At Solaz, a Luxury Collection Resort, Los Cabos, many guests have lauded the hotel for its tranquil vibe and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere, with the clean, spacious, and well-designed rooms often receiving commendations. While some travelers have reported issues with room smells and noise, the praise for the hotel's meticulous cleanliness remains consistent. The personalized and attentive service, including butler availability, is frequently highlighted, although not without noting occasional service inconsistencies. The amenities, such as the multiple pools and dining options, are well-regarded, but some guests feel the prices, particularly at the spa and restaurants, are steep without corresponding value.

This is an amazing place. We are experienced timeshare owners and this is our most favourite resort. We look forward to going every year. We usually invite friends or family to share our experience. The two bedroom Presidential or the Three bedroom Imperial suites are spacious, luxurious and, offer all the amenities you need. We usually buy groceries (we recommend Fresko) and make breakfasts and lunches. The suites have both drip coffee maker and Nespresso machine. The Nespresso pods they supply is limited and so it is best if you buy pods before you get there. The kitchen utensils are more than adequate and the staff is really obliging if you need extra glasses (for example we wanted Champagne flutes and they supplied them right away). In this trip, we found that they did not stock shampoos and soaps everyday, but got it to us when we asked. The restaurants and bars are fabulous and they have specials several times every week. They are a bit expensive (drinks are about $11 per glass during non-happy hour). The resort is not crowded, which may put some people off who expect a lively atmosphere. I recommend highly visiting their museum and the spa. Every staff member was extremely responsive (we really liked Omar, the pool side manager). The pools are all heated. The pool bars tend to be a bit slow and we had to teach them how to make some drinks, but they were obliging. There is enough stuff for kids, including horse back riding and kiddie day care center, but the place is not specially meant for kids. Hacienda del Mar, a sister property, is more kid oriented. And if you are interested in ownership, we highly recommend talking to Juan Manuel (he goes by Fish). He is knowledgeable about local life (you have to be careful though because he is part Canadian).

I stayed at Solaz for five days following a trip with friends to Mexico. It was pure luxury from the rooms to the service and the F&B.The staff were exceptional and they went out of their way to ensure everything ran smoothly.

From our pickup at the airport to our departure all our needs were taken care of.

As we were on vacation we took majority of our meals poolside and enjoyed the bar and light and fresh cuisine. The rooms were stylish and very Baja inspired, with all amenities and as we had a villa's a plunge pool and native garden and balcony. Furnishings and fixtures inside the rooms were all high quality and also in tune with the environment.

Location of the hotel enabled us to have good access in and out of town and also to go to dinners are various other locations close by. The beach access is bliss!

Spent 5 great night at the Solaz and was really blown away by not only the beauty of the hotel itself but the level of care and dedication of the staff. I am a Marriott Bonvoy titanium elite member and stay in hotels at least 50 nights a year, so trust me I’ve seen the good and the bad and these guys really have their act together. From when you first arrive to the stunning view of the lobby the staff is so warm and welcoming. Yes, hospitality is known to be great in Mexican resorts, but this being my 8th time to Cabo and first at this resort, I’ve never experienced anything like it. We were immediately assigned a butler/ concierge (ours was Cesar) and then to the contactless check in. I stayed during the corona crisis and I thought the hotel did everything in their power to on one hand be extremely diligent on safety but also not being obtrusive about it. They were also mandated to only be at 40% occupancy during the pandemic and even though the resort is expansive you never felt crowded in any way. As an elite member we were upgraded to an amazing one bedroom ocean view suite with plunge pool in our backyard. The room itself was very thought out, tech oriented and we felt at home in it. The grounds of the hotel are immaculately kept and we spent a lot of time at the main infinity pool and beach.
We did swim in the ocean a bit, but depending on the day and time it can be challenging and would suggest that you be cautious of it. Again, all the staff at the pool was very attentive but not over bearing in any way. By day two they pretty much all remembered our names.
We were given free breakfast as our Bonvoy amenity and were very pleased by it.
One highlight of the trip was my son and I went fishing our first day and brought it back to the hotel to be prepared. We handed it off Cesar when we got back and he handled everything. They asked us a bunch of questions on what food we liked and how we wanted it to be prepared and if we had any allergies. I’m not just saying this because we caught the fish, but it may have been some of the best food I ever had. The Chef at Mako (where we ate it) was amazing. He personally came out multiple times to explain what he prepared and was genuinely concerned about our feedback. I was beyond impressed not only by the food but the quality of care and service. We had caught a few different types of fish and he served us 6 different varieties. I would highly suggest eating at Mako not only is the view beautiful being right off the sand but from wait staff to chef extremely professional and thoughtful.
Again want to say thank you to Cesar for handling every request we had from booking restaurant reservations, excursions, getting our car ready and asking us if we needed the room cleaned even when we forgot to turn the privacy button off. The communication being super easy all through text.
Highly recommend this hotel. Will definitely be my go to every time I’m back in Cabo.

