We stayed at Chapung Sebali for two nights. The place is truly amazing. The view, the decor, the comfort is unparalleled. Staff were also very helpful.

Even though the resort is almost in a forest, the way the rooms are designed, it keeps the bugs and geckos outside. This was a big deal for us.

The breakfast choice and format is very nice. Some basic items are provided in a buffet style while you choose the main items alacarte.

We ordered some Mexican food and Indian Barbecue for one dinner and that turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. Other than that I can't think of anything negative.

It was a memorable stay and I will certainly recommend the resort to anyone planning a holiday in Ubud.

Note that the resort is on a small hill. To access the pool you have to take a flight of stairs. This adds to the uniqueness of the landscape but it may create a problem for people with disabilities since there is no wheelchair access.

Exhausted after a long drive from our first hotel in Kuta, we were relieved to find that the check-in process was quick and smooth, and grateful to be greeted warmly by the staff and brought a cool and refreshing welcome drink, much needed in the hot weather.

After a short break in the lobby area, we were delivered to our villa --by the way, our villa was upgraded from a one bedroom villa to a two bedroom villa. (Thanks to Chapung!) The door to the villa is very unique, in the form of a traditional Javanese door (if not mistaken). Upon entering, we were surprised by the size of our villa, a private swimming pool which was big enough for just the two of us. (we did floating breakfast here, although it was quite difficult to eat at the pool hahaha). Even the living room, dining table and bar areas are very spacious. Can be used for private parties here. Ha ha ha

Entering our room, we feel modern impression. Starting from the spacious bedroom, walking closet and bath area with bathtub, everything is neatly and attractively arranged. The bed is very comfortable and there are 3 choices of pillows to choose from. Our room had Netflix available, which was a plus for a resort.

The food, this is what we like the most, all the cuisine at Jungle Fish is the best healthy food we have ever eaten. All meals are very tasty and attractive in terms of appearance. The portion is also big for Asian size (in our opinion). We were very satisfied with every meal we ordered. Thank you to the chef for satisfying our hunger.

The spa here is also relaxing, a quiet spa place, located right on the edge of a cliff overlooking the river, making the atmosphere more romantic and calming. During our spa, it was like being in a dreamland with a good massage making us relax after tired exploring the island of Bali.

Overall, staying here was the best thing we've done in Ubud so far. Friendly and warm service, amazing villas, delicious food plus the romantic atmosphere we got, everything was like heaven on (Ubud) earth.

Highly recommended and definitely will come back again.

Really love the vibes and views of this property. We spent a couple nights in the deluxe pool suite. The room is clean and spacious. We really love the artsy interior, especially the bathroom.

In room amenities are top notch, with B&O speakers and a Smart TV. They also have mini bar, fridge, and coffee & tea maker. Since we travelled during the pandemic, they also provide hygiene kit in the room.

Foods are good but not great. We opt for in-room breakfast and tried dinner in their restaurant Jungle Fish. They also provide additional floating breakfast which we didn't get to try.

We booked a spa session and it was great. It features an open air massage room. The therapists are friendly and gladly cater to our requests.

My husband and I stayed at the hotel over the weekend and are already planning to come back to this enchanting place again very soon. Our experience was super satisfying from the moment we arrived to our departure. The hotel staff went out of their way to make us feel pampered and satisfied. Fast and easy check in and we were escorted to our suit. The hotel grounds are well groomed which together with the stunning scenery of jungles creates a serene atmosphere of peace and harmony. Our room was beautifully funinured , had a mid century modern design with many superb and rich details of gorgeous wood, stone, and fine fabrics. We dined at the hotel restaurant and send our warm compliments to the chef! The food was delicious and artistically presented . The same goes to breakfast! It’s was one of the best foodie experience we had in a hotel!!!! Thank you very much! We highly recommend this hotel and are most certainly coming back for another weekend of spa and luxury retreat !!

My wife and I stayed at the resort recently and had a wonderful time. Couple of key points:
1. Book directly, they offer incentives scaling up based on the number of nights booked
2. The Pool room is very cool and nice to have right outside your bathroom to enjoy inside/outside if you’d like a private dip with an amazing view
3. The food is VERY GOOD, especially if you’d like to enjoy on your balcony and order room service or from any of the restaurants to your room.
4. They do a great job catering to the hotel guests even though outside guests can enjoy the pool and cabanas during the day.
You will not be disappointed about the service, hospitality, views, spa, food and relaxation!

We booked the 1 Bedroom Villa with Romantic package for 4 nights it was all worth it. The pictures and descriptions on the website are all correct and true. But the real thing is much more better! The staff are nice and cordial. Especially Mr. Dewa and Mr. Nick of guest relations they made us feel welcome and important. They gave a very good customer service experience.The food at Jungle Fish Restaurant are delicious and worth the price. As a whole we enjoyed our honeymoon and felt sad leaving the place so we will eventually book again.

Only (unfortunately) one night at this exceptional hotel for a really good (low) price during covid19 times.

We loved so the hotel style overall and the smart very present hotel branding. The restaurant with its stunning view into this little very green ubud valley is really special. The infinity pool is great and big. The hotel infrastructure is very well maintenained.

We also liked that the hotel is paying attention to environmental topics as serving drinks with metal straws or tooth brush made of wood (and not plastic).

The service of the staff is at a very high level both friendly and very efficient.

We liked the food in the restaurant for breakfast as also the case for dinner. Even so the dinner choice was very limited due to the covid19 situation. Speaking of the devil staff did really fully stick to covid19 safety protocol.

We really appreciate that Chapung Sebali kept their 5 stars service despite this difficult time.

