Very bad hospitality, the staff was never attentive to what we needed. The room did not have hand soap despite calling the reception to ask for it, they never brought it.
The hotel is very far from the center of Holbox and the hotel does not offer anything that you might need from the store or pharmacy, so for this you will have to spend an extra $600MXN every time you want to go to the center for something you need.
Despite having 2 restaurants, only one was open, so we ordered the lobster pizza for $690 and it was actually disappointing that it was a frozen pizza base, which leaves us wondering how much of the rest of the menu is really fresh.
I would not return nor recommend it. There are many other cheaper and equally beautiful options closer to everything where it does not involve unnecessary extra expenses, plus when we checked out they informed us that apart from everything we have to pay a "Resort Fee" and another extra tax that the government They charge the hotels which I think should be either included in the room price or specified from the moment of making the reservation, not as part of the Check Out.

Honestly we wouldn’t return to this hotel because it’s too far out for a short stay, it’s a 35 min beach walk or 10 mins taxi 🚕 golf cart to “town” but if you were on honeymoon or wanted absolute relaxation away from the Holbox crowds this is a great spot. How come I’m giving it 5 stars if I wouldn’t go back? First and foremost because Mario the manager was incredible. We arrived before check in so went to lunch in the pool bar. There was a private party on and we worried we had chosen the wrong hotel as it was loud and a lot of people, he came over and explained it was a booking and a one off. Phew. He shook our hands and interdicted himself. He noticed one of our meals came out when the other had been finished (I think someone forgot it in the chaos) so he apologized and brought over a complimentary drink. Impressed already. Then, later, he invited us to a full moon beach bbq and personally greeted us there. It was very nice indeed. Now to the room - we had the “cozy” for 5 nights. One of the best hotel rooms ever. So fresh and clean. Such an incredible design. Huge bed, luxe linens and towels. Lovely balcony and another sea view window. Sunsets to die for. Private beach, good food. Friendly staff. Ways to improve - give a glass of cava on arrival instead of the green juice, have one small torch and bug spray in the room. Put the menus for all the bars and restaurants and any resort extras in the room as they aren’t fully loaded on the app yet. This would encourage us to eat in more. Buy your own golf carts and do packages. Have a little info pack on what to do around here such as how to get to the bioluminescence alone, what to find in each direction when leaving the hotel and so on. This hotel has amazing potential and with Mario at the helm it will only thrive! Thank you

We had a very mixed experience at the Náay Hotel.
The facilities there are lovely, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The pool is great with plenty of cabanas and lounges surrounding it. Being on the beach it is possible to walk into town via the beach which was a massive bonus when the streets were flooded.
Unfortunately the service and food left a lot to be desired. The female receptionist couldn’t have been less helpful if she tried and we caught her outright fibbing to us on more than one occasion to avoid doing things. When asked if she could recommend a spa, as it turns out the website is incorrect in listing there being any spa services, she told us just to walk
along the beach and find one (it was well over 30 degrees out and the last thing anyone would want was a beachside massage!) The food at the restaurant was fairly mediocre. And all bar one morning we were told there was no juice available for breakfast, despite them having all the makings for cocktails (that contained fruit juices).
Overall we would probably recommend staying closer to the town if possible so as to have access to more dining options, and hopefully get better service.

I write this review from outside the hotel as with the intermittent wifi they provide it was impossible for me.
My opinion of this hotel is that it has everything to be an excellent place but they do everything halfway, leaving a bad feeling in the customers.
Where do I start? Upon arrival we were charged taxes that we were not previously notified. While it was little money, it gave us a sense of mistrust.
On the other hand, although the beach is very beautiful and they have many beds, they have a closed bar that could be super useful and you are forced to walk to the restaurant of the hotel if you want to consume something.
The shower pressure is very poor, it was very uncomfortable to bathe and although we notified the hotel people they could not do anything.
The electronic lock system malfunctioned and several times we could not enter the room.
The restaurant was another problem as we first discovered that we were being overcharged for a plate and another time we had to return all the dishes for their poor presentation, dedication and lack of cooking. Also, the restaurant's service is bad in general as we had to insist that we bring dishes and napkins.
In conclusion, I would not return to this hotel for its sloppiness in most aspects that should be taken into account. Beyond that, overall the place is fine.

Too bad such a nice hotel offers a lousy service. Inhuman, I'd say. Maybe that's why it's practically empty. My husband became seriously ill (dehydration and gastrenteritis) during the stay and they lent themselves to NOTHING. Well, yes, they extended our check-out by half an hour. The rest of the time he was offered $35 an hour, an abuse, but that's what it is.
Considering that the taxi was at 16h, we had ahead four hours of waiting without air conditioning for the outside rooms. They also offered the public bathroom, if you needed to vomit and the sofa reception, without air conditioning at 39 degrees by humidity, but with fan, to wait. All very human, as I said.
In addition, we ordered dinner and diet food (chicken and rice) that he did not taste and that we paid for, as appropriate. Only it would have been nice to offer not to charge it instead of asking if you added 15% tip to the bill. Also, the food that came into the room was scattered on the tray. I didn't complain about the latter, totally didn't prove it either. I paid and now.
I'm not coming back or recommending it.

