This hotel is in a beautiful location. What a gorgeous view. Be prepared though as if you want to walk into Zipolite it is very easy to get to but it is a bit of a hike to come back. Make sure you have on some good walking shoes. Staff were lovely. Food was on the expensive side and we didn’t have coffee in our room so we went to staff to get a coffee and got one for free but where told we would have to pay for the second. Coffee is very inexpensive and I felt this should of been supplied. Our room was fantastic. It was right beside the pool and we have a beautiful view of the ocean while laying in bed. Love that there are only 18 units there for it is really quiet. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

Hotel is nice, private beach, pool, yoga/fitness space, rooms are huge and beautiful with A/C. I think there are one of the nicest hotel rooms in Zipolite. The bes is AMAZING, There is a basquet with sunscreen at the reception so you don’t have to bring your own.
Hotel staff is friendly and amazingly efficient
Flor at the front desk made my stay spectacular
Location is a bit far from the crowded areas so you can relax at the hotel or after a 10 minute hike you are where all the people is at the beach.

Stayed at Villa Aikia after a weeklong yoga retreat in nearby San Agustinillo. Was an excellent choice. Up on a mountain right next to the main Zipolite beach, it was a short walk up and down whenever I wanted to get to town or go to the beach. Most importantly, it was quiet at night without any noise or commotion. And, the resort is right on the ocean, so the sound of the waves was wonderful.

The staff were great, especially Max at reception, the team who worked in the restaurant, and the housekeeping staff. Was very happy with my room. Felt very secure the whole visit.

Definitely would recommend and stay there on my next trip!

I have no idea how this hotel gets high ratings from anyone. We visited during the busy season and paid well over $400 USD per night for what we thought would be a splurge at a luxury hotel. I’ve never felt so ripped off in my entire life. This place is rundown and dated in every way possible, and the lower half appears to be actually abandoned. I hardly know where to start; all the fixtures from the lights to the curtain rods and towel holders were falling off the walls, towels were thin and scratchy, only a literal trickle of water came out of the bathroom sink, failing plumbing and a constant sewage smell throughout the property from the exposed septic system, rusty haggard furniture, strange keys and locks that never worked correctly, shade structures that look like they were made 20 years ago out of pallets and scraps of cloth that they found on the beach, the list goes on and on and on. They also proudly informed us that the single bottle of water and two coffee pods in the room were complimentary and then we’d have to buy more; unbelievable that the most expensive hotel we’ve ever paid for wouldn’t provide a few bottles of water or an extra cup of make-in-the-room coffee! The level of cheapness was staggering. After one night we contacted other establishments hoping for last minute cancellations and ended up staying nearby at a very welcoming and truly luxury hotel for less than half the price. I hope this review keeps others from having a similar disappointing experience at Aikia.

The on-site restaurant was closed at 6pm, which was a very large inconvenience and a failure to provide promised services at booking. The staff simply stated that it was "low season." Clearly, we were not paying low season prices at $6,035 MXN per night.

The only restaurant alternative was across the street, as the town is a rather long walk down (and up) a steep darkened hill and there is no easy taxi option. Ironically, the restaurant across the street managed to stay open all evening during "low season."

I do not recommend this hotel for the price/value experience. There are much better options available at other resorts.

We visited in the off season in May, so only a few staying there when it's above 90 degrees every day. We loved it, as it's a beautiful property and location, just a quick walk from town & the main beach. Staff was wonderful, dinner (twice) was excellent.

Yes, clothing optional, but as it should be: no one treats you any differently whether wearing clothing or not, so just relax and let go. Same on the beach. as others have noted, most locals don't go naked, but no issues with anyone that does. Most beach bars & restaurants seems to be come as you are, no matter.

Room impeccably clean, as was the whole place. Drinks were ice cold. Vibe everywhere is low key. Seemed like time travel.

About covid: I'm as careful as you get... this is our first flying vacation in 2 1/2 yrs, and we do not go to restaurants or anything indoor where we might breath other people's air. It was 9 days of mask-free relaxation, as they are just not needed (at least in off season). So spread out, I never got close enough to others to feel endangered. 12-15 mph constant wind which makes it unlikely to be able to breath other's air. Restaurants don't just have outdoor seating, they are completely outdoors with all tables 8-10 ft apart. Wonderful time.

Swimming: not unless you are in a pool! The ocean is great, but really only for surfers, but very beautiful. If you miss (every) evening's sunset at Playa del Amor, you'd missed Zipolite indeed.

Cannot wait to return, it's definitely a bucket list place that's hard to let go.

We don’t need to add photos to this review. The hundreds already here testify to the fact this place has amazing views.

We found the walk to town very manageable. A ten minute exercise to downtown was fine. And put us far away from parties and drum circles. Nothing wrong with that, but not great when you want down time.

Lounging by the pool in the shade all day was the exact start to our vacation we needed. Nudity was common, respectful and everyone was an adult. We always had a towel or blanket to lay or sit on shared surfaces.

Food and drinks were amazing. Our server, Candela was prompt, made great drinks and was so lovely and kind. All the other servers were great too.

We hope to come back!

My friend and I stayed at Villa Aikia in November 2021. What a beautiful place! The design is well thought out, from the room, common spaces, yoga area and private little beach, all the details were perfect.

The ocean is very present with stunning views from all over the property. Interesting art fills every space. The views and sea breeze in the yoga area made it an ideal spot to start the morning. The small beach can be accessed by taking the stone steps that lead down from the property. The room was spacious, modern and clean, with comfortable beds and a big balcony.

The food was delicious and fresh, we had great breakfasts and lunches. The staff was friendly and Christina was very helpful with arranging taxi’s and our COVID tests, which were conveniently done at the property.

Zipolite is a short walk from the hotel. The easy access to town was convenient for exploring and going for dinner in the evenings.