We picked special package (via website) rate and a bit worried we'll get discounted service as we had bad experience with a Jakarta 5 stars luxury hotel.

We seek to be pampered and we got it at Chapung Sebali! We love the daily nutritious breakfast, friendly service, clean space, super comfy bed, and delicious food from Jungle Fish restaurant. Must order their fried pecking duck, passion fruit cocktail, and coffee creme brulee!
We also enjoyed the spa where we got truly pampered and relaxed.

The only cons was that we need to call the receptionist/housekeeping/room service to remind them if we haven't received their turn-down services and daily afternoon tea as promised. They are quick to sort it out though.

We'll definitely come back with our bigger family someday.

From the moment you arrive at Chapung Sebali you realise you’re in a special place. Greeted by genuinely welcoming smiles the check in process is quick and painless, which was perfect considering we have a 2 year old daughter.

Located 15 minutes outside Ubud it rests peacefully atop a tranquil jungle valley. The views are stunning. The design of the hotel is modern, yet somehow fits comfortably within its jungle surroundings. The swimming pool area is beautiful and the rooms are gorgeous with fantastic views of the valley. The rice paddies dotted around the property remind you exactly where you are, and the staff are very friendly and well trained.

As a chef I felt it I had to learn to cook some Balinese cuisine, so I took a cooking class with the executive chef Sheandy. I have to say I was very impressed with the quality of the food throughout the hotel and the quality of ingredients native to Bali. He’s a very talented man and so are his team.

Would definitely rebook this hotel if we were ever in the area again. Highly recommend.

Tried it the 1st time as weekend staycation (1 night only), the experience from check in until check out was very enjoyable and smooth. The staffs were very friendly and good hospitality, ensuring that everything was okay or was there anything else needed. During the breakfast also, the staff would ask if we would want more drinks etc.

With that 1st experience, came back again for 3 nights during the week of Christmas as I was doing online retreat and needed a calm and quite place. However this time it was very disappointing. The staffs were less friendly, as compared to the first visit, though the check in process was still smooth.

During breakfast time, the staffs were quite slow in taking orders, although there were not many guests, table set up was also very slow. Ordered the food to be sent to the room at 12pm, waited till 12.20pm, called the reception and being told that it was on the way. Punctuality is very important to me coz I was doing online retreat with proper schedule.

Tried the spa, both massage and facial. The massage was perfect pressure and I would say it's the best so far that I experienced in Bali during these three months. The facial was nothing special although they kept mentioning it' famous product from US.

Did an early check out, and it was also nothing special compared to the 1st time, staff was not that friendly, just really transactional mode.

The highlight from this 2nd stay was after I arrived in Sanur in the afternoon. After arriving at my next stay, took out the face mask, and found that all my faces got small bump and started to turn to red rash. It's not itchy yet, but it's the whole face!
Suspected that it may due to the facial treatment, and then moving from Ubud to the very hot Sanur, I contacted the chapung spa and asked (even sent them the picture of my face). Got very short replied "None of our customers have ever experienced such and complain after the facial treatment." Well, now you got one!

I have no intention to complain or write negative review. Guess with such good and well-known name attached to the hotel, a simple hospitality and sorry (for my condition) would do. And until the end of the conversation, there was no such good words to comfort the customer. It was really disappointing!

Will I comeback? I am not so sure.
Will I recommend to friends and families? Maybe, however they need to be careful and the hospitality is just so mix.

It's a quite, calm and serene place, the whole are is very beautiful also. Just need to do better on the service and hospitality. I experienced better for cheaper 5 stars hotel.

PS: As I wrote this review, my face still got bump and rash, and it starts to feel itchy sometimes. It's clearly due to the after facial treatment and then move to very hot weather. When I stay in the room with aircon, the condition feels better, but when I am out with mask and starts to have a bit sweat in my face, then it got very red now. I stop using any cosmetics and only wash my face using baby soap.

Dear Mrs Elyta, Greetings from Chapung Sebali. we thank you very much for choosing our Resort for the second time, and it was a great pleasure to talk to you on the phone directly earlier today. After reading your review I feel very sad that we have not met your expectations, and immediately went to investigate what exactly has happened. First of all, about the friendliness of our staff which you felt was not like your first time visit, this very much surprised me. Since we are one of the few Hotels in Ubud which never closed during the past 20 months and one of our main priorities has been the well being of our staff. I am a firm believer that if we ensure the happiness of our staff, this would radiate and translate into heartfelt service towards our guests . Despite our fantastic jungle views, building and facilities, staff are our main strength. However as human beings everyone may have a "not so perfect day" sometimes and I believe you have felt this with one of our members, during your second experience here. This is of course not an excuse, for the level and quality of service we strive for. About the slow taking of the order, I have briefed our management that this should not have happened. However, it would be great if you could let me know in more detail how we were too late for the room service and for which items, since I think that a time frame of 20 - 30 minutes for room service delivery is quite the standard , depending on the room service items of course also. This information would be of great help to improve our service flow. For the biggest issue that you have pointed out, which are the replies and explanation you have received for the allergic reaction because of the Facial treatment, I am very much relieved to hear from you that the allergic symptoms have considerably improved by today. I completely understand the disappointment you have felt. We have failed to properly investigate and to explain to you , nor have we apologized at least "for any inconvenience", and we have not asked you prior to the treatment if you have any particular sensitivity, that we should consider before start. This should not have happened and I have immediately called in a meeting with the manager and staff in charge to brief about this, in order for this issue not to repeat itself in the future. Accordingly, on behalf of all associates of Chapung Sebali, I would like to offer our deepest apologies for the above. I sincerely hope that you may forgive us, and give us another chance by staying again with us. We remain at your disposal and service.
