Tukan Hotel in Playa del Carmen has received mixed feedback from guests. While the hotel's prime location near Fifth Avenue and the beach is a standout feature, earning positive remarks for convenience, the rooms have been criticized for maintenance issues and seeming outdated, although some guests found them satisfactory. Cleanliness generally garners compliments, but the amenities, particularly bedding and water quality, have been flagged for needing enhancement. Service experiences vary, with reports of both friendly staff and less attentive service. Travelers also question the value, noting unexpected charges and conditions that don't meet expectations.

I stayed 8 days, my new year was spent in Playa del Carmen, and I stayed at Hotel Tukan.

I loved the location of the hotel, its rooms I liked, I loved the food of the restaurant La Ceiba, the staff is attentive, I was very happy in the hotel. Its location is key, it is one block from Fifth Avenue and is two blocks from Coco Bongo, it is very well located. I loved waking up and going to breakfast with my whole family.

I was very pleased with the hotel. Like anything, it has things to improve, like the water that comes out in the sinks and showers. But overall it met expectations. Ah the hotel complied by staying at the main headquarters as requested. If asked, I would stay at the hotel as many times as necessary, as long as I am put in the main headquarters.

Very good hotel but the facilities in the rooms are not new and the mattress and pillows are old.
The La Ceiba restaurant is small but very good for breakfast, lunch and dinner, although there is not much variety in the buffet, the food tastes good and what no one says when paying for all inclusive, the drinks are also included, you just have to bring a thermos because The restaurant is in front of the hotel and is where the bar is.
I recommend the rooms at the back of the hotel that are larger and more comfortable, new beds and better facilities.
The hotel is in an excellent location just steps from Fifth Avenue and you can walk along it without leaving the quadrant one block from the beach.

A very quaint and quiet Mexican hotel, close to the action but just far enough away to be peaceful. What it lacks in modern renovations it more than makes up for this in charm. Beautiful rainforest settings in the inner court. La Ceiba Buffet is a good deal for all inclusive delicious food and drinks including a wide choice of cocktails. But above all was the friendly and accommodating staff. Special thank you to 'doorman' Umberto, for all his help as well as Alexis, the charming bartender who always had a smile and a big Hola!
Cheers! CDN couple in 70's!
We recommend the Tukan and La Ceiba for a 'taste' of real Mexico. 4⭐
PS...the pillows weren't great lol!

This hotel has very beautiful garden that looks like jungle. There are different sorts of animals and plants and you feel realy very close to nature. There are a lot of pluses like tasty food and good yoga and zumba. I had a feeling that they ware a bit sot of staff but it was ok. I hope we will be back one day

Let me start by saying, I am a person who loves to travel because I like to get to know the world and discover new places, I travel alone and I do it during my working holidays and I work in the world of tourism and I deal with the catering sector. Like all the years before choose a new destination, I entrusted myself to my travel agent and he offered me this structure in Playa del Carmen in Mexico with "Eden travel" location very close to the center attached to Quinta Avenida all inclusive formula, excellent value for money and so I accepted the advice and so far nothing to say. Arriving at this hotel was a total disappointment because of all the ones I've stayed at this is one of the worst that could have happened to me, I'll start by describing the negative sides: upon arrival at the reception I found it unprofessional and very indifferent, we move on to the room, third floor without elevator, without telephone, smell of mold and not very clean, dilapidated bathroom, yellowed linen and curtains and as a final surprise when the light is turned on, away with the cockroaches coming from the shower, in short, it should be give a general restyling because it is not possible to keep rooms in these conditions. Let's move on to the restaurant part, the sector which I deal with as already mentioned at the beginning, a partner restaurant adjacent to the hotel, "La Ceiba", dishes not always clean giving me that impression of not well looked after, at breakfast little variety of products always the same things only strawberry jam, butter, water, orange juice and a type of colored water that I wouldn't even know what it was and then other specialties of theirs, so my advice to you if you decide to take a holiday in Mexico and especially in Playa del Carmen avoid choosing this hotel and opt for choosing other hotels as the location is so renowned and has very nice facilities with much superior quality of services.

The location is very good, but only that, according to me I chose a junior room for "more space and comfort", a terrible mistake, the reception was far away and there are no telephones to inform if something was missing or the internet went out.
There was never any parking space so they always sent us to the lobby of the Aspira hotel (it was in front) so they could support us and always with faces.
Honestly, if you are thinking of choosing this or another hotel, choose another one, NOTHING recommended.
If you bring something of value, they will charge you 500 pesos for a lock to keep your things. They wanted to take away our food bracelets when we had paid for them or have us pay again. Fortunately, a girl did check to what date they had been paid and told us. left in peace.
The truth is that it is a very basic hotel and I think that for the price at least a better deal.

The attention is terrible and they do not collaborate at all with the guest. The cleaning is bad, the shower gets clogged and very little water comes out. It does not have a minibar and the air conditioning is set at 26 degrees. It is called El Tukan hotel & beach club and it does not have a beach club. The key system is good because it is a device fixed on the bracelet but they only gave it to a single guest in the room, so if the other person needs some room, we both have to go, and in our case it was a third floor by stairs. They have an agreement with the restaurant in front but they do not sell drinks but buy food, terrible service from La Ceiba. We do not recommend it and we will not return either.

The best thing about this hotel, without a doubt, is the location. Half a block from 5th Avenue, on the corner of the wax museum. Wherever you want to go, there are options for restaurants, shops and movement in general. Everything close and comfortable.
Its facilities, in terms of outdoor spaces, are beautiful without being too surprising. The pool and vegetation are very beautiful.

The attention is average-poor, lacks cordiality and good disposition. The rooms were extremely poorly maintained, with cables hanging untidily, with a musty smell, the smell of plumbing in the bathroom, really uninteresting. The shower on the first few days did not have hot water, the shower head seemed to be broken and distributed water throughout the bathroom. You may have a room on the third floor due to stairs which may be difficult for some people, take this into consideration! Breakfast is served in a kind of restaurant that is across the street, generally average. Don't even think about considering half board, it's not worth it.

My family and I stayed here this past week and it was NOT what we expected. The front desk person that checked us in was very rude, because we didn't want to buy a meal plan from the restaurant on the property. They really push you to buy from them. The rooms looked the same as the pictures online, but I booked 3 separate rooms and they all had roaches and ants. I did inform the staff, they said they'd fumigate, but there was still bugs the entire stay. The pool in the hotel was being renovated which we weren't told of beforehand. They said it would be ready in 2 days, and even 7 days later when we left it still wasn't available. They offered use of a pool in one of their hotels across the street, but it was very tiny, barely fit 5 adults. The water to shower with smells terrible and is very salty. The only positive thing was our housekeeper Maria was very sweet. I will not stay here again in the future.

The hotel is spacious and green. It is a pleasure to observe the trees and vines outside the rooms. The rooms have a very nice design and are spacious, it is good that they have air conditioning. The front desk service is very attentive, as is the housekeeping service. Agostina was our hostess, she kindly recommended the best options for the trip. The buffet style food is delicious and has many options, it is a very complete menu.