Don't waste time or money.
Reception for eternal check in...zero attention and consideration, we were not allowed to access the dining room until we had no room number.
Which they didn't do for more than an hour because they didn't have a record of the payment made two months before the trip.
We travel with children... lying in wait.
Dining room 1 hour x a basic dish ...3 times I repeat the command x q brought us anything...the meals were never shared with the family.
Bad position.
Poor permanent treatment....differentiated treatment compared to other customers.
We were woken up at 11pm to charge for the dining room...... like we were going to escape the island.
Only a competent person who did all he did was apologize and try to mediate situations.
Thank you Isaac.

Awful trip. The management was very very rude. Hotel manager rolled his eyes at us and was one of the most unpleasant people I’ve ever come across.

They didn’t put us in the upgraded room we paid for, promised a refund and then never paid this. They keep telling booking.com that they will pay the refund, then don’t. On site they offered us a discount on F&B that they forgot to add to our end bill until we reminded them. It was added then added very begrudgingly.

Aside from that, the location is terrible, the service was poor (no water in our room and have to keep chasing them for them to bring it up). There were constant power cuts too and the beach club wasn’t open.

The reception staff were nice, and seemed embarrassed by the behaviour of their manager. The restaurant staff were also nice.

Such a shame as the hotel has some potential, but it’s failing on most fronts. Not a 5 star hotel and the manager does not belong in a client facing role if he treats all guests as we were treated.

I wouldn’t usually leave a review, but after months of trying to get a refund, I have to share my experience as I would hate for anyone to book this for a their well earned holiday, or worse a special occasion like a honeymoon and go through what we did.

The experience at this hotel was not quite what we expected, given its 5 star rating. Upon arrival, we unfortunately noticed yellow stains on the sheets of our bed, for which we had to ask for replacement four times over 48 hours. This was disappointing but the staff eventually addressed the problem, albeit with some delay.

We also discovered that there was sand on the floor of the room, which gave the impression that it had not been thoroughly cleaned. Despite repeated requests, it took some time before this was resolved. We ended up sweeping the floor ourselves to solve the problem.

The behavior of other guests, especially a large group smoking and partying loudly in the pool, somewhat disturbed the peace. Although this was not directly the hotel's fault, it was a shame that the staff did not intervene effectively to manage the situation.

Regarding the facilities, we noticed some defects, such as mold spots and holes in the mattresses at the poolside beds. This is not what we expected from an accommodation of this level. Also the water in the pool did not look clean (sand and sunscreen).

In general, our stay was not quite as hoped, but we understand that there can be setbacks. We hope management takes this feedback to heart and takes steps to improve the experience for future guests.

Despite this disappointment, we were made to feel very welcome by the reception and restaurant staff!

Beautiful hotel and rooms. That's it. Further very poor experience.
Location: the distance from the property to the main and only town area of the island. You can walk it, but you will need to be prepared to walk at least 25 minutes. Roads are sand / mud and not lighted, so bring a torch if you are walking back at night! Taking taxis will be expensive. Hotel communicates that they have bikes but when we were there we could not use them because they were all in maintenance....
Service: You can not run a tab and have to pay for every food or drink immediately.
WiFi: very poor
Mini bar: empty although their website says it's free. When asked they say it is the 2 small bottles of water that are free. No fridge in room. Bring plenty of water/snacks with you before you check in. There is no shop at all in the neighborhood.
Restaurant: poor quality. Free breakfast they offer is limited to a choice of 3 dishes.
Beach: is ok but certainly not great. Much better beach north of town at Playa Holbox.
Other "services": we tried to join the yoga class offered in the morning. No yoga instructor appeared.

Bad attention (on arrival they charged me when they had even SENT me the INVOICE, they asked me for a guarantee when the stay was fully paid.

We arrived at 5 and they did not have the room ready and I commented that we had not eaten all day, that I was traveling with an elderly adult and the only thing he said... was that we had to wait, we could not even enter the restaurant) it took them a while to give us the key 1 hr, the room was not the one contracted,

The room was not cleaned when we requested it to be done, it was dirty ) The person at the reception Allison Nisiqueira went to the trouble of offering us assistance to transfer us to the ferry on our return and the manager Oswaldo never took any action to get us attended to. )

The famous lobster pizza had lobster that looked like sausage and the pasta was super, plus it was cold.

Planning a trip to Margaritaville Holbox - should we concerned about sargassum (seaweed) on the beaches?
Answer from AngeLoughran

No we were there in December and didn't see any, you're right on the beach anyway so lots of shore to walk along to find a nice spot. My only problem with this hotel is you need a very long walk (45-60 mins) along the beach or a taxi (golf cart) everytime you want to eat out, and the restaurant on site is priced like a 5 star hotel anywhere in the world.
