Great spot. Centrally located in downtown playa del Carmen near everything. Great beach. Fantastic pools. Great spa. My second stay on the property. Hotel is great value for the money. I will recommend and will return.
Why I didn't give this resort 5 stars... very noisy room, it takes too long to get coffee in morning (rooms have coffee makers but expresso size servings & it's not good), hotel bar closed at 10:30 on a Friday night, bedrooms only have 2 hooks for wet towels/bath suits (sounds trivial but a pain when you need stuff to dry) no robes and very few hangers. Why I gave this resort 4 stars....The staff is very friendly and over all service was good. The pool area is especially nice. The rooms are a decent size, clean and the beds are very comfortable. The location is walkable to many restaurants and shopping.
Nice quiet spacious room, great bathroom, the Club is excellent value, stylish resort, great staff. Great location, easy walk to lots of good restaurants (stay away from touristy 5th Ave obv.) Biggest plus: the Club! Wonderful value, great service, great bartenders, chill vibe. *BIG CON: the 'beach club' right next door blasts out blaring club music from noon-6pm every day. Kind of ruins the pool/beach area for me. Dear Hyatt: to protect your $$$ investment in this hotel, buy out the beach club and close it down. It's ridiculous. Other: the pool-area restaurant has mediocre pool grub: pizzas, chips n guac, etc. Not surprising but overpriced. The quality of drinks there is uneven as well. Did not try the Raw Bar or the Grill due to lots of neg. reviews. (Tip for Hyatt: if you don't do sushi well, as reviews say, don't do sushi. Do anything else. High-end Mexican cuisine is a thought.) Might stay again, but might not, due to loud music from beach club all day long. It's a shame, because otherwise this place would be a top choice!…
Resort was overrun by so families with small children and babies. Could not understand why the resort would not reserve a floor or section of a floor for adults only or for families no small children or babies. There were plenty of adults, couples and family's with no small children or babies to occupy an adult only section within the resort.
Amazing resort. Magic Mike is the best! He hosts daily activities on the property like water aerobics, ping pong, and corn hole! I had a lot of fun thank you Magic Mike. Everything you would want in a resort is here. Within walking distance of 5th Ave
We have come to this property year after year. It is not a cheap place to stay, but it’s one of the best. Well. It was. This past stay they failed to inform us prior to booking that the hotel was being converted to a kosher hotel. Now I do not mind that it was kosher, but not being aware of this is my issue. Before there use to be great service, and food with plates and trays served by the pool, cocktail menus with creative drinks, now they won’t even present you with a menu for alcohol - and now you get served most things in a paper bag. Nothing says 5 stars like eating out of a paper bag on your $500CAD a day hotel stay while other peoples paper bags blow around the pool area. Both restaurants were converted to kosher, the the higher level of service you’d come to expect of the brand was non existent - and no one was happy about it. The staff did there best but honestly by not being informed of this ahead of time was a big failure on hyatts part Best part while the staff are reminding you regularly that the tip is not included. The Hyatt charges you 9.5% service charge on your entire stay!! - criminal if you ask me. To say we were upset is an understatement. We have come here several times and always enjoyed ourselves but this time alone has made it so we will never return. …
If the weather wasn’t good they’d get 1 star. Hotel was not as clean as expected The service from most of the supervisors was poor. (however, Ezer from Room service was excellent. Every employee, supervisor, and manager should aim to be like him- professional, respectful, and hospitable). The room floors were dirty, room service didn’t clean well at all. No slippers, so bring your own. Gross. Our executive suite had an excellent ocean front view, with room-temperature plunge pool on the balcony. Beach is public, so get ready to watch a bunch of strangers sit right in front of you drinking beers from their coolers. Lot of the staff was pushy outright asking for tips, even when they gave very poor service. The lower level workers were very kind, respectful and caring. Pool area was okay. Tight seating, but nice views of pools overlooking the ocean. As a family we made the best and really had a great time. Would’ve preferred cleaner/nicer rooms, and a lot better service. …
The property and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The menu at the hotel is not diverse and extremely expensive. The quality of the food and drinks were poor. Front desk staff was extremely helpful. We experienced a bit of basis from the pool staff when attempting to use pool side service for drinks / food. We needed up ordering our own drinks at the bar. Family friendly resort so be prepared for crying at early hours and especially at the pool area.
I can't say enough how grateful we were for Fernanda's help in setting up our stay at the hotel. The hotel prefers all requests to come through email and she handled all of our needs. From special requests due to allergies to connecting me with a car service to transport us to the hotel to introducing me to the hotel tour coordinator, she tackled each question I sent her way. And because some of the questions required more in depth research, Fernanda did not stop until the answer was found and the information sent back to me via email. My only regret is I did not get to thank her in person for all of her assistance!
The hard product is decent and design was great, albeit there was a bit of maintenance happening that we were not made aware of that directly affected our stay in an unhealthy way. This greatly exacerbated the experience since we also now have a newborn. We stay at Hyatt all the time and are globalists and are always happy and never complain about them but this time was just so disappointing, especially since we were also there for a wedding event. Many in our group experienced some of the worst customer experience ever from a hotel of this standard. Not to say that everything was bad, and in fact there were a few staff that were a highlight, but as a whole, it was a pretty terrible experience. The spa was superb though. We also had a few cockroaches in our room on several days. I know this is an outdoor resort and this can be normal and unavoidable but still not a pleasant thing to see. But on a minor good side not, we did have the best coconut we've ever had in our lives.…
