Break away to Sun Retreats at Sherkston Shores ( formerly known as Sherkston Shores Beach Resort). and enjoy southern Ontario's vacation destination on the beautiful sandy shores of Lake Erie. This sprawling resort offers 560 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds with 4 km (2.5 miles) of sandy beachfront for family activities. Our resort, amenities, and facilities are exclusive for those staying with us; campers, renters, seasonal RVers, vacation cottage owners, and their guests. Vacation rentals accommodate up to 6 guests depending on style and layout. Enjoy an upgraded cottage layout that includes a furnished living room, private bathroom, heat and air conditioning, Wifi access, and cable TV with a DVD player. The kitchen is fully equipped with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, cookware, dinnerware and utensils. There is also a deck with a picnic table, charcoal grill, and a fire pit for your outdoor enjoyment. Bed linens are not provided. All campsites have resort access to beaches, our quarry, water park and FunPlex. Lakefront, wheelchair accessible and pet-friendly rentals are available.
We camped with our own trailer at the Quarry, sites are close together as expected in a private campground. We stayed from Sunday to Saturday. We came here so the kids could have a resort experience. They did enjoy the water slides, pool, arcade, swimming in the quarry and doing the Splash works course. At this location we managed without a golf cart as it's a short walk to the pools and Family Activity Centre. We only went to the Lake Erie beach once as it's further and the kids were satisfied with the other activities. Our first two days it was raining but we took advantage of this and went on the water slides. There were no lines! There are daily activities posted but we didn't do any of them as we had plenty to do. There is quite a bit of extras that cost extra, be prepared to spend more or you will be saying no a lot. We did do the Splash Course, trampoline, rock walk and the arcade. (Which a cost more, our pool pass was included in our original camp fees, watch for sales. We booked with a Black Friday deal) A carnaval came but we did not do that. We enjoyed our stay here but I give 4 stars because it was noisy. Quite hours are not respected. The weekend nights were the loudest,Sunday of the long weekend I heard music etc until 2:00 AM. The following Friday, people were yelling repeatedly after midnight. The washrooms also were dirty, not the resorts fault but disrespectful guests. There appeared to be a toilet paper fight as globs of tissue were everywhere in the ladies washroom. Perhaps switch out the taps as two have mold in them giving a gross feeling to the washroom. For an upscale camp resort I expected more visible security and more cleanliness. The beaches should be picked for garbage daily. There was goose poop and garbage on the beach that I passed by days in a row. The pool area, was clean. We did see some wildlife here fish and a Screech owl in the wooded area by the Quarry transient sites.

My family and I (2 adults, 3 x 16yrs, 1 x13yrs) travelled to Sherkston for the first time July 12-16. We rented privately and the trailer/trailer owner was wonderful, no issue at all. Upon arrival to the park I found it interesting that no map was provided to show where your site is. Luckily the owner provided basic directions so we had an idea of where to go. In the welcome package provided by the park there was an Hours of Operation info sheet. This sheet gives times for pool, water slides, pool bar, lcbo, etc. What it doesn’t give is a listing of activities for that week. I’ve heard of all the activities like movies, chocolate bar bingo, etc but we didn’t know when or where any of that was. Stumbled upon a market just as it was closing because we happen to be going to the quarry but again it would have been nice to know of these things happening. Owners and regular renters may know when these things happen, but us newbies have no clue. I saw food trucks in a parking lot and they opened every so often, but no schedule was given. It took me a day and making friends with regulars to find out the super mart was where the LCBO sign was. Again I just think there was a lack of info provided during check in. My friends have all asked if I got the fresh baked buns that you can preorder from the bakery - where the heck was the bakery? I feel like we missed out on a lot.
We travelling during Stage 2 of the pandemic so we knew there would be challenges along the way. What I find interesting is that you still have to pay $15 per person for bands to use resort facilities. We didn’t use the pool at all because line ups were crazy and the kids didn’t make the cut a couple of times, arcade was closed, other things at Funplex were at extra charge, mini putt was rammed too. The only things we used away from the trailer was the quarry, which we had to pay extra for the inflatable water thing and the wake boarding. So we paid $15 for nothing in my mind, but I guess others have the patience to wait on long lines ;)
All in all it was a nice week, but nothing special. This place has a lot of clout but I’m not sure it lives up to the hype or the price tag.