Solaz is an architecturally significant property with acclaimed luxury status. The desert modern campus is gorgeous, with innovative interior and exterior features. Solaz is at the top of the Marriott list of brands, which leads one to expect exceptional, luxury-level service. While the staff are very courteous, there were several areas where our expectations were not met. For example, simple requests for water seemed challenging. During our 5 day stay with a group of 5 people, poolside water service was delayed upon every request, despite the fact that we were ordering several cocktails and food items each day. The hotel prefers to upsell bottled water even when tap is requested. One day our attendant asked if I was ready to sign out, and I said we were staying longer and would like to order drinks. He never reappeared or asked if we needed anything for the next 3 hours but finally brought the tab. Some pool attendants are more attentive than others, though- Caesar is awesome! Breakfast is by far the best meal. Overall we found the food quality outside of breakfast ok, but it does not measure up to the level of equivalent Ritz Carlton properties. Our room in the tower had a gorgeous ocean view but highway noise is a drawback to the tower rooms. Some friends stayed in the larger suites with plunge pools, which were very well appointed but had no real view. Glassware and a few other items were missing in the rooms but were quickly delivered upon request. Like a few other reviewers noted, there are a few hits and several misses. A property at this level and price point needs to have more hits. We’ve been to Cabo many times and will return, but not to Solaz.

Overall, a solid 4.5 star resort, very friendly staff, and is unique enough to visit at least once. This is also a hotel that seems to appeal mostly to families and couples, although anyone would feel comfortable here.

Maybe the best part is there are plenty of pool and ocean front loungers for everyone. No need to wake up early to reserve a spot - facility is designed to never make it feel crowded, a big plus.

Guests BEWARE: The museum is nice, but it turns out this is really used as a sales pitch for the vacation timeshares, i.e., do not accept the museum tour. Unfortunately this cheapen the experience of this otherwise classy resort and I would advise Marriott management to cut out the amateur sales process.

Really nice grounds - desert/native plants vs. palm trees planted at other resorts.
Breakfast buffet was decent, not world class, but good mix of Mexican and U.S. style foods.

Rooms are very nice, plunge pool was not always warm, but very nice when it was.

Management: please consider finding a way to recycle plastic water bottles, or provide guests with reusable bottles.

I’m Marriott Bonvoy Ambassador member, and have been this level for the last 6 years. To say this hotel os top notch is an understatement (I have stayed at plenty top notch hotels) but they just stand out in a class of their own.

The service is superb, the team is extremely friendly, knowledgeable and always goes the extra mile.

The food in the restaurants while on the very expensive side for Mexican standards - is excellent.

The rooms are always impeccably cleaned every day (meaning not a grain of sand in the room). The bed is incredibly comfortable and makes me sleep like a baby every night.

One amazing feature of the hotel is the ‘personal artisan’. Think of the St. Regis butler service but taken to the next level. Our artisan was Eduardo. I would hire this guy to be my executive assistant any day. He is thoughtful, proactive and anticipates every need. A few examples: I wanted a restaurant that was unavailable, so he arranged reservations in two other places to ensure I would have something love. I extended my stay and he arranged extending my rental car as well without even me asking. He is looking after me 24/7 even when he is not working. He literally solves each and every need I have.

Outside of Eduardo, everyone else at this hotel is as helpful as he is. It doesn’t matter who they are they try to quickly help you out regardless of what is their normal function.

The team at Mako is also amazing. We loved David, Mateo and Cristian’s personal service.

We are loving every second here, don’t want to leave and look forward to a future stay at this amazing property.

