This resort is fantastic for families. The kids club has all the amenities needed to keep the kids entertained while the parents can relax.

A few times we left things (water toys etc...) at one of their many pools thinking they were gone forever.... after speaking with the concierge and showing them a picture the lost item was returned within 5 minutes.

They have a good but limited selection of strollers and wagons (first come first serve) which really help out.

The resort has a really good beach towel policy, all you have to is write down your room number, qty of towels you want to to borrow and sign your name on a piece of paper. Really good way of reusing. Which leads me to the negative part of this review and I mean REALLY BIG negative 👎

The amount of plastic bottles of water this resort uses/ offers to guests is really quite awful. Considering the resort is situated right on the ocean which is being destroyed by plastic waste this would be comical if the climate crisis was not so scary.

It’s a real shame the resort can’t offer re-usable bottles and filling stations that guests could use / leave the dirty bottles in their room for cleaning staff to pick up and replace with clean ones. Come on Princess Hotels WAKE UP and do your part. Change your ways and be a champion of your industry.

I was nervous to try the Family Club after some of the lackluster reviews, but we had a GREAT time. Kids pool and brunch were easy access, clean and comfortable. The larger buffets were a two minute walk and delicious; nothing fancy but easy to navigate with good options for adults and children. The adult pools looked like a whole lot of fun for this who could manage a hangover. The staff was friendly, attentive and drinks were not strong but were plentiful. The ice cream parlor in the family club was a big daily highlight. The beach was pretty crowded and the midday Saturday foam party made me laugh, but my kids were happy with it. Our eldest (6yo) loved the kids club and had a ton of fun. Our room was a walkout into the pool (lots of these rooms throughout the resort) and was extremely nice when navigating multiple afternoon naps. They also sent stuffies, little robes and a sand pail set, all that were used and made the kids pretty excited. Finally, we did try one of the restaurants and it was better than anticipated. Overall, if you are looking for a fun, easy family vacation with a few perks, this is a solid choice, and one we will be revisiting. I really liked how separate the family area was from the party area, I loved how well manicured and nice it was to walk around and the incredible ease and accessibility. We will likely be heading back in the future!!

We were in the family section which is great for babies and toddlers. A crib (with comfy mattress) was in our room on arrival and a curtain divided our king bed and additional bunks (thank goodness) so there were a separate space for our son. You can borrow kids strollers or cars for the week which is useful. Also comes with beach toys in the room. The pirate's buffet isn't great for eating when compared to other buffets onsite, but they do offer a kid friendly menu (hot dogs, simple pasta, baby food etc). William and Fabian who were stationed at the pool bar were phenomenal. Always so kind and willing to help. If you have older kids I'm sure the kids club would be great (4yrs and up) but I would suggest booking a swim out room because they'll get more out of it. Our upper floor room with a toddler was just fine. Only one elevator which is a total pain for some rooms, I'm guessing to funnel families from walking by the adult section further down. Still a total pain though.
Entertainment onsite was good not great. There are much better shows that will WOW you at other resorts. A la carte was also pretty simple and food not the nicest. If this was an adults vacation I would choose something better, but it worked for a young family. The beach was really nice too with a sandbar for kids to stand. Seaweed wasn't an issue... a minimal amount was there but, it's the ocean - get over it! You don't complain about trees in the forest. Otherwise thanks to Gisele who accommodated us with a late check out when our flight was delayed so that our son could nap, that was a game changer. Good resort but not tied to it. Will probably explore something different next time as we usually do.

We are current staying at the Grand Rivera Princess hotel, Cancún with three days left of our all inclusive hotel.

I just went to ask for a milkshake and the lady didn’t want to serve me and told me to go to reception and pay for it as only my daughter is allowed the ice cream shop as she have the pink family club bracelet. I went to the reception to paid for a milk shake and they didn’t want to sale it to me and make me feel really uncomfortable and humiliated just because I want to pay for a milk shake in a 4 star hotel. I can believe, honestly, felt that my voice was crackling, never felt so bad and I didn’t even want nothing for free.

When we did arrive at this hotel our room was so dirty and dusty, we had to clean to be able to organise our staff and I did reported to the reception, they promised a full clean the day after but for my surprise that never happen and I did reported again and at the end I give up and always was polite and try to understand until they very cold hearted deny me a milk shake.

