I am this review to inform travelers of the accommodations my family experienced in room 3311 for a 5 day stay at Ocean Riviera Paradise I also sent this message to management upon instructions from Elizabeth who was a very kind advisor in the Privileged checkin checkout desk at this hotel. Upon arrival to our room, we immediately noticed the pungent smell of mold and mildew. I mentioned to our Butler as we were standing in the room with her that the room was strong with mold. As we left to view our second room number 3421 she mentioned she would call immediately to have it refreshed. Upon return to our room we found a dehumidifier along with a scent that was sprayed in our room to mask the strong mold and mildew smell. when requesting a different room we were told the resort was full and there were none available for us to switch to. Meanwhile we stayed in the room with the air conditioner running 100% of the time because it could not reach a reasonable temperature while also emptying the dehumidifier about every four hours nonstop even in the middle of the night with gallons of water. The room struggled to be below 80% even with the dehumidifier running 100% of the time. As a build science expert this room is extremely unhealthy and dangerous for anyone to occupy. There is clearly a problem in the room which we have taken photos and videos to show of mold spores that have been painted over with a thin coat and coming through the existing paint. It is disappointing at best that a resort this size has such poor management that they place people in rooms that can be deadly to those who may have asthma or other respiratory issues only so you can profit from filling rooms. This issue alone is more than enough that the general public should be aware of before spending their hard earned money to stay in an unsafe room that management can easily see in its attempting to mask the growing mold inside the room with paint. Even the paint is flaking off the walls which we have also documented with video and photos if you would like to see some of those as well. These are things that vacationers need to know as they bring their children to stay inside of these unhealthy rooms. secondly, we requested five different times to have water brought to our room. We were told repetitively they would bring water bottles to our room, however no one ever did. Each line that we tried to call on the phone would just ring continuously with no one ever answering. We requested water from our Butler, from guest services, front desk and every area that we thought there would be someone who could help us. We told the staff that we do not drink the alcohol or the soda in the refrigerator and we're only in need of water. Two water bottles per room per day at best is not adequate for people to be hydrated properly and healthy. It seems that management would have enough common sense to realize that providing water instead of soda and alcohol would be a substantial savings when someone request water over the other drinks. We even offered to buy the water still no response no help, terrible service overall it seems clear that the management has a great disconnect from the service employees. The water is 1 issue but the mold and mildew inside of the room is a serious HEALTH ISSUE that needs to be dealt with and shared with the public that are being put at risk to stay in these rooms. Lastly, food...if you expect great food, it's mediocre at best. Out of all the restaurants to choose from, the main buffet is really the only spot. If you prefer quantity of quality or decent food then this may be the place for you. Terrible resort! …
It is my 3rd time with my family at ORP, but first time during covid. I can say , ORP always have the nicest and attentive staff. Special mentioned to Ariz, our butler, she took care of every minor issues we had in our room, booked all our dinners, always available and a good communicator, thru whats app. Also, Ramon at the Privilege beach, he was always there to assist us , from sanitizing to putting linens on our daybed throughout our 7 days stay. Thanks to Baltazar, our favorite waiter at Pez Vela restaurant, for always wearing his beautiful smile , good humor and very welcoming attitude, and of course taking of our drink orders all the time. Irving at the Margarita bar is awesome too. These employees deserve a recognition, and managers at ORP , hopefully, you give them raises and bonuses, lol. They deserve it👏🙌 Food is great, we were able to try all the restaurants, thanks to Ariz . Beach is free of seaweeds on our last 3 days of stay, I just wished that they paved and cleaned the privilege area better, as it was not looking good, with all the dried seaweeds and uneven sand elevations left in front of the daybeds.( unlike the resort next door it was cleaned and sand was leveled better). I also missed the great nightly entertainment, understandable due to covid, although the fireshow one night was great. I loved the massage on the beach , tried all the different colors, 4 x / week, the pink, white and yellow massage therapists lol,and I highly recommend the yellow ones. Letty is an an excellent massage therapist! Overall, I still love ORP, despite the covid situation, the staff continues to work hard to make every guest stay wonderful.…
