We arrived after a long journey from the UK to be allocated the wrong room category we paid for sea view and was given full pool view this was sorted out straight away by reception, we had to sign paper work at reception to say if we lost the braclett to enter our room we would have to pay 150usd which I did not agree with. Our room had a stunning view of the ocean, the room was lovely and clean. Pool towels are plentiful. The beach was fabulous and we sat on the beach most days sandals end, where it was very peaceful and chilled, the beach bar behind us did close early some days which was a shame however the pool bar is minutes away. The pool bar did run out of ingredients and drinking straws, so we would go to the lounge bar for our straws and drinks. The pool bar does need more staff at busy times. However, staff were always polite . The food truck and all the staff who work there are fabulous, especially the man in white who look after the buffet there. We did enjoy the breakfast at the buffet, we also enjoyed lunch at the buffet and to me there was plenty of choice. The staff always re filled our wine and water without us having to ask shout out to paulette and Christine and the beautiful server with the blond hair they were
amazing and always called me by my first name and always came over to say hello to us. The steak house was great with fantastic steaks and attentive staff. However, if a large group were in there, we would go elsewhere due to maybe a long wait. The buffet in the evenings was relaxing a good choice of food and staff attentive. The Italian restaurant was very good with a fabulous menu. The vibe team with ajarnie and timofle and keshaun were a joy always talking to all the guests, making us smile and dancing around us and asking how we were and how our day had been. I would like to see a carribean theme in the evenings rather than the DJ sets which were most of the time we travelled to Antigua to a party hotel so let's party carribean style. The bands in the evenings were great. We really did enjoy ourselves at this hotel, and we left the hotel chilled relaxed and happy, the taxi service from the hotel was great, the airport is 15 minutes from the hotel. Late afternoons the large groups surround the pool dancing and having a great time with the vibe team if you find it too loud at this time there is a huge quiet pool in the hotel which we had for ourselves most of the time, it was a fabulous vacation 😀

I thought that this is resort was beautiful on a beautiful beach, but the service made this resort one of my least favorite resorts I’ve stayed at. 2 nights in a row my family received raw steak, and waited a very long time to receive our food. Our fridges in our room were not stalked unless we asked, and room cleaning seemed to be very unreliable. Me and my family also had a couple of bad experience with the swim up bar bartender. He made very rude comments to multiple people in my family, and even yelled at me in front of other guests, and ultimately made my family choose to never stay at a Royalton resort again. Beautiful country with beautiful beaches, but definitely would recommend staying at a different resort, and will never be returning to a Royalton again. Will be back to Antigua though!!

Royalton Chic Antigua has won me over! I saw the bad reviews but showed up to see for myself.
Pros: The resort is beautiful with amazing views. Only the Diamond Club rooms are a new build. The other room categories are all renovated rooms, but the renovation is top notch. The pristine beach is absolutely gorgeous with pure white sand, and crystal clear shallow warm water. The resort has four swimming pools and the main pool has great parties, music and a cool swim up bar.
The food at the restaurants is pretty good but the Haven Grill is delicious if you like Caribbean cuisine. There is also a cute & cozy coffee shop with ice cream and sweet treats and a small sports bar which serves as the late night club. There were four bars and the service was very good for the amount of people at the resort. The overall service at the resort was very good and everyone is friendly and happy.
One employee that stood out was Keithroy, he was engaged with the guests, made recommendations, taught us how to dance and provided updates for the resort, shows and entertainment daily.
Cons: The Haven Grill is only open for lunch and dinner one night only. Pescari is the restaurant over the water and it is free for Diamond Club members and everyone else has to pay to eat there. This policy is ridiculous and needs to be changed. This is not a common practice at any other Royalton resort. DC already has a private pool, bar, beach and butler service. That should be enough.
The resort never has enough small washcloths. They only left them in the room once in 6 days. They never change the sheets, you must ask or request sheets.
All in all it is a great resort and I will return again.

Booked our first trip with Royalton Chic Diamond Club and it fell well below expectations. Started off with arriving at the hotel and it taking 1 hour to get checked in. Finally receiving our room key, our butler took us to our room, set our luggage inside and left without any explanation of the resort, the places where we could find dinner that evening etc. It took them 3 days to get bathroom supplies like shampoo,conditioner etc to the room. Every day after room service was there they would remove our soiled towels and never leave new ones. We always needed to call and request with some showing up pas late as 10:30 pm at night or not at all!! The service at the restaurants was fair from good and the food at most restaurants was never warm. At the pool area, they would always run out of towels and trying to get service pool side was almost impossible. The bars would run out of glasses everyday and we witnessed the bartenders rinsing used glasses out with water and pouring new drinks for new customers into them!! Nightly turn down in our room only happened 2 of the 7 nights that we were there. A lot of ther A-la-carte restaurants were closed a few times throughout our stay and it was very tough getting a reservation. We even had a reservation cancelled one evening as they closed the Resturant. The evening entertainment was not at all like advertised!! Although the performers did their best, it fell well below the expectations they had set out on the website - as well- they never once started on time!. I would not recommend this resort to anyone and will never go back until they address the people issues and other issues that is holding this resort back.

