Hotel Hacienda del Caribe in Play del Carmen is another hotel to avoid. When we checked in the room they gave us only had a single small ceiling light, no bedside or other lights at all in the room. When we asked for another room...More
I had high hopes for this place, due to its more authentic architecture, and perfect location, close to the bars, restaurants, beaches and shops. Unfortunately our Mexican Travel Agent had gone bust, taking our money with it (apparently) so didn't get off on good foot...More
Stayed one night and could not stay any longer. The room was old and in need of work. Bathroom tiles were broken and dirty. The door was thin and did not feel safe. When we came back late the guard was lying on the bench...More
My husband and I needed a room for a few nights before we checked in at our timeshare. Our rate did not include breakfast so I can't comment on that. Many great restaurants close by. When we arrived they could not find our expedia reservation,...More
We stayed here between 3-13 December 2013 and this was the first hotel during our Mexico holiday. Accommodation price was very cheap, rooms are big enough and clean. If you travel with children dont choose the standard 2 beds room because you will not find...More

From what I saw all the rooms were pretty much the same. Perhaps the difference is the location? There were no rooms on the street and the street outside is walking street only. The noise issue comes from the hotel courtyard. You will have to use earplugs to get to sleep but in the dead of night it is very quiet. I saw no outer balconies and all the rooms face the inner courtyard where they have a small restaurant and a pool.
Great hotel for the price I paid ($38US) in a PERFECT location. This place is NOT fancy, it has issues, but is comfortable and clean.

ALOHA....late to the party, but I can answer this. The rooms do have safes. They were broken when we were there but a man came very quickly and fixed them. That being said, the repairman can break into the safe in about two seconds. However, this hotel was very safe and the workers felt very integral.
The noise level is HIGH in the beginning of the night, every sound echos into the rooms. However, when I woke up in the middle of the night it was quiet. I used earplugs.
This hotel is VERY CLOSE TO EVERYTHING. Everything. You can walk everywhere.