Second time at this resort, even better than the first time! For your information, this resort is quite big, but it is easy to get around especially with the trains. We travelled with my elderly mom and this feature really was a plus. The resort is very clean, a lot of greenery and flowers - very well maintained. Plus you have the added enjoyment of the Mexican wildlife (monkeys, coatis, deer, etc.). In the morning, Maria has her coffee cart set up in front of the Steakhouse. What a wonderful way to start the day and she is very pleasant to talk with. Once again, we were in the Privilege section (really it’s the only way to go). The rooms are spacious and clean. Our concierge/butler was Liliana – what a gem! She took excellent care of us –booked our restaurant reservations (at the hours we requested), arranged for special requests (for my elderly mom). Every day she would come visit with us and ask if everything was OK or if we needed anything. She is kind, courteous, a ray of sunshine - what an asset to the hotel! One small disappointment is that we found out that the Chill Out (Terrasse bar – Privilege) is closed to the public. It’s reserved exclusively for special occasions. It was such a delight to have an after dinner drink there. The Privilege pool is the quiet one. It doesn’t seem to be reserved just for the Privilege guests (a shame), but there is no problem finding chairs or shade. Service by the pool is non stop – thank you to Yazmin and Karina – Anselmo is a great bartender. Prepared an especial for my husband (margarita de mango y tamarindo con un poco de mescal – salud!). The beach: beautiful white sandy beach, hardly any seaweed! Great for talking long walks. Meals: we mainly ate at the Privilege Restaurant for breakfast and for lunch – can’t ask for better service or food. For breakfast, there is a small buffet – enough of a variety to choose from as well as an à la carte menu – plus they bake a sweet cake which is delicious. Lunchtime, you have to try the tomato cream salmorejo (like a gazpacho) – the best ever! At night, you have have a pasta dish prepared in front of you, straight from a parmesan wheel – yum. If you a steak lover, this is the best to be – super tender. Gracias a Paola y a Lizeth (day hostesses) y a Ana (night hostess). And to our servers: gracias a Carlos, Elizabeth, Sergio, Esteban, Miguel, Adolfo, Sarain, Alexis y Onecimo. Amaranto (main buffet) – We went for dinner on Mexican night – great selection and service. Restaurante Blue Moon – recommend it - food is excellent. Gracias a Miseal, Adrian y Alexis. Restaurante La Margarita – Good Mexican food, yummy margaritas! Gracias a Hector y a Marco. Restaurante La Locanda – unfortunately we were disappointed with this restaurant. Restaurante Steakhouse – Big portions, tender steaks. Gracias a Julio y a Jose Salvador. Received massages at a spa – 80 minutes of pure bliss! Gracias a Elise, Sandra y a Amayrany! Would we return here? Definitely! Gracias al hotel – el servicio es excelente, sus empleados son numéro uno – you should be very proud. …
The rooms and restaurants at this place are at the Motel 6 level. The front desk staff are only interested in upselling. The first thing they do is separate you from your bags with no explanation about how you might get them back. The check-in process is slow and requires you to sign a form promising you won't buy drugs on the beach. We were moved to a room more convenient for the hotel. We arrived in a rainstorm after having ridden the ferry. While soaking wet -never acknowledged-they sent us to a golf cart in the rain and we were driven by an employee who didn't know where he was going nor how to drive a golf cart-and were drenched again by the rain that had collected atop the golf cart. The staff standing around the front thought this was mighty funny and laughed out loud at the situation. The room they moved us to leaked on two separate occasions getting the bed wet and our clothes wet. When we called maintenance both times the worker took a picture but made no repairs. Had to ask housekeeping to change the sheets-which they did-but the mattress was still wet underneath. Closet doors, drawers, shower heads, bathroom sink stoppers, wifi-nothing worked. Mold, peeling paint, chipped tile, cracked floors. On top of all of this food poisoning from the buffet. Don't waste your money on this place.…
We are here now and have been disappointed since our arrival. On arrival we were offered a sales pitch which we kindly rejected but we’re also then told to bring our own bags to the room. Our room smells terribly of mold and has a loud dehumidifier constantly turning on and off. The bathroom is dirty, dark and falling apart. On our first night we went to the buffet and most things were barely edible. We walked down to the beach where there is barely any beach front available and it is covered with sea weed and rocks making the water barely accessible and unsafe. I’m so so so beyond disappointed with this hotel and would not recommend.
My husband and I stayed here mid to end of January 2023 and had an amazing time! I was worried whether we should have booked an El Beso room (adults only), but the reviews weren't as good, and I'm glad we didn't. We also didnt pay for Priviledge. We were put in the Daisy block (with families) right next to the main restaurant - perfect. Kids didn't keep us up and if anything, the block was probably quieter late at night which was perfect. The room was huge! Wonderful. Had a lovely sofa area, huge bathroom with his and hers sinks, ironing board, iron, loads of toiletries, balcony and a free minibar. My only 2 criticisms were that there was a leak from the air con which resulted in a small puddle on the floor each day and the 4 poster bed creaked like crazy with every move we made which kept us up at night. We spent our days either at the beach or at one of the pools (not El Beso or childrens). At the beach, you needed to secure a sunlounger by about 8:30, but around the pool it was fine anytime of day. The beach is sandy but the waters edge and water has rocks in it so its better to take water shoes. Snorkeling was so-so here. At the beach you do get constantly asked about trips, merchandise, hair braiding etc from locals, but they are very polite and don't hassle you if you say no. We were gutted that the red flags were out so often so we weren't able to take the free kayak out any day but the last one, but this is available as is free paddle boarding lessons. Drinks. Amazing!! Hands down the best hotel for the choice of cocktails, mocktails, smoothies and coffee. Faultless! Each bar & restaurant had their own speciality drinks but you can order any anywhere. There was no scrimping on alcohol. The new smoothie bar was a perfect addition. Fresh fruit blitzed with ice was amazing on a hot day. Mike's coffee house was a real treat - so many drinks, (including soya milk) and