I usually stay at a cute little B&B in Merida, but it was closed for vacation, so I chose Hotel Maria Jose because it was just around the corner from where I needed to be every day. The location is great, walking distance to Santa Lucia Park, the Zocalo and just about anywhere you need to go in the Center... More

Cons: Their room key cards have to be recharged daily to unlock room doors. THAT'S a pain in the butt. Pros: Location: Only a couple blocks to the city center...LOTS to see and do. This hotel is a fantastic bargain, and it keeps enlarging and improving. Nice staff, small dining area, but a terrific cook. It's always clean, the pool... More

Stayed one night, and the price is good and so is the location, it's really close to Parque de Santa Lucia where there is a lot of great restaurants. The reception staff also speaks English which is nice. The rooms are decently clean, not amazingly but enough. Did however find a used condom in a corner which was very un-nice.... More

We stayed here overnight. It is located in downtown Merida. Pros: location, parking, price, friendly staff, many room options (from single to our family of 5), clean, air conditioned, good "sopa de lima". Cons: lobby can be smelly because of the restaurant, very basic decoration. Pros definitely outweighs the cons. Will stay here again!

I stayed at he Maria Jose for 18 days. It's centrally located with easy access to most Centro sights. It's very clean and the staff is wonderful. The front desk staff speaks English, and the waiters are just awesome. Order a meal and eat it in the restaurant in your room, or by the pool. The charge is the same.... More

This reasonable priced hotel is in the historic area. Staff were excellent, hotel is very well maintained, restaurant is reasonably priced and very tasty. Room was large, clean and very comfortable. Free parking and a secure lot. Can't say anything bad about this hotel.

The hotel is within walking distance to Zocalo, but not very close. The room's standard and ok conditions, generally clean, but the cleaning lady didn't finish the job one day (the bathroom wasn't cleaned). The receptions' English ability's limited, which is surprising in a city like Merida.

It is soooooo clean, it sparkles everywhere. The suite has a kitchenette, consisting of a half-sized refrigerator, microwave, and sink. No stove! I had packed a small slow cocker - I love crockpots! - and all was well. I just can't eat out for 2 weeks in a row, and we like making our own breakfast too. When miscommunication made... More

Really good location in Merida; despite my incredibly limited Spanish the staff accommodated a variety of my requests !! (They printed me boarding passes in the middle of the night when I couldn't get the printer to work). Our room was really clean and very quiet; I liked the pretty gardens and the lovely pool area. Hotel has room service... More

“The rooms on the second floor, east of the pool have a small kitchenette which was really convenient; another room on the 2nd floor on a different corridor also had a frig, armchair, and table if you're looking for the bigger rooms. Otherwise, just make sure you get a room with a window, a couple of the rooms don't get sunlight and lead right into their corridor.”

“Take a "simple", that means the room got one bed. It is a big bed for two persons, big enough for two and cheaper. A double is a room with two big beds.”