We booked a last minute get away with our RV close to quarry beach. The positives; Quarry Beach was lovely, soft sand and consistent water though it was extremely weedy. For what they charge they could scale back on the weeds a bit.
The atmosphere was a little too party for my tastes with a lot of rude people and foul language. Not the resorts fault but definitely a deterrent.
The biggest turn off for me was the golf carts. It isn’t safe to do any serious walking because there are golf carts everywhere and no enforced road rules for them. They drive on pedestrian walk ways to get around speed bumps and zip around with drivers openly drinking. If you want to go any where you have to rent one or drive (80$ a day or 500$ for the week)
I get that some things had to be adjusted for covid but why are water slides closed? If the indoor water parks can figure it out what is your excuse?? If you can’t sort it out then adjust you exorbitant rates accordingly. Why have every playground open except for the really cool 3 story one?
Also be prepared to be charged through the nose for everything. They have figured out how to get all the things you have to pay for open that’s for sure.
Ultimately we had a nice time but it just wasn’t worth the cost.

I have stayed a Sherkston 11 times over the years. Twice this summer. This past long Labour Day weekend we booked a property through a new Private management company at Sherkston called “Visit Sherkston” on site 196 Forrest Grove in the Hickory Lane section. The property was not as advertised. The Decour was great, and that is amazing for the owners who did it. But the company managing it is doing the absolute bare minimum on upkeep and cleaning the property. It was truly disgusting in regards to cleanliness, especially when you’re paying over 500 a night 🤯. But the worst part of it all was the unprofessionalism of the staff from ‘Visit Sherkston’, specifically, Sue Ann and Cassandra. In person when advising of the cleanliness issues, I was continually interrupted by Sue Ann who refused to listen or look at the issues that were presented. She was defensive and said that the place looks fine. My video and pictures speak for themselves.
We then had one of the televisions that did not work when we were there as one of the fire stick remotes was missing and they were not interchangeable for each TV. The messages that I received from “visit Sherkston“ through the Airbnb site was truly deplorable. At no point did I ever know who I was speaking or texting with. They were unprofessional and rude, and blamed me for being a “complainer“ and “what did I expect from a vacation rental at the beach”? MORE! A lot More!
I have spent a lot of money in this resort over the past 10 years, and I honestly do not think I will be returning after this terrible experience that took up a lot of time during the weekend due to having to deal with Airbnb, who were dealing with ‘Visit Sherkston’. This issue could easily have been resolved on the Friday when we arrived had their team been professional and apologetic for the dirtiness of the property. And refunded some of the money instead, Airbnb had to deal with them the entire weekend and I have been given money back by Airbnb, but only $100 by ‘Visit Sherkston’ as they refused any more refund. They have only been in business for six months. I can’t see them being successful with this type of lack of leadership and professionalism. Blaming the customer, who is immune compromised from cancer, about the cleanliness of the property. Mind blowing.

Hi Lee, Thank you for visiting through the years. We're happy to hear that you have had great vacations here in the past, and we're sorry that your experience with this third-party rental was an unsatisfactory one. Did you know that we offer vacation rentals directly through the resort? You can check availability or make reservations through our website. Be sure to also check the Special Offers section of our website for money-saving deals throughout the year. We'd love for you to come back again!

The park needs a lot of work, for the amount of people they allow in they need to step up on their amenities and places for families/visitors to enjoy their stay to the fullest. Minimal play grounds for children, you have to pay extra for the pool area and splash pad. At the very least the splash pad should have a separate entrance for the littles to enjoy it and it not be an extra cost, seems a bit gougy.
The beach is nice and looks to be clean BUT the resort does not inform you when the water is contaminated same with the quarry .There was ecoli during our visit and no one was made aware, it's up to the visitor to do their due diligence. I find that dishonest. For the size of the resort if the beach is unsafe there should always be an alternative for vacationers to swim. the pool is set at a capacity (understandably) but maybe putting in another pool could be a consideration. This is not a cheap vacation for people. Also for the beach area- the golf carts are great to get around but as far as people driving up and down the beach it should be better monitored I witnessed several times where small children were almost hit by golf carts going way to fast down the beach. Maybe a designated parking/driving area should be implemented to keep everyone safe.
The public bathrooms are disgusting!! All of them are filth, including the one in the arcade/entertainment area. The showers were also disgusting! I rate this area of the resort a zero!
Another note- I specifically ran into the same maintenance employee several times and she was absolutely RUDE! I'll describe her so you can keep an eye out, old, curly gray hair and miserable. She cut the grass during our stay and was also on garabge detail. Shaking her head at kids, scouffing at families- just absolutely rude, stear clear of her. It's a vacation park if you don't like people or kids get a new job!
The nights were so loud with the golf carts and blaring music. The park definitely doesn't take security, safety or noise control seriously. Guests/owners driving all hours of the night blaring music and whizzing down the road is a red flag. During the weekend it carried on well past 2 am. Security was no where to be found.
Our family will not return to Sherkston Shores, it was very disappointing. Read all reviews and take them into consideration before booking here.

