We were given a spa day voucher as a wedding gift and all I can say is thank god we didn’t pay for it ourselves. The spa consists of a freezing cold swimming pool, a freezing cold jacuzzi, a steam room and a sauna. You don’t get the typical spa feel to it when you arrive, there’s no nice smells wafting around just cigarette smoke from the people standing outside the broken door smoking that doesn’t close. The changing rooms need updated really bad. No tag with a number on the keys so make sure you remember which is your locker. Pounding around the pool trying to relax was impossible because the whole area was just freezing and I had the nice pleasure of looking at a ceiling full of mould and water dripping on my head from the ceiling. Also, all the paint is peeling off from the ceiling over the swimming pool. The neck and back massage we had was 30 minutes late. We were left sat again in a freezing cold room with no explanation as to why they were running late. Wouldn’t go back there again. Went home feeling more stressed than relaxed.

I am delighted to have booked The Day Spa Experience including Gym facilities, Heated Indoor Pool with connected Jaquzzi, Mosaque Steam Salon and Modern Swedish Sauna. From my first booking I was very happy to be met by the Qulified Leisure Centre Manager and delightful staff at the Leisure Facilities at the hotel. After parking directly adjacent to the leisure centre the staff welcomed me to the facilities and made me feel as a valued client directing me to the changing rooms with keyboard lockers and making me feel perfectly at ease and fully welcome. The Day Spa facilties are in bright clean well maintained facilities and spacious pool with a large connecting Jaquzzi. I enjoy the boutique style steam room with mosaque surroundings and the modern 2 tierd wooden Swedish Sauna - with adjacent dual rain showers and uniquely the pool is surrounded by ergonomically comphy lounging beds. The staff are so helpful and ready to give a helping hand for any client concerns with courtesy and a welcoming smile is always welcome - so much so I have already booked 8 Day Spa sessions available throughout from 10.00 am until 4.pm. Additionally there is a beutiful coffee lounge and buffet bar providing afternoon teas with sparkles or a set menu treat during or after your spa experience. Enjoy 😉.

Bit disappointed this time, our first vist here was pre COVID, today was a mid January treat. Whilst the staff in the Spa were lovely, polite and helpful the Spa area itself was a bit shabby. Flaking paint coming off in the swimming pool area, the ladies changing areas desperately need repair/redecorating. The sauna room wasn’t working to start with and there were workmen around the pool area trying to fix it (outdoor boots in the pool area?). The outdoor hot tub wasn’t available with a ‘do not use sign’ on the door leading to it. The pool area wasn’t warm/comfortable either. Decided to go for a coffee and cake as advertised on the hotel website (see photo) to be informed ‘we don’t do cakes at all but you can have a coffee’. Our treatments were good, again done by a lovely member of the Spa staff.

I recently stayed here for the first time in around 6-7 years. I can say that is has gone down hill since then and I won’t be coming here again. The whole hotel is looking tired, the rooms aren’t very clean, breakfast has gone down hill - there’s no longer a breakfast menu where you choose freshly prepared food, you now just get to chose from what is left on offer at the breakfast buffet. I only had an evening meal here one night, that was disappointing - I’ve had better microwave meals. I can’t comment on the spa facilities because I didn’t use them but the rest of the hotel certainly needs some money spent on it.

Excellent service, friendly staff, clean spacious room. Relaxing spa, high standard treatment. We had a meal in the Normanton Inn- food was delicious. Really enjoyed our stay, we will return. Highly recommended.

I was invited to go with my bestie and God Daughter. We didn't know what to expect as its something neither of us had done before. The pool was lovely the bar and reception all lovely clean and cosy. The bedroom was almost perfect for what we wanted and all the staff were friendly. The double bed was very hard...but nothing that a soft topper wouldn't fix (hint). We were a little dissapointed that the steam room was out of order but appreciate that if its malfunctioned they have to put safety first so credit for that. But then we found out the hot tub isn't actually even installed yet. So we're a bit put out as that meant we only had the pool and bubbles and sauna. However then we had our evening meal....and oh boy did the chef pull one out the hat so to speak. Between us we had ham hock, parsnip soup. Steak and chips, haloumu burger and fresh salad. I'm not kidding. The food could not have been nicer. What a treat. We then had a cosy night's sleep. The room was fairly quiet but we couldn't get any tv channels on. No drama as we all had our phones.... The next day we got up early for a run. After which HELEN greeted us for breakfast. She was truly lovely. So kind and made us feel right at home chatting and looking after us all as if we were guests in hernown house. Then after a laze around the pool we treat ourselves to full body massage in the spa.....WOW. What an experience. It was the most relaxing hour of my life. The lady seemed to take every stress worry and tension and pull it out of me. I felt a years worth of strain melt away. When she did my friends massage she was also able to deliver a specially adapted massage that took into account the various medical contraindications and complex surgeries history that would ordinarily have prevented her having a massage. How lucky are we. She was such a lovely woman and really set us at ease. Such a treat. Then my god daughter had her nails done. The lady was so kind and made her feel right at ease as she helped her pick out a color and chatted with her. I'd definately recommend you go and give this place a try.

Made 2 bookings at this hotel the first booking was for a spa day in March and the second booking was for a double room overnight stay which was at a discounted price, only for the hotel to email me at 10pm in the evening and say they have to cancel my booking because it was to cheap and they had had a technical error. Not my fault. However they did offer me a discount room for the price of £72 Which didn't seem that much of a discount when a Web search revealed rooms for £60 So as the won't honour my original booking for the overnight stay. I have also cancelled the spa day booking. All in all they have not been very professional in dealing with my booking.
