The hotel is in a good location, in the center of the town. It took some time to find the hotel though because it was within a shopping hall. The room is clean with a pretty tiny bathroom. Staff there are nice and helpful. Overall, it was not a bad choice for the price.

I recently stayed at Hotel La Alhondiga and although there may be more confortable hotels in Puebla, and certainly ones that are more expensive it would be very difficult indeed to find a management and staff as exemplary. The location is wonderful in the centre of the historic part of the city - the zocolo. The building itself is an...

The problem often with staying at downtown locations is to find a hotel that is a good combination of value, security, cleanliness and quiet, and Puebla was no exception. After looking at a half dozen hotels that were to noisy, pricey or unattractive, we discovered Hotel La Alhondiga. It is a little difficult to find, as it does not have...

We stayed here on the weekend of Cinco de Mayo. The city was filled with Mexican travelers, the President of Mexico and many VIPS, and hundreds of police and military toting automatic weapons. The city was alive with celebratory noise until late each evening. This hotel is located on the Zocalo (main square and park in the historic center). The...

The hotel is accessed off a three-story glass covered walkway or gallery (think Paris or Rome). It has been very recently remodeled and the rooms, while plain, are comfortable--although we had neither a closet nor a wardrobe. It is convenient as you walk out of the gallery onto the main square of Puebla. It's unique in that the rooms are...

Liked the Service After spending hours looking for a hotel, we booked La Alhondiga through some fluke in their expedia system and they ended up overbooked. Still, compared to a lot of the hotels we called and/or visited, the people were very helpful and managed to work the situation out, though we had to change rooms after the first night...

La Alhondiga is now an elegant hotel that is considered one of the oldest buildings in the city built in the colonial Puebla. Historical data relating to the Alhondiga of Puebla was founded by order of Viceroy Payo Enríquez de Rivera, in 1676, for sale of maize, although carbon-14 tests applied to show some pillars that have a similar age to Cathedral, so that building dating from the year 1626. In a modern style Hotel La Alhondiga offers 50 rooms totally renovated with the latest standards of comfort. The hotel has facilities for special events like weddings, social gatherings, business services or business meeting. Restaurant La Alhondiga open for breakfast and lunch from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious and traditional Mexican food in a friendly and welcome atmosphere because they offer a variety of dishes typical of different regions of the country where you can pick your favourite. “If you value your sleep, don't stay at this hotel. If you don't care about noise and can sleep through anything, even a freight train, then definitely stay here.”
  • Bathroom - small, but serves its purpose
  • Door to bathroom. Not elderly or handicap friendly.
  • Standard size bed room. Very gloomy, small, and noisy.
