We enjoyed our 2nd stay at Playa Maya earlier this month, booked directly through Steve at the hotel with ease after having our travel agent recommend the hotel to us for a stay this past March. Good thing she did, too, because we were so pleased to have found such a nice, welcoming, more upscale property on the beach in...

My husband and I stayed at Playa Maya in early May of 2006 for three nights. It was our first stay in Playa del Carmen, but we have stayed on the Mayan Riviera in AIs many times. We were anxiously anticipating our stay here, since it sounded so very nice and friendly from the reviews and the website. Overall, we...

Thanks for your comments on your stay here. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed our location and the rooms -- especially the jacuzzi room (which can tend to polarize people in terms of their reactions) -- but of course sorry to hear of your experiences regarding the staff and breakfast. On the former point, we have just 3 receptionists,...

We have added the Play Maya to the top of our vacation destinations list! For us, this small hotel had everything we needed and then some. The service was impeccable, the hotel was immaculate, very reasonable prices, and we had a beautiful ocean view from our room! Definitely top of the line all the way! From the time we were...

The hotel is very comfortable except for the night that there was a city wide power outage. My only problem was the number of steps you must walk to get to the lobby, I estimate about 20. I have back trouble so this became somewhat of a challenge. The tv was better than most Mexico hotels with a few english...

We stayed at the Playa Maya for 4 nights in September '06. This is a relatively new hotel. The place is pretty small (I think that's a good thing), I estimate that it is about 75' wide and sandwiched in between the Alhambra and another place who's name I didn't catch. We stayed in a "Jr. Suite" which is a...

Thanks very much for your comments. Very pleased to hear that you found us a cut above and that you'd like to return someday. We strive to create that effect, of course, and would be happy to have you here again! I'm afraid I must apologize on one point, however, as it was only after reading your review and recognizing...

I had a wonderful time at the Playa Maya. As a woman traveling alone, I was looking for a place where I would feel comfortable and safe and I found it. Everyone was so kind and helpful. The room was spacious and so clean. The numerous hangers in the closet was very welcome as well as the chest of drawers....

Hotel has a great location, but... It's only entrance is on the beach...which is a little weird, but great for privacy and really not much trouble at all. Restaurant is good. Service is fantastic. Had a bad experience with one of the receptionists, but the other one we encountered was fabulous. Our first-floor room had a bit of a sewage...

We appreciate hearing from you, and are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us overall and that you would recommend us to others. We take it as a good sign that you were moved to comment positively on us even after almost a year has passed since your stay! Normally I would try to investigate any specific...

We loved the Playa Maya, stayed there July 11-16. We had done the AI thing and it was nice but we wanted something somaller and more personal with evertything close by and near to town. I did extensive research before choosing Playa Maya and I was sold on the great reviews, you can believe them. It was less like a...

We stayed at Playa Maya the first week of May and loved it! You have to walk around the front of another hotel at the end of calle 8 on the public beach for about 20 meters to get there, as the entrance is only beachfront. This got us in the mood right away to chill out with a drink...

We tried Playa Maya for our third excursion to PDC since our previous hotel is closed for renovations. We could not have been more pleased. My wife was a bit skeptical at first, but all fears were vanquished on our first day at the beach. After a great Mexican breakfast, we were waited on hand and foot on the beach...
