This hotel has a very laid back vibe and a lovely collection of quirky outdoor statues made of found materials welded together The Krakovia Cafe out front is owned and operated by the Adamski boys, sons of the owners and is a good quality cafe/restaurant with a full dinner menu and a college atmosphere given the University clientele

We organized a seminar at Hotel Ave del Paraiso and the guests stayed at the hotel, the food at Café Krakovia was excellent, the service of the staff very warm, the rooms were very quaint and nice. An option I will definitely have in mind. Of course, the location is simply perfect too.

On the recommendation of a family friend, my family chose to try out this hotel while we were in the San Jose area of Costa Rica. This is not a chain hotel, instead it is a family hotel and landmark with authentic architecture, fun sculptures created by one of the owner's son and a friendly and quite helpful hotel staff....

I've stayed at Hotel Ave del Paraiso at the beginning of my trip, at the end of November and it was really a pleasure to stay few days in this hotel in the middle of San Jose. I feared a little bit the big city but if you're traveling alone (with friends or family too of course!) this is the...

This is a really pretty property, just steps away from the UCR campus. It has several different buildings, including some private cabañas (we stayed in one), and lovely gardens. Our room included a reasonably comfortable bed, ceiling fan, fridge and tv. Bathroom was small and water not quite hot enough, but fine. There is nice outdoor seating around the hotel...

The Ave del Paraiso gives a flavour of Costa Rica in an area where the choice is limited. The garden, terraces and superior rooms are all great assets. The staff is friendly. On the downside: the traffic noise from the nearby road, and breakfast is a bit scanty. The first night water supply in the room was interrupted but this...

Staff is very nice and helpful but hotel... not so great. We had to stay for few days. For the price you are getting very small room with no aircondition, which is a big suprise, considering it's very hot there. No aircondition but fan in the room, so you can surivive. Bathrooms are not really well mantained. Generally saying hotel...

Hotel Ave del Paraiso is next door to the University of San Jose with easy access to the downtown and surrounding area. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and while we were there during a "slow time" of the year, staff were happy to provide us with a free traditional Costa Rica breakfast.

I have stayed several times at this hotel both on business and pleasure trips and keep going back chiefly because of the great, friendly treatment that I have received from the staff. Rooms are clean and no matter what time of day or night staff has always been extremely friendly, helpful and trustworthy. I would not hesitate in recommending it...

This hotel is located on Campus, or very near UCR. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had a deluxe room for one night. The room was clean and everything worked well. Good WiFi service. The experience is what I expected. My girlfriend and I had a great time here. The property has a small sculpture garden and attached...

“Ask for rooms away from the university side. Occasionally there are activities at the university campus that can be noisy (like a music festival or a party).”

“The wifi is iffy. Strongly recommend the superior room which was $88 a night plus tax. Rooms farther back are probably quieter. Street noise usually bothers me, but it was not an issue in our room. I slept better than at home.”