After this experience I will not be traveling to or recommending a Royalton Luxury Resort to anyone.
My wife and I just stayed at the Royalton Chic in Antigua for 5 days/4 nights and our experience was less than stellar. Service at the resort was horrible, which appeared to stem from a management issue not the fault of the employees. The employees were clearly not trained at all or very little at most, and this was the case at every restaurant and bar throughout the resort. We experienced long wait times even if just a handful of people were being served. For example, on day 1 we went to the sports bar (the only location open for food from 5-6) we arrived at 5:15 and there were 3 other guests inside. The wait staff and bartender arrived after us and began setting things up... why they were not already working and set up to go at 5 was surprising. When we were finally asked to order they told us they were out of half the items on the menu, and it took an hour to get the 2 burgers that we did order. Drink/cocktail wise they had no menu so we were asked just to make up something. I asked for a Bahama Momma (a common tropical drink) and we were told they did not have the ingredients for it and to try something else. Another person at our table asked for a beer (of any kind) and it took multiple requests to the waitress and bartender for him to get it after 20 mins...again there were only 5 people in the restaurant.
Another day my wife ordered a Mojito (a common drink) at the main pool bar as we were told not to even look at the drink menu because they were out of ingredients to make the majority of things on it. I waited for the mojito while she went to the food truck for a burger and fries. After 30mins of waiting for the Mojito they came to tell me they did not have the ingredients to make it and to get something else. So we asked for a Mai Thai after 30 more mins (1 hour total) she finally got her burger (which she was reluctant to eat due to the questionable food handling) and came back to meet me still waiting for the Mai Thai which they finally handed me after an hour and unfortunately it tasted so bad neither of us drank it.
This was a common occurrence throughout our stay, on the rare occasions when we did get food quickly it was usually cold or unappetizing. The buffets although quick access usually did not have many good tasting options and food containers were often left empty as kitchen staff were unattentive. At arrival we were told to check the room TV for information on room/resort functions/activities but none of the information videos worked. There was also no place to hang/sit washcloths or soap in the shower, but I guess we didn’t need it much as we ran out of washcloths during our stay and it took 3 days to get more after asking both housekeeping and the front desk multiple times. A positive is that the resort was clean and the beach and pool were nice (although the resort is renovated and not brand new as made to believe on their website). Other positives were the gym was modern and had great equipment, and the service in the coffee shop was by far the best at the resort and seems to be the only place running efficiently.

WORST HOTEL STAY. Bad management, poor reception from Front Office & many times from Room Service which either put us on hold & never got back to us or sent our orders incomplete add to this our experience at Olympus Restaurant where we waited 2 hours for possibly the most tasteless meal ever. We waited almost 6 hours on our check in day before we got a room for our 99 year old Mother. FO said they never got the communication that we needed a room at the ground floor but we traveled with our Travel Consultant who had all the emails relaying the request for 2 rooms with wheelchair access. We were told at 2:30PM that the room was being cleaned and every time we inquired for more than 5 hours the room was still being cleaned. We got our Mother settled in our room at 8PM already. There is no acceptable explanation for this inconvenience. The hotel is not worth the trip or your money. Food is sub stan standard, many dishes were dirty, as well as drawers and desks in the room (I have videos of foil and food in the drawers in the room they "cleaned" for 5 hours). The only positive note to our one week stay was the warmth of the staff - Halima who opened Excite Bar so we would have an air conditioned place to stay while we waited for our room and who spoke to the kitchen staff to whip us up a meal, Natasha and Deanna who took care of us every time we were at Haven Grill and many others who extended what service they could in their own area specially in terms of assisting us with our Mom, our luggage, pool side service, at Vespa and Haven Grill - Zamora, Jefflyn, Rand, Britannia, Jenin, Dwight, Rachel, Coco, Katy Ann, Amoy, our housekeeping girls whom we specially requested for Avet & Kim, Denesha, Britanny and so many more. They are the only good memory we have of Royalton Chic Antigua and of the Caribbean.

This facility has complete potential but it is poor because of the service. It’s horrible! No smiles, no communication, no assistance. We literally had a hand full of people that helped and one was a manager. This resort was expensive too! Not worth it.
I would NOT return bc the service was so poor and the staff seem not interested in you or having a nice time. (We are even tippers and I’m coming home with my tip money).
The facility is great, food very good, entertainment at night excellent.
ROON basic but ok (they need to do better at cleaning. Fan needs to be dusted and mold in shower; flat pillows too). Although the fire detector flashes like a strobe light every few seconds. Didn’t sleep well bc of it.
Day time activities were lacking except for the foam party. Foam party was great… they had dancers out and the employees danced as well (they are great dancers).
They ran out of coconut rum and the coffee shop never had decaf (always out)
This was a very expensive trip and not worth my money. I would NOT return. There are so many other islands where the workers are grateful.

