If you’re staying for 2 days or so and are willing to spend a small fortune on mediocre food and/or are willing to pay triple the amount of anything you do through the hotel then this is a decent pick. The rooms are beautiful. Foodies beware… The food was overpriced. Example: $120 USD for mediocre dinner for two. The romantic dinner is around $290 USD, but we decided not to do it since it’s too expensive for what it is and we didn’t love the regular dinner we paid for. We ate two meals there, with drinks, and spent about $250 USD on that. That’s more than I pay in San Francisco for a more elegant setting and better tasting food. The drinks weren’t very tasty and are 150 MXN to 230 MXN in price — again about San Francisco prices, but not the same quality. Cocos Cabanas next door has much better strawberry margaritas, for example. The hotel is far from other places to eat and you have to take a taxi to town. That’s like $15 USD each way. We were so disappointed with them trying to upsell everything (tours, transportation, etc), that we ended up renting a car and driving to other places to eat. It was so much better and a fraction of the cost. For example, Los Compas Taquieria is close by (30 min walk), and it’s so much more authentic and delicious. When we went to Xcaret park, we asked the hotel how much it would cost to get there. They said $170 per person. The ticket cost of Xcaret is $109 per person which means they wanted to charge us about $120 USD for transportation for 2 people. What the heck?! Then the taxi they wanted to call for us said they’d do it for $32 each way. In the end we found our own taxi and paid 350 MXN or about $17 USD one way. We felt like they were extorting us at every opportunity, which is a terrible feeling to have about your hotel. Also, you can’t swim at the beach right in front of the hotel. There are too many sea urchins. You need to walk over to another hotel’s beachfront. They have a small pool near the beach where you can swim pretty much anytime but the beautiful rooftop infinity pool that they’re known for closes at 7 pm.

Great hotel, great food, im blown away by a few of the creations from the head chef, the cocktails could have been better as a few of them were sub par. The best part of the trip was my concierge Phil escalante, he was attentive to every detail and helped me set up the most romantic dinner for my girlfriend. He was also on the ball with whatever you need. Excellent!

This was the best hotel i ever stayed in! For real! The way to the hotel is pretty bumpy but it‘s worth it! You will get surprised as soon the gates open! The beach-club wonderful and it is quiet compared to other beaches in playa del carmen. The food at the beach club, restaurant and on the rooftop-bar is so good and the prices are normal. AND i have to mention the service… this was the best part! They we’re so loving and friendly! One guy even brought us an electrical adapter from home! The room got always cleaned right after we left to room for the brunch, beach, lunch, dinner.. every time we left!! The service was just amazing! I would recommend this hotel everytime to everyone! Special thanks to alex (tour organiser from the hotel), alejandro & felipe (the butlers) and everyone else for the amazing stay!
