I rode the Cabot trail and was pretty exhausted after climbing French mountain and hiked the Skyline trail, I decided to stay in Pleasant Bay and it seems like this is the only thing open. The room is clean but there is no microwave. The bed is very comfy. There is a restaurant which makes it very convenient for cyclists. I was about to order more food but the staff already gave me a cheque so I just paid. WiFi works.
Accommodation on the Cabot Trail is at a premium in the summer. In spite of booking 4 months in advance this property was one of very few that still had rooms available. The lay out id typical of a motel from the 1950’s and I suspect that there has been no renovation or upgrades since it was built. The bed was OK and the room was clean. There is a basic restaurant on site where we were able to get a bacon and eggs breakfast before setting off on the days adventure. This was an OK place to spend the night so that the drive over the Cabot Trail can be split into two days. This is basic accommodation. It is sort of interesting to be transported back to the 1950’s in a time warp as folks whom were children in that era will identify with childhood road trips and staying in similar places.…
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here while traveling around the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The people extraordinary! The food in the restaurant was delicious! Don't get me wrong, it is not a 5 star resort style vacation spot, but you are not paying those prices. Their price is very reasonable! You are guaranteed nice clean rooms etc. on your way through the Cape Breton Highlands and the Cabot Trail.
We enjoyed a one night stay in this facility as a little over half way point of the Cabot Trail. It is nestled between several mountains. There is no cell phone service. The WiFi is sketchy. Other than that, the room was clean, large, and well stocked. There is a restaurant on site. Staff were very pleasant.
Is this the best place you’ll ever stay in? No of course not. But the town is isolated with great views, the rooms are clean, staff are nice, and you won’t have any strong complaints except for maybe the size of the TV sets- yes that sounds stupid even as I write it. But taking everything in context, you should have a good night’s sleep and won’t forget the experience anytime soon.
