We walked to the Masons Arms along the coast path from Beer. When we arrived we were pleased to see a roaring log fire to warm us up! I ordered the pork sausage & mash and my wife ordered the scampi. My meal was lovely with good quality local sausage and tasty onion gravey. My wife's meal was also very...

Lovely country pub with fantastic staff and food! From the moment we arrived we knew we were in for a treat, The lovely converted thatched cottage room with modern shower room was spotlessly clean. Provisions in the room consisted of slippers, sewing kit, soap, shoe polish, tea, coffee, biscuits, takeaway cups so we could make a hot drink for our...

My husband & I stayed here as our friends had already booked for a couple of nights & we wanted to meet up with them. The pub is lovely - roaring log fires, flagstone floor etc etc. We had an evening meal here, and the restaurant & food was good. The let down was our room (no 22) - it...

We stayed at the Mason's Arms for two nights in mid -January 2017. The room was a superior one overlooking the garden, and was large, warm and comfortable. The pub itself is cosy (it froze overnight outside) and we were happy to spend both evenings eating in the bar. The food was excellent, way above normal pub standard (more gastro...

This is where I stay each time I visit Branscombe. It's location is perfect. I can easily walk to the beach in one direction or visit the forge, bakery or post office in the other. The staff is friendly and helpful also.

Booked a Superior room for a couple of nights, the room was huge and freshly decorated. The only slight negative was the room opened onto the car park but despite being a weekend stay we were not bothered by any exccesive noise. The bar area is quite small and cosy, it gets very busy Friday/Saturday nights, food is very good...

Plus points: located on the SW Coastal path; dog-friendly; helpful staff. Minus points: No maps, brochures or info re SW Coastal path; awkward, uncomfortable bar area; poor choice of ales (Branscombe better than the ubiquitous and rather dull Tribute). Food, pub-average. Breakfast menu said cheeses and cured meats, of which there were none. Dinner menu said gnocchi, which turned out...

Thank you for passing on your observations on your recent visit, we are sorry the food offering was not to your liking and your comments have been passed on to our head chef. Really enjoyed our stay at The Masons Arms in Branscombe. Room was adequate. We had paid extra for a superior double room but it wasn't as nice as the rooms shown on the online booking form, which was a bit misleading. Still it was warm and pleasant with a really nice bathroom and lovely gardens and views. The breakfast was...

My dog and I stayed three nights over Christmas. Dogs are very welcome, with certain rooms reserved for those who wish to bring dogs with them; they are also welcome in the large Bar area, where all meals may be taken. The charge of £10 a night seems the norm, but excessive. While we were very happy with the room...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestling in the heart of Branscombe, one of Britain's most picturesque villages, is the award winning, 14th Century, The Masons Arms. This charming thatched Inn dates back to 1350 - a cider house turned country pub - and the men who cut the stone for Exeter Cathedral drank here, hence the name. With only a leisurely ten minute stroll to Branscombe Beach, The Masons Arms offers an ideal base to escape the stresses of modern life and enjoy the magical vista of sea, beaches and the spectacular walks offered by the ninety five miles of Devon and Dorset's Jurassic Coast. The authentic interiors ooze character with timber frames, low beamed ceilings, pine cladding, whitewashed walls and a huge roaring log fire. Our award winning Restaurant offers an exciting and creative menu in relaxed fine dining surroundings. The Masons Arms kitchen brigade are dedicated to sourcing the very best of local Dartmoor produce. The cooking is classy yet simple, perfect for a special meal or relaxing Country lunch. We serve as many as six locally brewed bitters and the finest wines from around the world. The 21 bedrooms at the Masons Arms Branscombe, are cosy, stylish and inviting, blending comfort with character. The Masons Arms has been awarded a FOUR STAR rating under the Inn category by Quality in Tourism. ... more   less
