We must admit we were a little apprehensive due to some bad reviews we read from other guests on trip advisor, but we had the best experience ever . It´s an old place, with old world charm, so people expecting a perfectly shiny, minimalistic, recently renovated , hyper-posh locale are better off going somewhere else. It´s old in a warm,...

We had a night in Kinnity Castle 2 weeks ago and it was a lovely experience. The staff are very friendly and the place itself is what it says it is..a castle. The food was good and the rooms were nice. The only thing I would say is that the bed was old and not particularly comfortable but aside from...

This Castle is in need of a facelift, the room we stayed in was pretty clean but tired and old.. General housekeeping issues dust on canope of bed hairs on the bed and in the bed and generally everywhere also the public areas need a good clean and polish... Good food but served by staff that appeared less than happy...

This is the place to recharge the batteries. It is a historic castle hotel in its own grounds on the edge of the Slieve Bloom mountains. The setting is beautiful and the grounds allow for relaxing strolls. The hotel is very comfortable and welcoming. Food is amazing. Some of the rooms are tired but very clean. The food is perfect...

We stayed here in February. It was a huge disappointment from the start. Our room was a bit dingy and in need of a face lift and general upkeep, as were the public areas of the hotel. It really wasn't worth the money for the stay. The website was a world away from the reality. As a positive I can...

Had a lovely stay here, last November, being the dead of Winter added to the atmospheric gothic feel to the place. Being near the hills in a mostly overlooked part of Ireland, this added big time to the experience, almost Wuthering Draculas Castle Irish style. Staff all grand as was the food and the room. My only problem was that...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Kinnitty Castle, is close to the picturesque village of Kinnitty, Co. Offaly set beautifully against a backdrop of the Slieve Bloom Mountains. The Castle has a long and turbulent history. Dating originally from 1209, Kinnitty was destroyed and rebuilt not once but twice and yet it retains character and oozes charm. Kinnity is in a great location only 90 minutes from Dublin and is a great stop off point for journeys west or southwards. It is an exceptional place for lovers of good food and the great outdoors. ... more   less
