Visited Mt Dare Hotel and bush camped over night. We were the only people given the time of the year. The owner/manager family were very hospitable and looked after us very well. Drinks are reasonably priced, even cheap if you compare the prices to other SA outback pubs. When you are in this part of the country, you are expected...

Mt Dare is a hotel in a big corrugated shed offering meals, alcohol and very basic grocery items. We enjoyed a tasty dinner- you need to get your order in early or you miss out, and had some drinks at the bar. The pub has a bit of that country pub feel, with stubby holders and caps strung up across...

After staying at Mt Dare on a number of occasions, this time I was going with a new group of travelling friends and had built this place up for us to all stay at and have a meal.. Well we couldn't get out of there quick enough.. Rude, disinterested and disappoining... The new owners there will need to change thier...

As we pulled into fuel up we received our first positive feel. Fuel was at a reasonable price of $2:05 which for the location was very fair. The lady who served us was also pleasant and helpful. The shop had a range of goods to assist the traveller. The items we looked at were good brands not cheap stuff being...

Incredibly dissappointed with the staff from Mount Dare Hotel, with the exception of the man on the petrol pump. Are clearly in business for the lucrative rescue and recovery services they provide, not for hospitality/tourism services. Unfriendly, disinterested, rude. Get fuel at Finke and continue straight to Dalhousie Springs, save yourself the let down.

Cannot thank the team at Mount Dare Hotel enough. After rolling our car 40km from the Hotel and hitching a ride in the team at Mount Dare Hotel stopped at nothing to ensure we were comfortable and helped us through the whole process to get our car back to Alice Springs. We spent 3 nights, facilities are great and the...

We called in here before going to Dalhousie Springs to cross the Simpson Desert. It was about 5.30pm on a very wet night. We purchased fuel (the man who served us at the tank was very friendly). I was going to buy some souvenirs inside, however I was very disappointed with the staff behind the bar. It wasn't a busy...

We broke down not far from Mt Dare and ended up staying for 2 days while we waited for our trailer to be recovered. The facilities are basic, however we were very well taken care of by the family there. They tried to help us in anyway that they could and helped get our trailer to Alice Springs so it...

We flew in and landed on the flash new airstrip - walked a few hundred metres and the owners and staff could not be more helpful. We camped in the campground with good amenities with some good shade trees. The 'pub' is unique - spacious, a great atmosphere, good food and cold beer! But the standout feature is the attitude...

We refuelled the Toyota Landcruiser 76 series , a pitt stop before crossing over the multitude of dunes in the Simpson, this a great stop for food, cold beer, a talk the owner and to buy a beer cooler. This outback pub is very unique and I am sure the most welcome stop for all travelers crossing the desert. We had a...
