Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa, nestled on a picturesque beachfront, garners praise for its diverse amenities and stunning landscapes, though it is noted for being somewhat remote and potentially crowded. Guests laud the friendly and professional staff, despite occasional slow service and room-related issues.
While the vibrant evening entertainment and activities contribute to an engaging atmosphere, some areas are highlighted for improvement. Travelers report concerns with noise levels and room maintenance, and some question the value, pointing to expensive upgrades and hidden costs against the backdrop of a generally clean environment.

I wanted to share my experience at Dreams Tulum Resort in Mexico. Tulum is about an hour and a half drive from Cancun. We flew into Tulum's new airport, which is easy to navigate, nicely decorated, and less crowded.
Getting to the hotel was seamless with transfers booked through Amstar. While the hotel lobby seemed a bit outdated, the grounds are stunning with a charming Hacienda vibe. Our balcony room was spacious, featuring a shower, jetted tub, and a separate sitting area with a small dining table. Our room attendant kept the space impeccably clean, with service twice a day.
Food: The resort has 9 restaurants and bars, as well as some shops. The buffet was often crowded and seemed small, with limited choices, though there were plenty of vegetarian options. The coffee was excellent, and staff inquired about food allergies or dietary restrictions. The specialty restaurants were average, with the Italian restaurant falling short. Most of the waiters were friendly, except for one in the Italian restaurant who was inattentive.
Entertainment: We visited during Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) weekend, celebrated with great enthusiasm in Mexico. The celebrations were fantastic and are said to last all of November.
Pools: There are two large adult pools, one with a swim-up bar. The entertainment team was engaging, with activities like water aerobics and pool volleyball. The Sky Bar came alive at night with live music and bands, perfect for night owls who love to dance.
Beach: Unfortunately, the beach had a lot of seaweed (sargasso), which was disappointing as we couldn't swim in the ocean.
Warning: Be cautious of pushy salespeople trying to sell club memberships, which are essentially timeshares. Avoid being lured with promises of coupons or "leisure money" for excursions, as it can take up a whole day of your vacation.
Overall, we didn't spend much time at the resort, but I recommend it for those seeking more information about this hotel. There were four weddings during our stay, and the hotel's grounds and gardens are perfect for beautiful photos. I hope this helps someone.

We returned to visit this hotel and we continue to think that it is one of the best that the dreams chain has. Positive points: having a UVC membership gives an added bonus to the visit (from the moment of purchase there are good promotions), they let us check in early and check out late, upgrade in the room with a very good location and the attention of Natalia (members ) was excellent because we enjoyed the talk with her and she clarified all our doubts. Restaurants with a lot of variety and good food, especially the specialty ones. The preferred reception staff and the bar manager were always very attentive and the drinks were delicious. The hotel activities are varied and fun and there is something for all tastes. As a couple we loved the live music and the family atmosphere that we were able to enjoy with the outdoor activities. The cherry on the cake and the main reason why we returned was the kids club because Laura, Patricia, Leslie, Mariela and Valeria were always in the best disposition and with all the attitude so that our little girl could enjoy her vacation to the fullest (crafts, games , attention, fun, patience, etc.) the kids club remains without comparison, although there are some details in the facilities that can be improved, the reality is that a lot depends on the attitude of the staff and these ladies get a 10. Pool staff always attentive, clean beach (obviously there is sargassum but it is tolerable), even though the distances between some places are very long, the walk is enjoyable because the hotel is clean, well-kept common areas and a lot of nature to enjoy. On negative points: the Himitsu restaurant warned us that there was a 20-minute waiting time and since it does not have pagers we had to go in to ask many times because it actually took 40 minutes and they asked us to be nearby all that time, once we When we entered, it took them 30 minutes to bring the food (not even the appetizers arrived before that, it was all together) and since they didn't have a children's menu, the last thing to arrive was my little girl's rice (we assume it was like that because it came from the table at the table). temppanyaki because as soon as the show ended and the chef came in with some containers he brought from the table, the dish arrived), another negative point was that the room was cleaned until we reported after 6 pm. Overall it was a spectacular few days and we hope to be able to return

The facilities are generally well maintained, however they could pay more attention and improve some areas of the hotel which is understandable because due to the location, climate, etc. it is difficult for them to remain intact. The rooms are not very large, the one I stayed in was a deluxe double swim-out garden view room, which met what was offered. The only complaint with the room service is that they never stocked the minibar and I had to talk to the housekeeper.
Restaurants, Good quality food, little variety, and the most delicate thing is that they are very small (except the world café) therefore the wait to enter is very long, sometimes 20 or more minutes. The drinks are an issue since the only ones that are half worth it are the preferred ones and even so they leave something to be desired. I find it distasteful that you order a drink that is on their menu and they tell you that they have run out ( Really?) Something uncomfortable is that you are in the restaurant and order a drink and they tell you that you can only order it at the preferred club (get up from your table, go to the preferred club, order your drink and return to the restaurant... the truth is That's a huge area of opportunity. The breakfast buffet definitely lacks variety and pay attention to the employees who are at the omelet grills since their attitude leaves a lot to be desired. In general, the lowest quality services were breakfast at the world café. The teppanyaki experience is very pleasant, the food and quality of service are excellent, Captain Luis is very professional and resolves setbacks in an excellent way. Pool beach, generally very clean, excellent quality service Francisco with the Balinese beds and Enrique in the service the best thing that happened to us at their resort. The explorer Club is also one of the best areas of the hotel, all the ladies who collaborate in the explorer are very professional, attentive, careful and loving with children, it really gives you confidence to leave the children in that special fun space for them. Last but not least Ester at the reception of the preferred club, excellent image, attention, cordiality, she makes you feel really welcome and at the exit she makes your experience close in the best way, an excellent professional and human being. Knowing the small setbacks that the complex has, even so, for all the good things I received, it will be among the future options to consider.

