This hostel is located right on the main square, which is really convenient. Despite being so close to the action (there were performances on the square every night), the dorm and common areas were very quiet. Staff was pleasant, hostel was clean enough. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of choices including eggs and 5 different types of fruit! I...

The location is insanely central, too much for our tastes--a whole lot of hustle and bustle all the time, but this is not a fault of the hostel, just opinion. Everything was very clean, all the time. Breakfast was pretty good, but you had to be very aggressive if you wanted an omlet or crepes, either sitting at the cramped...

The strongest point is – as mentioned in the previous reports – their breakfast (fresh fruit, cereal, bread, omelet, …). The breakfast starts at 7 which is ideal if you plan on goint eraly to Chichen Itza. Also it is a really communicative location and a nice opportunity to meet other travelers and the hostel owners / staff. The location...

This is one of my favorite hostels I have stayed in... the bed I had was very comfortable, on par with my bed at home, the staff was really nice and relaxed, and the breakfast was the best of any hostel I have ever been in and on par with hotels. You get a made to order omelette, filled with...

This is a really nice hostel where I've been at least 3 times and I'm actually going back in a few days. What I like about this place, it's quiet and lay-back. The staff there are really helpful and friendly. The kitchen is well equipped and the breakfast is just huge.

This was our last stop in mexico before heading back to europe and we are really happy that we chose to stay in hostal Zocalo. Location was amazing and it allowed us to explore Merida a lot since we stayed only for 1 day but we were very lucky since it was local festival when we were staying. Stuff was...

This hostel is in a great location in an old building in Merida's central plaza. The rates are very reasonable and include breakfast. However the service is very "functional" and the toilets got pretty awful at times. Not having soap in the bathrooms to wash your hands is pretty inexcusable, and makes you hope the cooks were washing theirs.

The location of the hostel is absolutely perfect. Step out of the hostel and cross the street to the main plaza. The breakfast is wonderful--lots of fresh fruit, cereal, omelets made to order and breads. Purified water was always available. Staff was friendly and helpful. Be sure to stay over a Sunday when the whole central area becomes a party....

Stayed for 3 nights in the shared bathroom double room. Our first room was along the hall way with only a tiny hig up window, boyfriend tends to get headaches from stuffy air so asked if we could change rooms. One double room was available being the one that has a tiny balcony and looks out over the square. We...

I stayed at Hostal Zocalo for two nights and loved it. The girls dormitory is well organized, with comfy beds, natural light and very clean. The bathrooms are big, clean and ventilated (no odors) It's really well located, downtown, still quiet. There were people from all over the world, all ages, travelling solo or in couples. The best part was...
