This was our first vacation at a Club Med, myself, my husband and our 23 month old son. We enjoyed the resort, it is beautiful, kept immaculately clean and relaxing.
We stayed in the Muneca building, it is a great location, close to the beach...More
We just returned from our vacation in Club Med, Ixtapa. The best vacation ever. We were a group of 16 family and friends. The grounds are beautiful. There is a long stretch of beautiful beach with plenty of lounges. There is always something going on,...More

If you're planning a family vacation at Club Med, Cancun Club Med is far and away a better choice than Ixtapa. Parents at Ixtapa are banished from archery, trapeze, and the climbing wall until 4 P.M. so that children can use the equipment all day....More

Yes, the resort exchanges currency but the rate isn't that great. We found locals preferred pesos more than the US dollar, so we exchanged at home, but ran out and found it better to go to a local Mexican bank (take a taxi) to exchange more for best rate. I'd say as far as packing, plan cool, breathable and active clothing options. It was quite hot and humid and we wound up changing often after active activities, so extra clothes or maybe even detergent to wash may be a good idea. Bring an all white outfit for white night, something tropical, neon colored, Mexican colored, to go along with weekly themes. This is optional of course. If you have kids bring a backpack for them to keep sun block, a hat, bathingsuit, change of clothes, if they will be going to mini club. Also bring a plain white t- shirt for them to tie dye on Friday.
Have fun, I cant wait to go back.

There is an enclosed bar around the pool area. We never used it, but only went inside to get drinks, which we took outside and sat on the patio area. I did notice that a smll buffett was set up inside this room before dinner. This was an air conditioned area, but not particular intimate. There were tables and comfy chairs on the patio, which we preferred. Hope this is helpful.