While this is a very new and modern hotel, the emphasis appears to have been placed on the appearance of everything over function. The most dramatic example of this is in regards to the bathroom, or in the case of this hotel, the absence of a bathroom. While there is a shower and a toilet, both are located in the area of the room that seems a little like a kitchen, and the only thing separating the shower and the toilet from that “kitchen” are the glass shower and glass toilet room doors. This may be fine for a couple, but this could be a real problem for a family, especially if there were any teens along.

Other examples of valuing appearance over function are the balcony hammock that is strung wall to wall directly over the chairs, or the unusable pool between the beach restaurant and the beach.

For the price, the rooms here seem small. The road access to this hotel is also horrible! I had to go back and forth down the highway a couple of times in order to figure out how to even enter this hotel - the route is somewhat counterintuitive and GPS won’t help much.

The other issue is that upon arrival, it isn’t as simple as just checking in and going to your room. Instead, they want to take you to their “museum” which is really a way for them to try to get you to sign up for a timeshare presentation. At a hotel of this price, there should be no mention of timeshare presentations unless specifically requested by the guest - that just makes the hotel seem greedy and cheap.

This is a beautiful hotel in a modern way, but really seems like a place to view and not so great to stay at.

I spent four nights at the Solaz Resort in October/November 2020 and can honestly say it was the nicest Marriott property I have visited. From the moment we arrived on the property, the Solaz team went out of their way to ensure that our visit was the best possible. Our personal concierge, Ignacio, got us checked in and served as our go to for all spa, restaurant, and activity reservations for the duration of our trip. We communicated primarily through Whatsapp and he checked in daily to make sure that we were having the best vacation possible. Most of the staff learned our names and by the second day were greeting us wherever we went.

We had a room with a plunge pool, which was incredible, but it is worth calling out that I honestly would have been just as content with a room without one, as the multiple pools on the property are amazing and where I spent most of my time. Definitely a cool feature though if you do want a pool right outside your room.. The rooms themselves were large, modern, and clean. The outdoor shower was another great feature!

All of the restaurants on the property were delicious and reasonably priced (at least compared to other resorts I have been to). I would highly recommend La Deriva (the Italian restaurant on the property) with a table outside near the ocean - it was a full moon when we were there and it made for an amazing setting. I would also recommend Al Pairo (the Mexican fusion restaurant on the property) - it was the best meal and service we had while at the resort.

In terms of transportation, it took about 30 minutes to/from the airport (we used an outside transportation service that charged us $120 round trip). We also used Ubers to get around and it cost about $10 to get to/from either Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo from the Solaz.

I would recommend the Solaz to anyone looking for a relaxing resort in Cabo and will definitely be back!

For those of you who are looking for a new Lux resort in Los Cabos, I can wholeheartedly recommend Solaz. We stayed on the hotel side, there is also a timeshare side, but there was absolutely no soliciting by the timeshare people of the hotel guests. This is not an all-inclusive property that lends itself to higher quality, especially in the food department. Everything we had was excellent and very high quality, as you would expect at this price point. The lobster tacos at one of the pool/beachside restaurants was a standout, but really everything was delicious. The breakfast is a buffet, it is on the smaller side, but it is well appointed. Breakfast for two every day was included in our room price, and it seemed like that was the case for everyone, but I believe it had to be at the buffet not room service. We statyed in a one bedroom suite with a plunge pool that runs the length of the suite, with the ocean view behind it. You sacrifice some of your view by being low down, as all of these rooms are at ground level, but you get two patio areas, one infront one in back, both very private. The room was beauiful and looked exactly like the pictures on the website, as everything is still basically brand new. The grounds are well designed and very well maintained. The property is just about the middle between San Jose and Cabo San Lucas. Just a fantastic place. Disfruta.

The tranquility of this property comes from its location and minimalist architecture. We visited during what clearly is a downturn for tourism in Cabo . The advantage being , there weren’t too many people about . The hotel itself is small , as most of the property is comprised of time share apartments. The public areas are spread out and vast . We never felt like we were in a crowded space . All the staff were helpful , kind and well intentioned. Plenty of food options on property , all of which were excellent. Access to the sandy beach is made easy from the pool area . This is a tranquil hotel to enjoy , unwind and not do much . Having said that , it is expensive, but well worth the visit if you can afford it . We will be back .
