I have been to the Gunnards Head 4/5 times both dinner and lunch and have never been disappointed. Our lunch on Wednesday was no exception - it surprised and delighted in equal measure. What lovely staff too!

Enjoyed an excellent lunch at The Gurnards Head, arriving on a quiet Sun in late November to a packed car park seemed a good indicator and we weren't disappointed. The food was really quite superb, the starters, roast beef and lamb, vegetarian options and desserts were all delicious. The wines in particular were very good, a really interesting selection and... We spent a very relaxing and enjoyable 3 nights at this cosy and friendly pub . After a long drive we were warmly welcomed ( with our 2 dogs ) with a cup of tea. Our room had a king size and very comfortable bed and well equipped en-suite with a large bath. An open fire in the bar area... More

We stayed for three nights in early November with our dog. We'd booked a larger room and it was a little smaller than I had expected, but that was our only concern. This place is simply so relaxing! The staff are very friendly, the room delicious and we felt instantly at home. A lot of emphasis is placed on sustainability... More

So happy to hear you had a good stay with us: you're right it is a fine time of year to be in West Cornwall. I'm sorry if your room was a touch smaller than you expected: we always try to be really clear when describing rooms to guests, but we'll go back to check that we did so in... More

Our cousin and his wife took us to Gurnards Head for lunch, having prebooked a table. It is set in a beautiful location and we had a seat looking out over the sea. The only problem we had with the 3 course menu was that we wanted everything on it as it all sounded so good and it was hard... More

Enjoyed a really good Sunday lunch here with family. I've heard lots of good reports and it definitely lived up to its reputation. We arrived earlier than our booking due to poor weather ruining our plans of a walk so we started off with really good coffees and hot chocolate. Lunch was excellent and reasonably priced (given the quality and... More

Lovely to hear that you had a good lunch with us. Don't worry about arriving early: the best laid plans can be confounded by the Cornish weather. Noted re chicken: we'll tend to have two roasts on each Sunday, which can sometimes be chicken but are more usually beef with one of pork or lamb. We've made a move to... More

So I organised a surprise birthday lunch for my wife and invited two others, I didn't ask prior to our lunch that I wanted any special treatment but boy was I surprised with the attentive staff and their generosity towards my wife. A glass of Prosecco on arrival and a marvellous decorated dessert with decoration all for free. The lunch... More

So pleased to hear everything went perfectly for your wife's birthday. We're normally good at recognising special occasions but had a good kick up the behind earlier this year when we did miss someone's anniversary. It reminded us how important it is to get it right, and it is a particular pleasure to provide to those who don't expect it. More

In spite of being called a hotel and it does have rooms it seems more like a cozy pub. We called for lunch and it was lit with candles as it's quite an old, dark building but lovely. Staff are all very welcoming and helpful. We had our dog with us and he was accepted without any problems. They do... More

The white painted "Hotel" still sits on the roof, but the Cornish weather erodes it little by little. Very happy just to be merely The Gurnard's Head and you've been very kind in pinpointing some of the things that we feel makes it special. Thanks so much. More

Stopped off for lunch with our two very large dogs, the welcome to all four of us(!) was so warm and the food was beyond expectations. I have visited Cornwall many times but sadly this was my first to The Gurnards Head but most definitely won't be my last.

We had a nice Sunday lunch in this very popular pub on top of the cliffs set back from the actual Gurnards Head. We had a pleasant but blustery walk the half mile to the head before lunch. It was completely booked and very busy, we had only booked the day before so had a very small table in the... More
