Great resort and great park. Food is above average but not exceptional. Park is great but be prepared for walking. If you get the chance visit Roman Diaz at Pacos Tacos at the resort. He gave us a great night of service in with a relaxed attitude. There are fancier places to eat but if you want to interact with... More

Our check in was super quick, we were in building 11 which is very close to the main buffet, and most of the restaurants. When you check in, you WILL be walked to your room by a hotel representative. They WILL try to get you to do a timeshare presentation, for which they are relentless. We have stayed in Mexico... More

Great hotel, nice restaurants, friendly staff, alcohol at the pool bars is weak but ok in the restaurants, plenty to do day and night, cocobongo highly recommended, loads of wild life around the hotel as well as in the nature reserve ( excaret), shops in the hotel are expensive better to go into playa del Carmen

The good: I love the hotel. It's the kind of hotel that you have to go more than 3 days to enjoy it all. The room was comfortable and big. the weather in November it's not so warm but also, not cold, is a good one, you can enjoy the beach. We took the Xcaret package that the hotel offer... More

We stayed at this resort as they were undergoing renovations after being bought out by another hotel group. For the most part there wasn't too much inconvenience from maintenance, construction. The hotel and property are beautiful. The grounds, pools and buildings were very clean and the staff, especially, in the a la carte restaurants and bars were very good. The... More

The resort is beautiful, surrounded by nature everywhere. The resort is large so there is a lot of walking, so if you don`t like to walk it might not be your place, they do have a little golf cart going around but it seems that it was not often enough (I didn`t care, I like to walk). The hotel is... More

The grounds are beautiful. The staff friendly. The food at the restaurants were average and the buffets average. The beds were comfy. You must visit Pacos Tacos and ask for Roman Diaz De Nadd. He was so courteous and funny. Also Fabian Garcia at the snack bar. Excellent service!!! The park next door is a must as well.

I loved our visit to Mexico, lovely place and amazing looking hotel. Has many restaurants to choose from, bars and even a forrest. I'd love to go on and on about the benefits but that's not the case here. I travel frequently and in various countries and have yet to experience such lack of customer service. We spent good money... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The 5-star Occidental at Xcaret Destination in Riviera Maya is a perfect combination in a natural setting with preserved cultural landmarks and an all-inclusive resort with a unique array of rooms, services, and state-of-the-art facilities. Choosing among the many possible activities is the most complicated part of a stay at this resort in Playa del Carmen. Swimming with dolphins, attending a Mayan Indian ceremony, enjoying all types of water sports at the beach club or sailing down the beautiful rivers and canals that surround the hotel are just a few highlights. The Xcaret eco-archeological park offers one of the most unique and exciting park, especially for families, by guaranteeing over 40 cultural attractions and expositions on art and traditions in Mexico. However, as people normally say at the hotel: "Do it all...or simply do nothing." Choose from a list of diverse activities such as strolling through the lush gardens at the resort, enjoying the sun while lying on a hammock, or taking a refreshing swim in one of the resort's five pools or private beach. Anti-stress remedies at the resort are endless. Regardless of how you plan each day at the resort, the hotel's choice of culinary selections is designed to satisfy the demands of every kind of guest. With 10 bars, including the one at the club, and 11 restaurants, guests have the freedom to choose a snack, an informal meal, a gourmet feast or a candlelight dinner, among many other options. The key to this resort is balancing between modern facilities and the marvelous Mexican rainforest that is filled with stunning local wildlife.