Between a king and a double bed go king the double matress give little to no support. Make sure your room functions properly all lights shut off upon receving your room. Having to move rooms after you already un packed because of ac issues or lights staying on is not fun. Garden is beautiful great shows. We never found some restaurants and the hibachi is next to impossible to book a reservation. The ice cream is awesome the world cafe will sometimes show closed at the door but that just means they moved it outside. The patio restaurant is a must. Conciere during the day is very slow to get things done. Waited 45 min for help to move my luggage from one room to another and the help never got there. The elevators on the junior garden suites are not operational so be ready to walk up and down stairs.

I liked how the staff was attentive and responsive to my needs. However, I could not get a towel by the pool area at all during my stay. That was frustrating. I told a couple of gentlemen and they kept saying they would put more towels but they never did. The food is AMAZING at this resort. If it weren't for the food- I would not have graded it as high as I did honestly. The drinks were terrible and in my honest opinion, not worth an all inclusive package. I asked for an Absolute with cranberry juice and the bartender opened a bottle of water in front of me and poured half of it in my cup after he poured a shot of vodka in the glass! When I asked him why he did that, he said the cranberry juice was "too concentrated". That is a NO for me. I also feel like they take too much of your time trying to sell you a "vacation club" not a "time share" in a breakfast that they tell you is only an hour and a half but it turns in to almost 3 hours. This should not be forced upon people. The gentleman that set me up for the breakfast approached us right at the check in desk and made sure to put us down for the breakfast right away for the next morning but then he lied to me about the day he put me down for my romantic birthday dinner and Edith at the front desk had to clean up his mess. Another thing about the resort is that although it is beautiful and my room was beautiful as well, it needs to be tended to. Leaks were everywhere. Water came in my room, the entire wall was soaked and the buffet had plaster hanging from the ceilings and towels all over the floor for all the water that was coming in. Maybe that's why there weren't any towels by the pool.

We went to the Dreams Tulum thinking that the Dreams Hotels standard would be reflected throughout these hotels. SURPRISE this was not the case…. As usual, we took the Preferred Club option which added another $400 to our trip which we normally get a decent share of extras. Even after asking the Preferred Club employees, it took 3 days to have our room done and add a housecoat that was taken away by the cleaning staff and never was replaced. One turndown done in the hole week and that was the last night of our stay. An old slipper was found under the bed. The “Quiet pool” is far from being quiet even after telling the staff. People (adults and children) were throwing a football, yelling and a horrible sewer odour coming from the beach. No need to say that there is no Preferred Club pool like at other Dreams Resorts, the preferred beach had a sewer odour as well and seaweeds all over the beach. The food at the buffet was OK but the Bordeau and Portofino were excellent. They offer scuba diving adventures but you must go to Cancun or Playa Del Carmen which is minimum an hour to an hour and a half taxi ride only to go, however there are PADI diving clubs downtown which they don’t suggest us using?? The checkout was scheduled at noon, so we went to the room at 11:45 to get our thing organized and meet the bell boy and the magnetic card was not working anymore. After waiting until 1210 for the bell boy we had to bring our luggage to the Preferred Club because nobody showed up as per the agreement. The hotel should be rated no more than 3.5

It is not Dreams any more. This resort has really nice beach but they don't care about seaweeds (that smelled), beautiful gardens which open only for special occasion. The food was the same every lunch and dinner for 7 days. We stayed 7 nights and our room was cleaned just 3 times (no cleaning on New Year Eve, New Year, Saturdays and Sundays. New Year Eve they asked extra for normal dinner (nothing better than usual) and a bottle of shampagne from $300.00 to 800.00. What? We paid already $12,000.00 for that vacationn (everything included in Dreams). We booked this vacation through Air Vacation but we didn't have any representative there. Every time when we have questions we had to spent at least half an hour because these noisy people attacted us trying to sell Hyatt vacation. We like location, people working there. The management should be changed. We will not come back.

