Great place, great beach and great service. Shoutout to Christian for a great stay! We had some great tacos and fajitas along with good drinks. Everyone should spend one of their days in Tulum at a beach med at PPP!

We are staying in tulum town and we're looking to spend our afternoon at the beach. The PPP beach club allowed us in after we requested even though the beach club full sign was up because I had messaged them in advance. Christian and his pirates were very attentive. The ceviche and tostadas were great. Cost of entry just buying...

Tulum is gorgeous no matter what but do yourself a favor and stay at Papaya Playa Project. The easy-going, laid-back beach vibes are only enhanced by the EXCELLENT staff and service. Upon arrival I was immediately welcomed warmly with a big hug and huge smile from Fermin! He will make sure that you have everything you need....which isn't a lot...

My partner and I have just returned home from nine days at Papaya Playa. Our feelings were mixed. We had one of the ocean front cabanas (room 30). The room itself is very basic - nice big bathroom, small double bed, no real furniture, and, bizarrely given the room faces the rising sun, only net curtains. Fine for us as...

I travel quite a bit and always throughly do my homework and I read plenty of reviews on PPP prior to my booking it. The hotel is unassuming at check in very low key reception area but once you get pass the checkin area the loveliness begins. The ocean front bar and beach club are boho chic and comfy! The...

This place is absolutely magical. Me and my two friends loved it so much there, we didn't want to leave. We had a standard room and it had everything we needed. The place doesn't seem like a hotel, more like a resort for creative, opend-minded people and artists, we've met so many interesting people there. The people whom are working...

Christian couldn't be more helpful in catering to my 11 girl party. He surpassed each and every request we had (which were a lot), made it a point to remember our names, and always delivered a smile with anything else we ordered. Thank you ! 5 stars for Christian!

This hotel has the longest beach area in Tulum. Its rooms and structure makes you enjoy the essence of the Mayan jungle. It has a natural mystic vibe all year long!!! Parties are great on Saturdays and you should definitely not miss their Full Moon Event, its magical!! Service is great, staff becomes family in a very shortly time! You...

We stayed at PPP for three nights using SPG points. When we booked, we were unable to book one of the newer rooms (casitas) through SPG points so we picked an ocean view older casita thinking the quality could not be all that different. We arrived early so our room was not ready yet. While we waited we enjoyed the...

Agree with other reviewers. This is NOT a luxury hotel. The ocean front cabins are cramped. Only offer small stools as furniture and I saw 3 cockroaches in my during my stay. The waitstaff is good, but the front desk staff isn't very helpful.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Introducing, PAPAYA PLAYA PROJECT , A MEMBER OF DESIGN HOTELS™ PROJECT a true sustainable project in Tulum. Having sought far and wide for a place to create an authentic, nurturing experience, the 900 meter stretch of oceanfront paradise cocooned on the Caribbean coast of the Mayan Riviera was the perfect spot. Together with the owners of of the existing Papaya Playa beach resort, Design Hotels™ is initiating the ultimate pop-up camp. Claus Sendlinger explains: “Our idea was to create a transitory, yet deeply culturally-rooted experience and we couldn’t have dreamed up a better place to make this happen. Capitalizing on the natural environment and multicultural character of Tulum, we quickly put together an international team of real visionaries, each enriching the experience with their own food, music, design or wellness concept. The enthusiasm and creative energy of everyone involved enabled us to renovate the camp and put together a holistic program within a very short period of time.” So come December, the authentic-pleasure seekers have a new raw-luxe camp they can sink and rub their feet into. Eighty-five cabanas have been renovated by the Design Hotels™ creative team. Integrating local materials and building techniques, they encourage its residents to soak in the warmth of the elements, both physically and mentally. The separation between man and nature diminishes in these rustic spaces while the perception of small indulgences – like high thread count sheets, flowing mosquito nets and thick towels – is heightened. The ultimate luxury in most of the cabanas, is the private porch, where hammocks gently swing guests into sync with Tulum’s laid-back rhythm. ... more   less
