Enrique was an excellent host and accommodated all of our needs. Casa Alvarez was easily the nicest place we stayed in Merida, Izamal, Tulum, or San Miguel de Cozumel. The room was comfy, there was an airy patio on the roof, and the shared kitchen included some free spices and such. We were traveling on the cheap so opted for...

My 3 friends and I spent several days in Merida over the holidays and were lucky enough to find Casa Alvarez. Enrique and Miriam were delightful - warm and kind and generous! Though the visit was brief, the connection was real - this is my home in Merida and I would go back in a heartbeat - just a matter...

I stayed at lovely Casa Alvarez late January and all of February 09. Located close to Merida's city centre this was a wonderful home away from home for me for the whole of my stay. Maintenance and cleanliness is at a high level, with the layout and manner in which the home is operated providing a sense of safety and...

My daughter and I were taking in the sights of the Yucatan and had booked a two week stay in another hotel in Merida. After the first week the hotel attempted to relocate us to Casa Alvarez for a single night due to their over booking. When we went to check out Casa Alvarez we immediately decided to move from...

I loved this hotel. Simple, immaculate rooms with a lovely patio. The hosts are charming and a pleasure to see at the beginning or end of the day. It is a great location, walking distance to most of the sights. I stayed at the Merida Hyatt over the New Year. Casa Alvarez was so much more comfortable and inviting. http://www.casaalvarezguesthouse.com/

This was our second stay at Casa Alvarez, and I didn't think it was possible for the family that owns it to make our stay any more enjoyable than the first, but they pulled it off in grand style. If you want to stay in a place where you are treated as though you are part of the family, this...

“All rooms are unique. Rooms 1. 2 and 3 are large and on the ground floor near the communal kitchen. Room 4 is tiny, but cozy and right next to the kitchen. Room five is midsized off the central courtyard. Room six is called "the penthouse" because it is on a third level with its own courtyard. Rooms 7 and 8 are off the balcony overlooking the entrance courtyard. Room nine, in the same area, is the only two-bedroom unit. Room ten is reserved for a couple who have been wintering at the case for the past nine years. Rooms 14 and 15 (no #13) are in a separate area above the pool area. All have their own charm.”