As I just booked two more all inclusive vacations, I told my travel agent that we would never be staying at another Royalton again. It also reminded me that I never wrote a review from last year and I'm hoping that the service has changed since then and other guests have had a better experience than me. I went with my husband, sister, and brother-in-law and we have never experienced worse customer service than we have here. We have been going to all-inclusives for about 20 years now and have a good understanding of services/amenities. When my husband called down to guest services one day, they actually hung up on him and then went he went downstairs to ask what happened, they pretended that he never called there and played dumb. The last night we were there for dinner, a waitress in the Italian restaurant accidentally spilled an entire plate of oil on my brand new satin dress completely staining the bottom half of it. I went down to Guest Services where it took over an hour to resolve the issue and I put in a reimbursement form to my credit card so when I got home, I could get my dress dry cleaned. When I went to check out the next morning, they didn't have the paper I filled out and I had to fill out another one leaving my credit card information again. Needless to say, both Tracy and Selina from Guest Services did not hold up their end of their promise and I never saw that money to my card to clean my dress. It was wasted time and energy and I wasn't thrilled that my credit card was taken each time and then nothing done with it. There was also no beach service for drinks or food like advertised on the website, and half the time at the pool bar, they ran out of liquors and only one Bartender who was completely overwhelmed and upset. Meanwhile, at the beach bar, it was fully stocked, no Bartender, and they wouldn't take liquors from there for the Pool bar to replensih. It was mind boggling that every time we needed a drink during the day, we had to go all the way back inside and get it ourselves. The only reason I'm giving any points is that the food actually was delicious, and the beach itself was gorgeous. The staff at the restaurants were decent and the staff at the Sports Bar were actually very friendly which is where we spent most of our time after dinner. I definitely would not go back there for their guest services alone. They have a lot to work on and I think there are much better resorts out there that I've experienced that I would go back to than a Royalton property.

The hotel beach is the best feature with beautiful blue sea, clean beaches with lots of bwach chairs with umbrellas. The food is decent however they tend to run out of some food listed on the menu daily. Ordered room service and there was a hair in one of the order. No night turn down service unless you are a diamond member. Had to call for room to be cleaned daily as cleaning person did not show up daily before 1pm. The person who cleaned the room placed a half filled used toilet roll in the bathroom instead of a new roll, had to call the front desk for a new roll of tissue. The specialty restaurants are first come first serve unless you are a diamond member then you are allowed to make a reservation, for non diamond members, if you are not there early the restaurants that are open are often full or not open.The price paid at booking is only for the room and board the hotel charges an additional $541.80 per day for two people for all inclusive meal which you become aware of at check out, usually you pay one price at booking for all inclusive. Spa: Had a deep tissue massage: I usually like alot of pressure, was not alot of pressure even though requested, I would describe it as a massage between Swedish and deep tissue, deep tissue was for 80 mins for $195. Please listen to the negative reviews. We wish we had. This is country #60 visited. We have lived in 5 countries. All this to say, we have travelled. 5 star, 1 star and everything in between. We are Bonvoy loyal and so we really tried to read between the lines of all of the polarizing reviews. Oh how wished the copious amounts of bad reviews convinced us to book somewhere else.
We booked Diamond Club, hoping that some of the issues people had with the resort would not happen at that level. Wrong. Absolute radio silence when trying to book transport from the airport to the resort (which is mentioned on their website), we hauled our own bags to our room (not an issue, but not what we paid for), no soap in the room (called right away, still don’t have soap). Dinner at Pecari (had to make the reservation in our own because our butler Chris was no where to be found). Could only get an early reservation at 6:15 and at close to 8pm still don’t have our food). Went to the concierge to ask about future restaurant reservations and we were told that we needed to do them through our butler). It’s now day 2 at 3:30pm and finally got confirmation of dinner for tonight. But it took hours of nudging to get it. My husband asked for a taxi to be booked to go kite surfing this morning….they neglected to do so and he was late.
Look, the beach is nice, the room is nice, the DC pool is nice. But this isn’t 5, 4 or 3 stars. So just go in eyes wide open. It’s a very expensive price tag for below mediocre service. There is a lot of apologizing but no actions to make up for the lack of service.
We’ve just been assigned new butlers. So let’s see how that plays out. I can’t say we are super hopeful

Oh and the pool closes early - around 5:30 ish. Room service is free and you’ll need it since restaurant reservations are frequently messed up based on my experience and other reviews.
There are more places to choose from in the Cedar Grove area.
