The "Angeles de Merida" B&B is one of the most delightful places we have stayed (and we have traveled a lot). Its a beautifully restored 19th century house on a quiet backstreet in the Yucatan city of Merida. The exterior on the slightly depalidated street gives no indication of the lovely interior, decortated tastefully in Mexican art and period furniture....

Angeles is a beautiful colonial remodel with an artistic flair. John is lots of fun, has Happy Hour every night and always includes as many friends as are nearby. When we stayed there his family from the midwest were visiting and John and his staff did a beautiful job of making everyone feel welcome. Great place.

We had a feeling that this was going to be a special place and we were right. John , our host, was there to welcome us personally and we were made to feel very much at home. The food is traditional Yukatan quisine and is made fresh every day by Lucretia who is a wonderful cook. The staff were always...

From the outside, you could wonder where you are at, but as soon you open the doors of this B&B from Merida...you are like in Paradise. The all house is like "heaven". Well mantained, decorated, you feel that you are in a 4 star hotel. Best of all, everybody make you feel right at home. John (the owner) will offer...

We came to Merida for a month of rest and exploration. We couldn't have found a better place to land. The facility was maintained in superb condition. The owners obviously love the property. The staff was exceptionally helpful. The food was imaginative and delicious. The rooms were spacious, with wireless internet access, plenty of hot water, and beds like we...

Angeles de Merida was an oasis of affection and civility in a town that does not open itself immediately to outsiders. The premises are immaculate and inviting. The owners combine their own hospitality with a flow of freinds and family that make evening cocktails an immersion in local life. Forget travel agents. The staff helped us with all kinds of...

John and his staff were consummate hosts, making our stay in Merida an enjoyable and memorable one. The home is beautiful and the staff so gracious. John never tires of answering questions and even woke up to send us off very early on our last day (I think it was around 4:30 am). We have avoided B&B's in the past,...

After spending almost two years apart due to work, my partner and I decided to spend 6 days in Merida at John Truax's Angeles de Merida Guesthouse....we've traveled the world and have experienced great times....this trip proved to be superlative. Upon arrival we immediately felt "at home"...John's concierge, Christian, anticipated and attended to our needs, before we even knew of...

From the moment I first contacted co-owner John Truax regarding Angeles de Merida, I felt a genuine & warm invitation to "come and stay"! Angeles de Merida opened in 2004 in a superbly rennovated 19th Century home(18 ft. ceilings in living & dining areas, beautiful Mexican tile, vibrant wall colors, and tastefully decorated) that is located in the "heart of...

Merida is a city of charming old houses and elegant architecture. A short walk from its historical center stands the Angeles de Merida Bed and Breakfast, housed in a remodeled 19th-century home once owned by a Spanish Count and Countess. Angeles de Merida Guest House was treated to complete renovation and design make-over, inside and out. All spaces have been redefined with a distinct mix of old and new, making the contrast between modern, minimalist interior and historic, traditional exterior a bit eclectic, as well as relaxed and comfortable. ... more   less
