This is one of the Orient-Express properties and, as one might expect, the setting and the service are excellent. It’s well situated in “el centro” and a short walk to all of the most interesting historic sights, great restaurants and interesting galleries. The architecture is traditional colonial, but the rooms are spacious, light-filled and include all the modern day amenities...

Garden house several blocks from the center, sorrounded by public parks, no security at all. Small room, tiny bathroom sink inside the room), curtains not wide enough to cover the window, spots on the walls, mess of cable under the night table, the pressing board at your sight. Not a Conde de Nast 5 stars standard. Be carefull, this house...

Case de Sierra Nevada is an exquisite boutique hotel set in a cluster of beautifully restored haciendas. We stayed in Casa Limon (Hospicio #44), in suite #441. The bedroom has a large period bed, and the bathroom has Talavera tiles and a brass bathtub/double sink. Really pretty. The whole aesthetic experience, in fact, is lovely! The other part of the...

We take all our out of town guests here . We live about 90 mins away. This hotel expands through the small cobbled street with rooms tucked away where you least expect them. I have stayed in other top hotels in SMA but the Sierra Nevada just has a charm that the other ones do have . The staff are...

We had always heard about SMA. So we finally decided to make the journey. One of the best travel decisions we have made and to be fortunate enough to stay at this hotel was just a huge bonus. The staff is friendly and very accommodating. Gustavo (aka Our Butler ) made us feel as though we were at home. The...

This hotel is definitely NOT inexpensive- especially when you consider some of the inconveniences we experienced (such as our room being given away the first night and having to play musical rooms, and the room we ended up in for about $450-$500 per night was WITHOUT HOT WATER IN THE SHOWER!) So why would I give this place five stars?...

The service was great and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our room was spacious and the way the bathroom was separated gave privacy. We loved having a courtyard with a fountain. It extends the room and with the great weather you can probably use it year round. I wish it had been just a bit cooler so we...

You can't beat Orient Express. My family and i just spent 3 nights here and it was absolutely spectacular. We had 2 rooms or should I say suites, which were big and very comfortable. Traveling with four children is not always easy when it comes to accommodations but the hotel set up the kids room perfect. Breakfast was delicious and...

My wife and I stayed at Casa Sierra Nevada in San Miguel de Allende while attending the wedding of a good friend. The staff was very attentive and eager to grant any request. We had the good fortune of visiting during festival, which was very exciting and provided us an opportunity to see the city decorated and in a flurry...

Casa Sierra Nevada occupies several colonial houses, actually 4, Three that are almost across each other and one that is several blocks away. Each room is different from the other, some are better than others. Many are considered suites, and all are nicely furnished and decorated in a luxurious colonial traditional style and with many works of art. Many rooms...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Belmond Casa de Sierra Nevada is a mixture of 16th to 18th century Spanish colonial buildings, located one and one-half blocks from the cathedral and main city square of San Miguel de Allende. Its 37 rooms and suites are spread amongst six colonial mansions. Each casona, or mansion, which features five to seven guest rooms or suites, is unique. Many feature outdoor courtyards with fountains, small gardens and al fresco corridors. Guests do not have the feeling of being in a hotel at all. Rather, they are integrated into the town itself, making for a true cultural immersion. ... more   less