Honestly! Choose a different hotel, the drinks are always in plastic cups, they only nice is you constantly tip, the rooms are so old, covers are falling apart, the toilets around the hotel are absolutely shocking, always dirty and blocked.

Looking forward to go back to the UK and next time back to my favourite hotel Moon Palace Cancún.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL and expect to have a Family Room that sleeps three children.

The children's bunk beds are not safe at all, no ladders, no rails at the top, very high and thick chunky laminated frames for small hands to try and grasp hold of to climb up. Our daughter fell (wide awake trying to climb up) and luckily we'd already moved the glass topped table from below where the child is expected to climb up the frame at the bottom of the bed. Check out other Trip Advisor reviews as other children have not been so lucky (hospital visits and stitches). The TUI rep (Vanessa) and the hotel do not seem to care that they are such a health and safety hazard. Telling me that if our children (4,10,11yrs) move in there sleep then we should not book a family room which has bunk beds!!

We are here for two weeks and after the fall (day 2) our child slept on the mattress on the floor - obviously not what you'd expect for 5*. After lots of waiting, hours and hours of wasted time, lots of conversations, they eventually gave us adjoining rooms so enough space for us all to have a proper safe bed. Tui paid half for the additional cost and we have to pay the additional half. We did not especially want two rooms, simply somewhere for us all to sleep.

The Family Room size is advertised is 59sqm... It isn't! we borrowed a tape measure from maintenance after our incident and measured the room. It is just less than 45sqm.

There are no drawers for clothes and we struggled to put two peoples clothes away so the three children had to live out of their suitcases the first week until after we moved and paid for an extra room.

Pool side bar staff are rude and do not serve in order of those waiting (and waiting and waiting!), they serve those who speak Spanish first.

Food is not 5 star standard in terms of taste, presentation or availability. The bookable restaurants are hit and miss. The food is often cold. The Mexican is disappointing.

The Chill Out Restaurant has a private beach area and comfy sunbeds which if you have a paid meal there and spend $45 per person you can then access the area each day following that. The drinks are free in the day but you have to pay for food. The staff are more friendly and helpful there.

The grounds of the hotel are well maintained and always look nice, the shuttle bus drivers and friendly too. Andrea and Cynthia at the hotel have been very supportive and tried to help us as much as they are able, which has been appreciated. No sign of any Senior Management to talk to despite asking.

Our first couple days before we learned some things we were not fans but then we figured out some tricks. I think if I could Id give this resort a 3.5, it was good but not “ really good” as the described by 4.

Facilities: The room was lovely with a huge jetted tub. The kids pool was great for our toddler. We weren’t surprised but a little disappointed our 2 year old couldn't use the kids club with a parent. It would have been a nice calm place to cool down but you have to be 4 and I think everyone leaves their kids. The property is massive so plan on a lot of walking. I heard others say the shuttle was hard to get but we had a very easy time using it, never waited more than 5 minutes.

The first thing to know the buffet is not just blah, it’s bad and you will not be able to reserve the restaurants reliably so expect the buffet. A trick to breakfast: hit up the hot omelette bar & fruit. That part is just fine. The other stuff, eggs etc is cold, greasy & salty. The omelette bar is a bit hidden, find it! Skip the OJ: pretty sure it is tang. At lunch we started doing sandwiches because the bread was good. The hot entrees, dinner & lunch are just really bad. We dined at the Snack Buffet and the Pirate buffet. The Pirate buffet, though smaller, was empty which made it much more manageable to do a buffet with a toddler. We stayed 5 nights and were only able to book a la carte one night. We ate at La Fleur and it was outstanding. We wish we could have had more a la carte meals and would have paid more for it.

When we went to the beach the first day we were directed to a portion covered, I mean covered in algae, you could not make your way to the water. A waitress told us it was no better anywhere else. We decided the next day to try again, we went the other direction and there was perfectly useable/ water access, lots of umbrellas and open chairs.

Overall a nice vacation.

