The location has breathtaking views, lush tropical flowers and a gorgeous little half-moon beach with bar, snacks and chair and umbrella rentals. The water is turquoise, but the waves and undertow are a bit strong. Also it’s crowded in the afternoon when many young surfing learners come here, both tourists and locals. Get there early if you want it quiet.
You must be fit enough to take the long stairway down to the beach and the long stairway in back of the beach to go into town. We had to stop to catch our breath both coming and going, but we are older.
We stayed in Venezia, my husband and me and a single friend. Venezia is a 2Br 1 Bath, the most budget-friendly and the most modest villa, but no matter. There is a shower nearby that my husband used.
Angelica, the daytime desk clerk, took care of our every need and has extraordinary patience. Our friend wanted a makeup mirror and Angelica ordered one pronto; she also got us extra towels. She called us cabs, advised us on captains for an extraordinary whale-watching trip. She even helped our friend in dealing with Aeromexico when our friend couldn’t confirm her boarding pass.
She spoke with the chef at in-site restaurant Espadin to ask if he would cook the dorado (mahi-mahi) my husband caught and never have we had a more delicious seafood meal.

There aren’t enough words for how wonderful this place is. The property is beautiful and so many of the rooms offer amazing views. If you’re in a a room that doesn’t offer a view, there are plenty of spots to enjoy the views on the property with hammocks, lounge chairs, etc. There is a great on site restaurant that is open all day so you can eat breakfast, lunch or dinner there and enjoy the views or you can also get it delivered to the room which is a great option. We enjoyed lots of different delicious meals and drinks in the restaurant and in our room. They also have a lovely pool on site and a private staircase that takes you down to the beautiful Playa Carazalillo. This beach is lovely and one of the few places in the area where you can get in the water since it is more protected from the huge waves. It’s also the best place to take a surfing lesson for this reason. The staff at the Villas are also fantastic, so responsive and helpful in getting whatever is needed to make your stay great. The location is great too as it is an easy walk up to Rinconada which offers a lot of great shops and restaurants as well as an ATM and you can easily take a taxi from there or the hotel and be over to Zicatela or La Punta in about 10 minutes or over to Playa Bacocho in about the same. If you want to be in more of the party zones as far as late night clubs and what not you would be better to stay in Zicatela or La Punta but this area was perfect for us with a great mix of beauty and relaxation and still plenty to do. We will definitely be back!

Loved that the hotel had private access to one of the best beaches in PE, Playa Carrizalillo and that it's a short walk to the Rinconada, with a great variety of restaurants and the walk to Plaza Zicatella is easy, too. The location is great. The food is even better - during our stay we were able to sample breakfast, lunch and dinner and each experience was fantastic, fresh food prepared in innovative ways. The staff was very helpful, arranging excursions for us and keeping in touch via text. I researched the rooms extensively before booking because my husband and I enjoy having a glass of wine at the end of the day on a patio or balcony. We were in Villa Terrazza, which has a large, expansive covered deck with a table and hammocks overlooking the beach. I understand that rooms don't matter for a lot of people, especially if you're going to be out and about, but at this property, some villas are better than others, depending on what you like and who you're traveling with. I think Terraza might be the most private, Puebla's entrance is right across from the entrance to Terraza. Venecia might be the least, with a patio that looks out to the garden area. Villas Escondido is the floor under Terraza. Overall, our trip to PE was made more memorable because of the enjoyment we experienced staying at Villa Carrizalillo.

Just returned from 5 very pleasant night at Villas Carrizalillo. Very comfortable, well equipped rooms directly overlooking Playa Carrizalillo. Great view. Very nice grounds and conveniently located near a number of great restaurants. Easy walk or short cab ride into central Puerto Escondido. Very helpful staff. We had an issue with limited hat water and they quickly forked to resolve the problem. Nice restaurant and bar on site with beautiful view of the beach and ocean, particularly at sunset. This place was exactly what we were looking for.

This hotel has a beautiful view of Carrizalillo bay and the surfers below. Although basic in decor, the room was comfortable and the great A/C and bed made for a good night sleep. The view from our balcony and from the adjoining restaurant really made our stay more magical. The service at the restaurant was usually pretty good and Marda was excellent. The restaurant had good food but the food and drink menu was limited and they sometimes didn’t have everything that was on it. The communication from the hotel was excellent. We would stay here again if visiting again.

This is truly a luxury retreat experience. The staff are incredible, the rooms and views are second to none and it is the most wonderful way to getaway from everything, turn off devices for a few days and relax. Cannot recommend high enough!

Just be aware that there is wifi available, however our experience was that it did not extend to most common areas or our room. Although slightly unexpected, it did not impact our experience and really forced us to soak up the beach and relaxation experience.

We stayed in the Colorada room. Highly recommended as it’s huge, very private and has incredible views and a lovely balcony.

It’s below the restaurant, which wasn’t a problem at all, except at the beginning and end of breakfast and dinner it sounds like they have to do move something heavy or beat something, which creates noise for about five minutes. Overall not a big deal unless you’re super sensitive.

Service at both the reception and restaurant was excellent. The food and drink quality at the restaurant was very high - it gets visitors from outside the hotel.

Also the hotel is a short walk from a very cute strip with tons of food options and a supermarket.

Only downsides, we went in June and the humidity and heat was brutal. Also if you care about consistent WiFi then this isn’t the place for you

Staff cooking & other personnel were not using facemasks! Watiters attitude ther worst I have ever seen. No one cares about COVID-19. The day we left Puerto Escondido authorities were closing restaurants and beaches due to a new increase in contagions. One of the best views I ever seen though.

I do not recommend this hotel during COVID-19, staff do not seem to care.

We returned for a 2nd, week long visit to Villas Carrizalillo and it remains as stunning as the 1st visit.

Keep in mind, this boutique villa is comfortable without being over the top luxury... The view is one of the very best we've enjoyed in our world travels.

The gardens are beautiful. The atmosphere is tranquil. The team is quality.

Loved the panoramic view from our room, Escondido.

Easy 10 minute walk to the rinconida for a variety of restaurants, a few retail clothing stores and a few grocery items.

You must walk or taxi into the main town and you will enjoy the large local market and many wonderful, inexpensive food options.

We hope to return again and again as i hope the travelers and the locals work together to maintain the natural beauty and cultural integrity.

Small boutique resort overlooking the prettiest swimming beach in the area. The wonderful staff adds to the appeal of the place. A bit off the beaten path, but easy and cheap to get taxi into town. Each of the rooms are different, so look at their website before making your choice. All but 3 have kitchens, many have fabulous views of the little bay. Ours had a large outdoor patio with a dining area and hammocks. Short walk to the beach where you meet the boats for fishing charters. Be aware that there is a long steep set of 132 stairs to get to the beach. We had a very relaxing stay here!
Although we loved our visit, there were a couple of things that could use improvement. One is purely aesthetic, the kitchen countertop in our Terrazzo unit was plain grey concrete which made the kitchen look drab and unfinished. Some nice tile over the concrete would improve the visual appeal immensely! Second, the wicker chairs on the patio were very uncomfortable so we only used the dining chairs for seating.
