Just back from my second visit to this lovely little hotel. Will be going back as soon as i can. Clean rooms and grounds, friendly and accomodating staff and great location. 5 minutes walk from the beautiful beach and lively 5th avenue but far enough to be away from the sounds of celebration. And the free coffee is excellent. Great...

My third time at this "very special" hotel. This year I travelled solo and knew that I would be well taken care of by Diane (the very competent and caring) hotel manager. The long stay guests (from Canada and USA) who return every year add to the warmth and welcoming atmosphere. The staff are all friendly and helpful and I...

My husband & I stayed at El Acuario January 26- February 1. For a reasonable nightly rate our room was extremely clean, well stocked, fridge, hotplate, balcony with hammock and a pool to cool off in. We enjoyed fresh cut fruit from a vendor right on the corner each morning along with the complimentary hot coffee which was always brewing...

I stayed 8 nights and it was nice and I could relax on the balcony and also used the small kitchen a little bit for breakfast and snacks. The staff at the reception did not speak much English but was very helpful and I had a very helpful English e-mail contact that helped me where the reception had problems. It...

This is a long overdue review for the lovely El Acuario ! My husband and I arrived there on October 1st, 2015. Prior to our arrival, the manager, Diane, was the best of communicators with me, and my sooooo many questions (about the hotel, the area, the rooms, etc). She was a delight, and quick to respond to me, by...

We stayed here just one night because Playe del Carmen is much too touristic for our taste. For that reason we chose a hotel which is a few blocks away from the main touristic area right near the beach but still well within walking distance. It takes about five minutes to get to the beach from the Hotel. The Hotel...

I was traveling to Playa del Carmen for work, and I decided to bring my mom and stay a few extra days at a "cheaper" hotel. We picked El Acuario based on the other reviews on TripAdvisor, and we were definitely not disappointed! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Diane spoke the most English, but the other employees spoke a...

Have stayed in many PDC hotels over the years, but El Acurario proved to be the most enjoyable and relaxing one week stays. From the welcoming staff and laid back environment, to the large rooms with functional kitchenettes including a personal porch w/hammock. Just what the doctor ordered. The hotel is off the main drag which is a nice change...