cookies and pastries available all day, as well as sandwiches in the afternoon. Only pain here was the constant huge queues. No other bars have these queues thankfully. Food. Fabulous! This is the most important part of our holiday as we are real foodies. We ate at the main buffet for breakfast and lunch and there was so much choice. Labelling wasnt always correct but food was always hot and tasty. There was a very small rotation in dishes, but this was fine as there was so much on offer. Lovely to have fresh fruit, smoothies and juices at breakfast. Wonderful to know in advance, via the app, what theme food would take each day. For dinner we ate at every restaurant and loved them all apart from Route 66 (poor service and food so-so). We didn't book anything but the Tappenyaki and always got in around 6:30/7pm. Only had to wait once, at the Steak restaurant, and only for 20 mins. Restaurant food was large and was presented beautifully 😍 I took so many photos. There is no scrimping on quality or quantity anywhere! Our favourite waiter was Diego at Pez Vela. So happy, attentive and industrious. Great guy. Saturday night is Mexican night and was by far our favourite as there are extra stalls showcasing Mexican food and drink in the outside courtyards. Entertainment. Live music outside most evenings which was great but not every night so this could be improved. Shows at the theatre were lovely but super loud! Again, great to know in advance via the app what the days schedule of activities are so you can plan your dinner and drinks. Staff. All staff we came into contact with were friendly and happy. This makes such a difference to our holiday and shows a great employer. Cleanliness. Everywhere was so clean apart from the stairwells in Daisy block, which doesn't really matter. Toilets, even at the pool, were kept clean but not all had sanitiser by the door, which could be improved. Don't trust the company that the hotel recommend for free airport transfers (Traffic Tours). They didn't collect us and we ended us having to get a £100 taxi at 1am. The hotel didn't want to help which was so dissapointing as their guests. There are many bad reviews on them so I'm not sure why the hotel still uses them. I heard they are trying to get Uber in to help. We took a boat trip to the nearby reef with the in-house company, via Enrique and really enjoyed it. Minor improvements. As well as a few minor things above, I'd suggest that the bottles of water in the rooms could be glass and reused rather than plastic, or offer recycling bins for them and things like suncream bottles. There were never any spoons on tables for tea/coffee or at the dessert stations. We rented a car from America Car for around £25 a day (including insurance) and did our own tours. So much cheaper! We loved this hotel and were so grateful for our care.…
We had a wonderful experience at the resort! The resort was lovely with a really nice atmosphere. The rooms are large and comfortable. We loved our roof top deck!! There was plenty of choices of food all over the resort and the service was great!! We found the food to be very good at the buffet and restaurants. The entertainment was good, we really liked the Disney show. It was so much fun to see the spider moneys and coatis (coatimundis) every day! The staff all over the resort were very friendly and accommodating, especially Andrei at Reception. Andrei was so knowledgeable and helpful. He definitely contributed to us having such an enjoyable time!! Thanks Ocean Riviera Paradise for the great vacation!
The options available for food and drink offer much variety. Having the beach and the many pools to choose from add to the fun. My husband and I have stayed at this property six times in the past four years. The best part? The outstanding service especially from our butler Antonio. Fantastico!
We are still inOcean Riviera Paradise. This is our third time here. We returned to this hotel because we really enjoyed the previous times. The times changed .Our room air conditioner did not work ,first night we were freezing,we could not find extra blanket. Towels in the room for one person. The internet does not work all the time. On the beach there are no chairs to sit on. Everything is for privileged people, which not to many people could afford. Maybe your hotel should turn just privileged and there will not be a problem. You advertise as 5 stars it is far from it.
Myself and my family (including children) had a 2 week stay here the start of January, unfortunately i would not recommend the hotel and would say its a 3 star experience at best. The hotel is under staffed and run down. After a long flight we got to our room which stunk of mold/damp. The bedding was dirty. it wasn’t clean overall, marks on mirrors dusty on sides mouldy in places. Had a leak coming from the roof inside the wardrobe which we didn’t find out until day 3 when all of our clothes were soaked. This never got fixed the whole stay so had to put all our clothes on the sofa. But the smell was very bad in the room the staff did put a humidifier in the room and sprayed something into the aircon but this made little difference. I requested a move but was told no. Found the buffet extremely chaotic, food always cold unless you went in as soon as it opened. Pools were spot on, as well as the drinks. Animation staff worked really hard and made effort with everyone. Bar staff round the eden pool were extremely rude and would favour Canadian guests, i actually complained about two as they upset me and another guest. Children’s pool bar staff on the over hand were super friendly. The restaurant’s weren’t great 45mins-1:30 wait for a table at Italian/steakhouse. Food was ok but again always cold and a long wait for the food to come. Route 66 was good and staff were great. We ended up eating quite a few nights. Didn’t go to the beach much as we are not beach people. Did over hear some people who came before covid who said the hotel is half of what it use to be and had gone really down hill. For the price we paid i expected a luxury holiday but it was far from this.…
