Hotel's Favourite
We just spent a week at Hotel Xcaret Arte at the end of May, 2022. What a wonderful trip it was! This was our second visit to Hotel Xcaret Arte, after spending 3 visits to Hotel Xcaret Mexico, starting in 2018. We came to learn that Hotel Xcaret is not only a Five Star resort, it is a Five Diamond resort and the only Five Diamond resort in the world that is also All-Inclusive! Not only that, but it is "All-Fun Inclusive", meaning guest get unlimited access to 6 adventure parks and 4 tours, to include transportation to and from as well as food and drink while visiting the parks and tours. Everything REALLY IS INCLUDED! On our first visit, I kept waiting for the "gotcha" to happen, but it never did. I was expecting for the reveal of "oh, that is where they get you!", but it never happened. The complete unplug from reality and responsibility is something that cannot be understated and a big reason why we keep coming back every year. The first thing I want to mention, is the staff at this resort, as they are nothing short of phenomenal! Every staff member we encountered gave is exceptional service, big smiles (that we could tell thru the masks), friendly greetings and went out of their way to make us feel like VIPs. Even the staff who was cleaning the seaweed off the beach in the mornings were friendly and seemed happy to see us. We were constantly amazed at the beaming positive attitude and willingness to take care of us that all the staff displayed. This cannot be overstated how important this is to having a great experience. We became members of the hotel in 2020, so our check in at the members lounge was very smooth and fast. Our concierge, Jhossa went above and beyond and was able to get us upgraded to an Ocean Front room in Casa Artistas! We were over the moon when we saw the view from our balcony! Once in the room, I made the discovery that my wallet must have fell out of my pocket on the ride from the airport to the hotel. I let Jhossa know, and she had my wallet brought to me within about 30 mins, everything was intact. This could have a been a rocky setback but the resort staff came through in stellar fashion. We also received welcome tumblers in our room as well as MDC hats as gifts. Membership has it's perks! We had our itinerary planned out to include visits to Xcaret Park, Xplor, Xenotes and would play the rest by ear. We made sure to hit our favorite restaurants: Fuego, Xin Gao & Tah-Xido and made it a point to try others we had not yet visited. The weather during our stay was overcast for most of it, and it was very humid but we were still in paradise so none of that mattered. Both resorts being mirror images of each other made it pretty easy to get around, although I still really enjoy exploring EVERYTHING and taking it all in. Our Concierge, Jhossa Gomez was fantastic and I can't thank her enough. Our butlers Javier and Adrian were also very helpful and on the ball when we needed something or had a question. We always felt taken care of from the time we woke up until the time we drug our weary and overfed bones to bed at night. This trip was over our Anniversary, and when we came back in our room on our Anniversary, we found rose petals on the bed and champagne with a chocolate heart waiting for us. It is little personal touches like these that make this resort so special! The Room: Our room was 2319, which was Ocean Front and one floor up from the Swim Up rooms. It's hard to put into words how stunning the view was, and the constant ocean breeze helped to equalize the humidity and made for some very satisfying naps on the balcony. There was plenty of room for the 3 of us in our room, because of how skillfully it was designed, everything has a purpose and is beautifully laid out. We didn't use room service but housekeeping took good care of us and kept our room clean and our mini fridge stocked. The Restaurants: We really enjoyed Fuego restaurant, they seem to retain their staff over the years and for good reason - they are all over the top at service! We especially loved having Carime, Angel, Henrry, Alejandro, Hugo, as they always make us feel like Kings and Queens! The food here is excellent as well, our favorite in both resorts. We also were happy to discover that Kibi Kibi has improved from our Dec 2021 visit. It was still good then, but we tried it for breakfast and dinner on this trip and really enjoyed both. Service and food were both top notch. Special kudos to our waiter David on our evening meal! One thing that should be said, the main buffets for both the HXM and the Arte side are very underrated. With all the gourmet restaurants, you may think that the main buffet food won’t be all that great, and you would be wrong! I found myself eating at Mercado de San Juan (main buffet at Arte) several times, and it was always fantastic. They have several made to order stations and I especially liked the salmon, they cook it right there for you, lightly season it and it melts in your mouth with no fishy flavor whatsoever. I am a bit of a pizza connoisseur and have made my own pizza from scratch for years and I have to say, the pizza you get at Mercado de San Juan is VERY good. I was pretty much blown away by it and even after a nice sit down gourmet dinner every night, I would make sure to visit Mercado de San Juan to enjoy their pizza and sometimes would sometimes add on some pasta with white sauce or salmon, then top it all off with their cinnamon roll or strawberry ice cream - both of which are excellent! I also enjoyed breakfast at Mercado, with made to order stations and comfort food like waffles that I smother in butter and caramel. Oh my! We enjoyed our Xin-Gao Teppenyaki with Nathaneal as our chef, we have had him before and he was excellent again! We had Fusion at Tah-Xido which was also good. We also enjoyed Cayuco for dinner, it has things like steak, pasta, pizza but they are prepared when you order them (not a buffet for dinner) and it's very good. They also have the best house drink we encountered. It is a refreshing cucumber spritz type drink that can be had virgin or with rum. It is also recommended to try the Mexico City Hot Dog at Arenal for lunch, I’m not much of a hot dog kinda guy but I was completely impressed! We really enjoyed all the restaurants we tried on this trip - and then there was the Sunday Brunch in Las Cuevas. Normally at a cost of $60 per person, we were able to enjoy it free of extra charges as members. They have every thing you can possibly think of, fresh seafood, bar-b-que, breakfast items made to order, pizza, tacos, and a host of things I tried and can't remember because I was literally trying to convince my stomach not to explode as I kept eating. This is really a must-do! In short, the food here, at both Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Hotel Xcaret Arte is really top notch and I love every second of my meals here! The Parks and Tours: Xenotes is always our favorite, and this time didn’t disappoint. We had Alberto as our guide and he was excellent! He took time to help my 77 year old, very active mother thru some of the activities and made sure to make the experience personalized. I am in my early 50's and always feel like a kid again when enjoying the Xenotes tours. All the zip lines and slides into the water, cliff jumps, river swims, kayaking, and the assisted rappel just makes for a very enjoyable day in the middle of pristine jungles and nature. We also did Xplor park and enjoyed the vehicles and zip lines, then hit the buffet at the park before heading back to the hotel. Xcaret park was visited several times over the course of our visit, including finally watching the Espectactular show which was much better than I had anticipated. The presentation and production value of this show is really top notch! We didn’t have time for Xel-ha or Xavage or Xenses on this visit. The Good: There are so many wonderful things about this resort, and this being our second visit to Arte, we noticed the service level and food quality went up a bit, if that is even possible, from our first visit to Arte in December of 2021. We have noticed this at both Hotel Xcaret Mexico and Hotel Xcaret Arte, that little things have improved just a bit every time we go, which is incredible as the bar was set very high from our very first trip to Hotel Xcaret Mexico in April of 2018. The excellent service and the wealth of entertainment options between exploring the resort itself and the unlimited access to all the parks and tours make this a really unforgettable experience. The most difficult decisions you have to make is how to visit the parks and tours and still have time to relax at any of the rooftop pools, infinity pool, beach or in your balcony hammock. Hint: You won't be able to do it all on this trip, so don’t run yourself ragged trying. Just accept that you will be coming back because there are parks and tours you haven’t done yet, and once you are home, you wont be able to forget the feeling you had when you were at this wonderful resort! The Not as Good: For some reason, Hotel Xcaret Arte cannot or does not make frozen drinks near as well as at Hotel Xcaret Arte. They focus more on traditional mixed drinks and their welcome drinks for each restaurant and pool. We prefer the frozen drinks most of the time and found ourselves going over to the Hotel Xcaret Mexico side to get our frozen drinks (Mango Tango, Mango Colada, Miami Vice, Mudslide etc). The swimmable beach seems to be disappearing little by little. There used to be a larger swimming area on the far edge of Hotel Xcaret Mexico that is now completely gone due to the erosion caused by hurricanes, and the swimming area in front of Hotel Xcaret Arte isn’t very big. Having said that, this resort offers SO MUCH to see and do, including all the parks and tours, that we didn’t really miss not spending any time in the ocean on this visit. I wish I could remember all the staff that made our stay so wonderful, but the ones I can remember definitely deserve recognition: Jhossa Gomez - our concierge Adrian and Javier - our butlers Carime, Henrry, Angel, Alejandro & Hugo - Fuego Restaurant David - waiter at Kibi Kbi Victor - waiter at Mercado de San Juan Berlin - waiter at Cayuco Alexa - MDC representative Nathaneal - Xin Gao teppanyaki chef Alberto - guide at Xenotes Overall it was a wonderful visit, and even after 7 days, it was still too short! We always feel like royalty at this resort, they never fail to deliver an over the top experience that my friends and co-workers have to endure my endless babbling about whenever we return. We will be back in 2023!