Our stay here at Princess Family Club was great. The staff is friendly and always helpful. We booked a room with pool access and it was the best choice we made since we have three children. They enjoyed the their stay and so did we. There’s a bar with friendly staff next to our room and a jacuzzi right next to it. Marvin and Veronica were tending bar there and were both awesome.
The buffet restaurants were great, we were expecting average or below average food choices (based on some of the other reviews) but I can tell you that both, Riviera, Sunset and Snack buffets were great with lots of choices, we were greeted at those restaurants by Hermigio, Lorenzo, Jose and others, these three waiters were great. The a la carte restaurants were great surprise also, we went to La Vaqueria and la Hacienda, the Captain at La Hacienda was extremely friendly and helpful with all of our gastronomic needs. Miguel Quezada, the Captain is the reason our family felt welcomed and almost at home. He is great and he can make sure that your experience at his restaurants meet your expectations. Thank you so much Miguel for going above and beyond each time we had dinner at your restaurants. You made our dinners special.
Eduardo the concierge was also very helpful and a pleasure to deal with.
The staff at the Platinum snack/bar were also great and extremely friendly and attentive.
We are planning to comeback sometime before the end of the year or sometime in early 2022.

The hotel is within close proximity to Xcaret, Xochimilco, Cozumel and Puerto Morelos.

We used the hotels taxi service to get around and by far you should ask for Gerardo, he drives a mini van that can get families and/or groups anywhere. Gerardo was patient with us and got us from the hotel to our activities safely and in a timely manner.

We had a great family holiday but was slightly spoiled by our experience with the dive school. I booked a two dive trip from 8am until 12.30 pm , the dive school said we would definitely be back at 12.30pm I needed to be back to look after my children and another diver had to be back for a Covid test. We met up in the morning and was taken to a different hotel where the dive masters told us to get into the pool and do a refresher course I am an experienced diver and was told I didn’t need to do this. We then checked the items Ty for the day and we wasn’t actually getting the boat out until 11am and we wouldn’t return until around 3pm ish this didn’t work with the rest of the plans for the day so we asked the dive master to arrange transport back to our hotel. The owner of the dive club apologised for the mix up in bookings and said that we would be funded the $125 for the dives that never happened. That was on 31/12/21 and I still haven’t received my refund.

We are just finishing a two week stay in the family club. We have had a swim up room and the room and pool have been fantastic. The only gripe I have is that TUI wouldn’t let us book a room in family club without a child being in the room but we found multiple rooms filled with just Mexican adults. One of the rooms above vomited over the balcony and we reported it at 7am, we had to report it a further 7 times and it didn’t get cleaned up until the following day. We couldn’t use the swim up pool for 2 full days as the rain was washing the vomit into the pool.

The food hasn’t been good in the buffet. Breakfast was good but the other meals was not good quality. We really enjoyed the Italian, the Thai and le fleur. The tapinyaki was awful and so was the steak house.

The internet is atrocious so booking a restaurant has been a nightmare

Alexa on the concierge in family club has been amazing - so helpful and going above and beyond to help us.

A massive shout out has to go to ALEXANDRA the life guard. She has gone above a beyond to keep our children safe, be helpful, teaching our children Spanish and showing them the wildlife. She is the kindest, most caring person I have ever met and does an amazing job! She has made our holiday perfect and we are going to miss her!

This place definitely over promises and under delivers. We travelled with our two kids (almost 1 and 7) and stayed in one of the swim up rooms. That part was actually great, and we loved our swim up. If we didn't have it I think it could have been way worse as a vacation. There was bunk beds but they did not look safe so our 7 year old slept on the pullout bed at the bottom of the bunk bed for safety reasons. The food is awful not just mediocre. It's the same every meal basically and most of it is cold and flavour less. We didn't bother with the restaurants so I can't say either way. The ice cream bar is a nice perk and our son loved it. The unfortunate part is that the resorts are connected so there was a lot of lobby bleed through with the other resorts which meant we got a lot of loud drunk people several times which sucked but we didn't mind all that much. The beach was unusable except for one single day when they cleaned it. It also stunk to high heaven ( I don't know if that was due to the seaweed piles or something else). The resort itself is beautiful but it's let down by the level of service provided (especially if you didn't speak Spanish) and the lack of staff following their own rules (like several times seeing people at the main buffet in their bathing suits). At the price point it is, it was dissapointing and we would definitely not return.

We used amenities for all resorts on the property expect for the one requiring adults only. We didn’t use pools by the Family club even though we stayed there, because in late December the water was too cold. We went to the main pools that are on the way to the beach where pools were more exposed to the sun and water was warmer. Everything is pretty walkable. I don’t think it matters which resort people are staying at. Kids club was useful because water play are is next door and it’s quieter, but other than that all amenities are available to all.
