Far from the best. Mark, the owner never showed us where sewer dump was(under piece of plywood on grass). Never showed us where to put garbage or where washrooms or showers were and found out from neighbor camper we needed a key to use the showers which was never given to us. Bathrooms and showers smell like mold and soap and t-paper ran out once and took almost 24 hrs to replace. Fire pit has a pipe welded to it and sat ontop of 2 upright cinder blocks. Was not stable or safe. Picnic tables are rotten and weak and I wouldn't advise sitting on them. The kids slide I noticed near the bottom was a tennis ball covering a metal rod sticking out of the ground. Mark seems interested in making money and going out on his pontoon boat instead of running a campground.
stay away, horrible facility, and lake is full of algae , kids both got the itch, and my friends stopped in and they left right away. Smells like mold . Every night, campers out back walking around drunk, and swearing. smoking, urinating outside and wearing unflattering clothing.
The rooms are so cozy and have a cabin feel, we loved it! A large group of us went up for the weekend, booked the suite to cook and hang out. The beach is just across the road, the lake is beautiful and apparently great for fishing. Sandy Lake is a beautiful town, we will definitely be back.
I can't say enough good things about this place. I spent the weekend in Sandy Lake at this great, family run business, and the owners, Mark and Ambra, went well out of their way to make us feel welcome. If so inclined, it's also a short drive to Riding Mountain National Park, but we found Sandy Lake much quieter and more to our preference, so we returned to spend the day relaxing on the Sandy Lake beach, which was only a short, 5-10 minute walk from the motel. The motel itself is clean and quiet, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting a family friendly vacation spot.
Recently stayed in the motel for the weekend with friends. The new owners are extremely attentive and helpful. The rooms are huge, very clean, and the beds are super comfy. It’s a very short walk to the beach and other attractions around Sandy Lake. I’ll definitely be going back!
New owners are very welcoming. Great place to take the family. We stayed in the campground, sites are a good size and serviced at a very reasonable price. Nice to have showers and laundromat on site. We will be going back again .
Once we got hold of Mitch and got the room, it was good, The room was bigger and we liked the fact that there was a laundromat. It was very handy and convenient and it was clean. We came here as we were leaving the next day and we wanted to organize the car without going up and down stairs, The price was decent too and it was nice that while most of town had no water we still did.
On June 6th, 2014 I booked a room for September 6th, 2014. A man by the name of Mitch confirmed I had a room for 1 night $69 cash only. On June 30th at 2:22pm I received a phone call from Mitch to inform me that he found out that the reason I would be staying in Sandy Lake was for the wedding in town. He advised me that he does not like the groom of who's wedding we are attending and I no longer have a room booked with him. I do not know this man named "Mitch" but I am appalled that any business owner/operator can operate their business in this way. This certainly is NOT a good reflection upon Travel Manitoba of which this business is networked with.