Hi Samantha, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are sorry that your experience did not meet expectations. As is the standard for all public and private beaches, we have signage that posts current conditions as updated by the Niagara Region. Guests are encouraged to check the notices daily and of course make the best decisions for themselves and their families. We care about our guests and provide many opportunities for family fun to fit a variety of ages and interests. If you book your stay with us (as opposed to renting privately), the waterpark and splash pad are included in your reservation. We appreciate your feedback and have passed your comments along to our management team to help guide our future improvements.

Sherkston Shores is not what I remember from the last time I visited. It was very busy, and not as peaceful/restful as I would have hoped. The beach was crowded. The waterpark was a waiting in line nightmare.
We stayed at a trailer in July 2021. It was a private rental and, I can assure you, I will never do again. If you are thinking of getting a rental, PLEASE go through Sherkston Shores directly, not through private rentals.
The trailer was ok, nothing special. However, the owner left renters no space for their own stuff, all drawers and cabinets were completely full of their own stuff. Freezer was stocked full of their own food. The golf cart that we paid extra for barely worked and made loud jittery noises the entire time we drove it.
The check out though - that was where it all soured. The owner had a long page of all the things we had to do to ensure we got our deposit back. We cleaned that trailer up and down. It was cleaner when we left then when we found it, I can promise you that. We swept and washed the floors. We swept and cleaned the patio. We removed "fingerprints" from the sliding door and windows, etc etc.
Now...everything would have ended just ok there...but no, we had a battle of words for says after over items that they claimed were "taken" from the trailer. Some people rent because they need the money and not because they like renting, and it shows.

This camp ground had to many adults and young adults drive golf karts. No one obeyed the traffic laws and there was absolutely no enforcement… Very dangerous to walk around…. On arrival the site was littered with trash and the site next door had a broken glass panel on the front deck that no one cleaned up…Vey disappointing especially for the nightly price…. Would not go back….

So I’m glad to see I’m not the only one feeling ripped off. I rented private a great cabin on Wyldewood Beach. Long weekend for Canada day Went to get ice cream sold out A friend asked for smokes and gave me a 20. Smokes were 21.27. It’s okay I was only miles from the cabin. Took kids for water park passes. Pool at capacity. I asked yo be notified. Nope. Just try again later Then went to quarry. Water inflatables. At capacity Go back to the sales centre and the vacation rentals is closed. Go into the owners centre and get water park passes about 30 minutes after the first attempt The only thing that is free now is the beach and it’s full of disrespectful non Canadian visitors that have no respect for nature or family values. The place was filtlthy by Sunday. The stench of the garbage was unreal with bins overflowing and stuff ripped up by wildlife. The kids loved the action as they were 14 but as the one who had to not relax in order to meet their needs my trip was ruined with the constant back n forth almost begging to use the facilities that I paid a lot to be near and have access to. This place is failing its guests with overcrowding and policing the wrong type of stuff. Access to the pool should be free. I didn’t pay that much to go the beach. I’m local and do that all over that place for free. Within 5 minutes there are several free beaches in the same lake Several quarry sites Not likely going again unless it’s with friends yo party for the weekend for free.

The facilities are pretty decent and the activities are pretty good but overall this place is way too busy. Not from a Covid standpoint but in general. There are way too many people on this resort for the amount of facilities there are and apparently they are building even more. Beach is decent but you will be on top of people and that is if you can get a spot by 10am. Beware of teenagers and golf carts everywhere. This is golf cart city. Have to keep an eye on small kids at all times. This is a haven for teenagers who think they are the coolest thing on earth because they drink and blare terrible music on there golf carts all day and night. Security is a joke in this place as well, it’s kids with badges. Beware of checkout time. We were just literally finishing packing our car to leave when a cleaning lady came by and was pretty rude and told us you were supposed to be out by 10. It was 10:20 and we were literally just sweeping the cottage to leave it as we found it, making her job easier and they charged us for leaving after checkout time. Not impressed, definitely won’t go back and won’t recommend to anyone either.