This was our first vacation at Dreams Tulum but hopefully, not our last. Take under consideration that the travel time from the Cancun Airport to this resort takes at least 2 hours....maybe more. It is isolated from any other resort. If you enjoy quiet times with impressive gardens and fountains, as well as iguanas and raccoons; this would be a perfect place for your holiday. Walking fair distances is essential, although the use of golf carts by the employees for assistance is readily available. We were in Building 16 which is a fair distance from the pools and ocean, however, we enjoy walking so that was not a concern for us. The room was kept very clean and our shower (waterfall) was wonderful with hot water and great pressure with the exception of one afternoon. The problem was experienced by the entire resort and it was quickly resolved. We had our breakfast at the main Buffet and although it was smaller than we have experienced, there was plenty to choose from. For lunch, we enjoyed the Seaside Grill which provided magnificent views of the ocean! We dined at all of the specialty restaurants which require no reservations. However, if you enjoy eating by 7:00p.m., you should be at the venue by 6:00 to 6:30. All of the restaurants are table service which we really enjoyed. The food was quite good as was the atmosphere. There are dress codes which patrons should respectfully adhere to in order to maintain a high standard for the pleasure of the other customers. Long pants for men and slacks/skirts/dresses for women are mandatory for dining in the French Restaurant. In our opinion, we felt it should also be mandatory in the Italian restaurant with the beautiful light fixtures and attractive table settings. The pools were kept clean and there were always plenty of soft brown towels (SOME people took many towels and layered them on the loungers...quite selfish, indeed.) Swimming in the ocean was difficult with a fair amount of seaweed although the blue tractor and several employees raked it up many many times. We were fortunate to have packed water shoes due to rocks. So, if you're planning on swimming in the ocean, go to Walmart and do yourself a favour and buy a pair. You will be thankful that you did! We received wonderful assistance from Claudia at the concierge desk and Angel and Abner at the reception desk. Thank you to all of them! We most definitely would return, but with the long drive from the airport to the resort, we would like to stay 10 days instead of the 7. On a personal note: Go to this resort with an open mind knowing you are in Mexico and not in Canada, USA or Europe and you will enjoy the gorgeous weather and the natural location. We appreciated the people with their smiles and willingness to help. Mucho Gracias!!

It is a beautiful hotel, you find animals of all kinds in the corridors. The entertainers Ricky, Paola and Alex, there was also another boy who do not remember his name are charming and give you a great time, has a beautiful beach with little sargassum, on the other hand there is a small coral barrier where with a snorkel and our glasses we enjoy seeing thousands of manta ray fish about 50 m from the hotel.
The rooms are very good, they are very comfortable with bathroom, large shower and very comfortable king bed, towards time I did not sleep so well, so much so that at 6 in the morning we were already awake, that if they lack maintenance, my family occupied 3 and we found that in the one of my children the TV only had a channel and a leak of the air conditioning, in ours smelled a bit of plumbing as the wind will blow and in the other everything perfect. Our safe ran out of batteries and would not open us, with a simple screwdriver they open them. Depending on what type of room you occupy you will have use of a private pool from your balcony. Be careful because check out if or if it is before 12 and not at the time you are picked up. Which is quite uncomfortable because if you are picked up at 3 pm you are not able to make use of the hotel waiting at reception dying of heat. In addition to closing the room they intend to charge you 65 € late, we escaped because even being prepared we could not leave because the safe did not open.
If you want a hotel that is not in the noise maker, quality and in the middle of the Jungle this is yours. It's about 2 hours and a half from the airport. And Holbox Island or Playa del Carmen excursions are further away, obviously Tulum Ruins are much closer and swimming with turtles as well and Chichen itza about 2 h.
You'll find a lot of Americans who tip like they're getting their money and they keep asking for Tips all over (tips) not only at the hotel but everywhere. For Spaniards we find it a little abusive, otherwise the das look at you badly and do not treat you the same when you drop pasta, miss everywhere and very friendly.
The restaurants except the Italian that has nothing to do with Italy and the patio that is the Mexican, all the others are great, the tepanyaki table very fun and delicious, if you are not American and book with a bottle of charisma pairing in a restaurant you will have a hard time waiting 1 hour but outside having a mango margarita will pass you fast.

This was our first time visiting an all-inclusive resort in Mexico, and we were very satisfied with the experience. The personnel are exceptionally friendly and helpful at every venue, and we found good food at each of the restaurants we tried, especially at Seaside Grill which was our favorite.
Our room was clean, spacious and in very good condition. We had the "Preferred Club Junior Suite Ocean View King Room" with an excellent view of the pool, beach and ocean. The bathroom, shower and tub area were huge, and the living room area had ample space for the two of us.
The VIP desk was able to fix us up with excursions to the nearby ruins, cenotes, snorkeling and a taco tour in Playa del Carmen.
The only venue we found disappointing was the Sky Bar, which claims to be a "sports bar", but was unlike any sports bar I've ever visited. It was simply a mostly empty room with a big TV screen on the wall and a bar in the corner. No tables, no sports memorabilia on the walls, and no food service. They did set up a bunch of chairs to show the NFL Conference Championships, which we appreciated, but the experience would have been better in a real sports bar with table, bar food, etc.
