I really enjoyed staying at this hotel. I stayed in a room next to the reception area which was really large. All the room had a mosquito net and air conditioning. Some even had hot showers.

The hotel had wifi and there were big comfy sofas in the lobby to relax on and chat with the very friendly hotel staff. They even ironed a shirt for me without charge. The breakfast was decent and if I go back to Makeni I would stay there again.

This structure is more an hotel than a guesthouse. Rooms are sufficiently clean ad have fridge, mosquito nets and balcony, The air conditioning did not work in my room, so they move me in another room where it was barely working. Staff is lazy. Wifi is free and has a good coverage. Breakfast was very basic. Not expensive, given the prices in the country

a bit out of town centre the hotels caters for the needs of any traveler. Rooms are ok, aircon working, balkonies with most rooms, Breakfast basic, and you have to tell them waht you want..otherwise something is coming. the veranda is nice for breakfast, but rather small, i.e risk to fall with your chair. Internet works as good as anywhere in Makeni. but friendly, little bar area with TV.., what else do you want for 50 US$

I stayed at Makama Lodge while in Makeni for the Street Child Sierra Leone Marathon. The staff were very accomodating, carrying my bags to my room, going out to the market to find bananas for us, getting ice, etc. The hotel is basic, of course - this is Africa, and the locals are living in shacks just outside the gates of the Lodge. But the air conditioning worked well, running water in the bathroom and the shower was good (just don't drink the tap water), the room was clean, there's an in-room fridge and balcony. Mosquito nets are provided over the beds. Wifi is available down in the breakfast room / porch, but it's not strong enough to reach the rooms. Some nights it was a bit noisy (my room was on the back of the building, and there were some local parties going on), so I'd suggest requesting a room that faces the Reception. Breakfast was simple but tasty - normally a couple of pieces of toast, a boiled egg or omelette, and some fruit; plus coffee. The Lodge is a little way from the centre of town, but walkable in about 15 mins; not so easy at night as there aren't street lamps near the Lodge and the roads are not tarmac. Overall, a very comfortable stay. The electricity went off twice during my 5 day stay, but came back on quickly; the water occasionally went off, but the staff were good at switching it back on.

This place felt more likes staying with friends and family than a hotel. It had all the amentities of a good African hotel, en-suite, fridge in room, excellent air con, spacious rooms, gorgeous balcony and best of all excellent wi-fi. But the staff gave it that extra touch , nothing was too much trouble and they dealt with everything with a gorgeous smile on their faces. Would definately return
