Luz en Yucatán is amazing! I stayed there for 7 nights on my last trip to Merida and couldn't have asked for more! The entire staff was so welcoming and friendly! It didn't matter who was in the office everyone was so helpful. The location is excellent and walkable to so many bars, restaurants and shops around the city. I...

We again returned to Merida and returned to the Luz en Yucatan. The owners, Tom and Donard are always welcoming and the employees are outstanding. There is nothing they will not do for you. Whatever it is - just ask. If it's possible to do, it will be done. Pictures don't do this place justice. Clean rooms, clean and refreshing...

Another great visit to Merida staying at Luz en Yucatan. Every review given to the hotel states the truth about how wonderful this small botique hotel is for the Merida traveler. This is my sixth year staying at the hotel and they are always improving. My request was for a first floor room this year, so lovely with new wall...

40's couple from Seattle. Traveled to Yucatan and Central America several times. I rarely post reviews but this place is just unreal. The humorous website suggests an awesome place but it is even better. The property is right in the heart of Merida close to the best shops, food and things to do. Beautiful place, we stayed in the the...

We spent 10 incredible nights at Luz En Yucatan. Each day was an adventure for us and everyone at The Luz helped us along the way. It would be impossible to single out one person because no matter what question or personal issue we had, it was like a family member helping us. From arranging daily drivers/tour guides for trips,...

As a break from hostels while travelling the peninsula we looked for a mid range hotel. This was recommended in the Lonely Planet so we clicked onto their website. They have a 'pay what you feel' system where you pick your price range based on how successful you think you are. I've never seen anything like it before; we felt...

From the outside, it looks like just a little door. Inside is a quaint quiet piece of heaven. Our family of 4 stayed in a room for 3 nights while exploring Merida. It's located in a safe and bustling part of town, but once inside the hotel it was as quiet and tranquil as possible. The facilities were up to...

I really don't often gush in these things, but... I travel for a living, and therefore have stayed in many, many hotels in quite a few countries. Listen: this one is a definite winner. Purportedly an ex convent, La Luz is a charming, boutique-style hotel in the true sense of the word. Where to start? Let's see: the rooms are...

A wonderful location, great staff. They even had a liquor cart for (free) shots of tequila! The pool is lovely and our room, Patron, was big and the kitchen was great. We even had a patio up a level with a hammock and a table for 4. Donard and Esteban were very helpful. We did have some initial problems with...

I would not stay anywhere else in Merida. If you are looking for glitz and glamour, room service and a wild, party atmosphere, this isn't for you. But if you want a true Mexican experience with beautiful decor appropriate to the buildings colonial roots, quiet, spotlessly clean and in Centro, this is perfect. It is small, intimate and has been retrofitted...