From the minute we checked in to the minute we left, we were constantly in awe of the kind and helpful staff and the beauty everywhere you look. No detail went unnoticed. It was extremely well maintained, from the greenery to the beach, so clean, smelled great. Authentic art is everywhere and so beautiful. When we needed something, we easily got help. For example, our lockbox with our passports malfunctioned and they sent someone up within 10 minutes to get it out, super simple. There are attentive lifeguards, staff just wandering to help you with directions (it’s huge!) and they speak very good English. For the price, it is definitely worth it. It’s not cheap but certainly not overpriced for what you get- especially if you go to any of the parks. Definitely do the XPLOR Fuego at night because the one downside to this place is that there are not a TON of nighttime activities. There is a speakeasy and a cantina. The food was incredible- big variety - both American options and Mexican/Mayan options. Both buffets and a la carte. Def book the RSVP restaurants early- we couldn’t get into Encanta, apparently the best one. The Mediterranean inspired poolside restaurant was our favorite, Cayuco, and our server Juan Montoya, went above and beyond, he was so pleasant, we came back to visit him even after we ate elsewhere the next night. It was a lively vibe, but not crowded or rowdy. Plenty of tables and chairs available, not long waits for drinks. No children around was very peaceful and we didn’t even see anyone visibly over intoxicated despite the all inclusive drinks. i was so excited they had art and dance classes! One glitch was the program didn’t mention the weaving workshop I chose was a multi session one and I wasn’t able to attend all of them so certainly ask ahead about how they work if you are interested in the classes. I could write so much more but basically….. GO THERE!!

We chose Hotel Arte due to it being adults-only and absolutely beautiful. The property we very well kept, the room was beautiful, the option of visiting the other parks was a huge plus, the food was the best I've ever had at an all-inclusive resort. Huge shout out to Jorge Huerta at the front desk for making our anniversary celebration something to remember for years!

We spent 5 days in Hotel Xcaret Arte and became members after our third day, thanks to the amazing hospitality and above and beyond service by Santiago Villasenor! He was always making himself available and extremely accommodating throughout our stay. Everything was incredible. Enjoy a worry free vacation with this phenomenal all inclusive experience. The food, the parks, the pools, the excursions, every dime is worth the experience of having everything at your doorstep (literally!) We can't wait to come back!
