. The hot food was at best not cold. The whole family got stomach problem of and on during the whole stay. Samurai restaurant was the best but eating outside is the best tip.

5. Gym: ok but no air.

6. Staff: Nice but slow and badly trained.

7. Pool and beach: Clean and nice. Very crowed and loud at the pool big house is blocking the sun in the afternoon. Nice beach.

8. Kinds club: East Germany feeling.

Coming back to Cancún soon but not to this hotel.

We finished our 7 day all inclusive vacation today but we can’t see ourselves returning to this resort. Here is why:

1. Kids (ages 15,11,9) didn’t have enough activities to do on the resort that they all enjoyed . Games like 🎱 pool were always oversubscribed and we had to wait too long for our turn.
2. Towel service beside the pool was definitely under serviced. We had wait for clean / dry towels regularly.
3. We were aware that there is no swim up bar here so we expected great service poolside as far as taking drink orders and delivery. Guess what, we got that 1 time out of 7 days. Most other times the resort employees were busy collecting empty drink cups and transporting them back to the bar rather than bringing drinks out. We were totally fine to fetch our own drinks but poolside bars as well as other bars on the resort regularly ran out of ingredients for drinks like mojito !
4. Entrainment team saved the day for us. Micheal JACKSON show was awesome and team member Sexy Gaby made water aerobics classes fun for all ages. But another team member wasn’t aware of yoga class announced on the board by the pool on Monday ! He turned my friend away but then 5 min later his manager came running to tell him that the class was in fact ON! By then my friend had moved on.
5. Food ( taste, variety ) was also a winner. But good luck getting a seat for 8 at breakfast time in the Buffett and good luck getting drinks of your choice! Even empty ware dispensers weren’t filled in a timely fashion. Ala cart restaurants were packed at dinner so Buffett was much more accessible and well serviced at dinner time.
6. Don’t forget to pack anything you need bcoz the resort shops are stupid expensive! How about $28 USD for sunscreen !!!!
7. White sandy beach is prime and life guard was always on duty so our kids enjoyed beach time very much.

We ended up spending a lot of additional $ to take kids to activities outside the resort like seeing Mayan ruins, XcelHa, swim with Dolphins etc so won’t be returning to this resort again. I bet families with kids that are much younger than ours will have a different opinion since we didn’t use the baby or kids clubs at all. Overall this was an Average resort for us.

Currently staying at the Seadust and all I can say is this place has been an absolute nightmare in every sense of the word. It has taken away my will to go on anymore vacations for a long time. Starting with the room- me and my girlfriend paid extra to upgrade to the ocean front suite. The view is nice but that is the only good thing the room/resort has going for it. The room smells horrible. Probably due to the fact that it seems like the hotel management puts no effort into keeping up the hotel. There is mold on the tiles in the room and the windows are absolutely filthy. The tv in the room does not work. There are also no bed sheets on the bed which is extremely odd, especially since the mattress has some nasty stains on it. We were told that sometime around 3PM our first day here, a bottle of champagne would be brought up to our room as a welcome gift. 6PM rolls around and still no bottle of champagne at our room. I called guest services for about 10 mins straight and they hung up as soon as they answered each time. How rude and unprofessional is that?? Finally someone answered and said they would bring one “right up” but to no ones surprise, it took a few hours for them to do that. In order to order room service breakfast, you have to fill out a form and leave it on your door handle, but no form was left in our room day 2, so I called room service and they said they would bring one right up. Of course that was never done, even after calling a second time and asking for one. In terms of the food at the hotel, it was disgusting and had both of us sick by the 2nd night. The management at the restaurants was also extremely pushy and tried aggressively to sell you extras. The manager at the seafood restaurant tracked me and my girlfriend down in a different restaurant to show us pictures of the $35 lobster dinner, even after we told him we weren’t interested. The facilities across the hotel are all disgusting. Half of the bathrooms don’t even have functioning sinks or soap dispensers. In terms of the alcohol, all of it tastes very watered down and the selection is slim. With upgrading to the suite, we supposedly have the top liquor package, but for some reason top shelf vodka isn’t included? All in all this place has provided me such a horrible experience that I’ve contemplated checking out early and booking an earlier flight home multiple times. Whatever you do, don’t stay here

The service was really good at the Seadust and the staff were always friendly. We stayed for 14 days and the family suite we stayed in was small for a family of four. We have two small children and there was no bath only a stand up shower in our suite which the girls hated. There were a lot of people in the lobby wanting to sign us up for presentations to buy things and by the end of the trip we were really annoyed by it. The buffet had a lot of selection but it was always the same thing every day, by day 10 if felt like groundhog day. The kids club is a good service although there were times we felt a bit unsure leaving our 2 and 4 year old there, they had a lot of kids coming and going and the supervision was questionable. One night we went for dinner with our cousin and left his daughter and our kids at the kids club for a few hours, when we came back they had missed one of the kids and hadn't registered her. The kids did really enjoy the kids swim area and the beach. We went to the Karaoke bar one night and sang a few songs but there was hardly anyone there. Same thing with the "casino" bar, there was never anyone there, we wanted to play table games but there were no deals and the slots are just for display or for "fun", but they were not working at the time. I won't go back.

My wife, 1 year old son and I booked a room with a king bed for an anniversary trip. After arrival we were offered an upgraded room for an extra 55 dollars a night. We turned down the upgrade. After getting to our room we noticed it was two double beds, not the king bed we booked and paid for. My wife being 6 months pregnant needs room so we asked for the king bed we booked. They told us there were none available. We were just told a half hour earlier that they were. After talking to two different receptionists no change was made. The manager was called repeatedly with no answer. We were never compensated for this in any way, shape or form. This is the only negative review I have ever left for a resort. They evidently do not understand how to hold a reservation. They also push a "not a timeshare" presentation on you repeatedly and aggressively. When using the waterpark I was told I can not go down the slides with my 18 month old son who was absolutely loving it before this. I had read from others about their children recieving hand foot and mouth from this resort and ignored it. This turned out to be true as our poor little man now has this miserably. They also lied to us about price and distance to excursions they did not sell. I made the most of it while I was there but would absolutely not recommend this resort.
