Dream Sands in Cancun is a great all inclusive. I highly recommend paying the extra money and getting the Preferred Club. You get your own beach area with reserved seats (so you don't have to fight for beach chairs like in a lot of resorts). The best part of the Preferred Club is the top shelf liquor bar on the 8th floor. It was there that we met Armando Vega who was an awesome bar tender for us, gave great service, and great conversation. His service was worth the entire trip!
Overall you're sure to have a great time at Dream Sands. The food is good, the beach is great, 2 good pools that are not overcrowded. An excellent experience overall.
My husband, myself, and one of our best friends booked a trip to get away from work and the cold weather. We were so thrilled with our choice of resort from the moment we arrived! We were taken to the preferred lounge where we had a private check-in concierge, Abel who was always welcoming and accommodating.
Every morning, we had the opportunity to have a semi-private breakfast in the lounge complete with fantastic service from Jesus Linares. Wonderful mimosas and always a variety of delicious food!
Rooms in the 820's have a great view AND a bar/buffet right down the hall all day. Not to mention they are near the fastest elevator (by Himitsu and Portofino). We could always see the beach, the pools, and even the evening shows at the infinity pool stage.
We spent our days in the "belly beds" which are so comfortable! They give you a slightly higher vantage point on the beach and can be more private if you want to nap in the shade. Sandie and Gercon took care of us multiple days and they were both always such a delight, offering us anything from the bar, the grill, it was wonderful!
My husband enjoyed using the preferred lounge for watching football with others. Armando Vega took care of him every evening with a smile. Any time my friend and I stopped by the lounge Armando always had our shot of tequila ready and he was always a pleasure to chat with! Excellent tastes in scotch, Amigo!
Our favorite restaurant was Portofini, the Italian restaurant. Rafael was our server and he was always such a pleasure! Our glasses were never empty and our bellies were always full! He remembered us and always made us feel welcome.
We had the opportunity to use the spa and German guided us through the spa treatments and they were all incredible! Our massages were amazing too.
When it was time to go, Abel called us the evening prior and arranged for a bellman to pickup our bags 15 minutes early. Ramos arrived RIGHT on time and he offered to check behind us in the places where things are commonly left.
They really take care of everything for you at Dreams Sands Cancun! We cannot wait to visit again!
I have been traveling to Cancun and this part of Mexico for the last fifteen years. I have stayed at many resorts always looking for something amazing. I have found several along the way, but this was not it. The rooms are no better than a cheap hotel. We even upgraded and it was small, the minibar was limited and it did not have the comfort you would expect when spending top dollar. We were there for a wedding, the wedding itself was very nice, beautiful ocean behind the couple. However, the staff did not block off the area well so people kept walking through, kids from another family actually walked right into the ceremony area while the wedding was going on. The pool music was louder than the wedding music so that did not go well. The hotel is close to local shopping, the beach is very nice and the views are great. It is just small, you are smashed between lots of other resorts. If you are looking to relax, get away from it all, this is not the place. I would suggest head down toward Akumal or Tulum area. There are other Dreams resorts if you like those, they are bigger, lots of pools and restaurants on site. You could also stay at resorts like the Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya, Grand Bahia Principe or Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. They are amazing and if you want to have a great time getting away this would be a much better option.
I LOVE Dreams Sands in Cancun. This is the second time we've stayed at this location, and 4 times at their previous location (now the Hyatt Ziva). They have the NICEST staff, great food, great drinks, and the BEST beach. You can wade out hundreds of feet and there are no waves. It's fantastic... we'll be back next year!
I wanted to get away to celebrate my birthday as well as my mother's birthday and selected Dreams based on the reviews. I was glad I did. The service was impeccable from every person I encountered and I felt very relaxed during my entire stay. The rooms were beautiful and clean and the drinks continued to flow. One thing I didn't care for too much was all of the food in the World Cafe but I loved the mimosa bar and their were some good options. I also really enjoyed my food in Waves and Sands (?), the adults only restaurant. I also really enjoyed to company of the entertainment team( Adriana, Alex,Karla, Louis, Sabrina and Sergio) who made our time on the resort fun and go by very quickly. If you decide on this resort, be sure to take part in the different activities, it does help make their job easier as well. Overall, I would definitely return.
