I am writing this review on our first day here, because I have already made up my mind about this place. It's fantastic, so peaceful, beautifully furnished and laid out accommodation, thoughtful owners (we even had a fresh carton of milk in our fridge when we arrived, for that much needed coffee after a long drive here). The pub opposite (the 3 horseshoes) is approximately 30 seconds from our front gate, does great food and is a lovely family pub. £80 for 3 starters, 3 main courses and 6 alcoholic drinks... two of which were doubles, so 8 really. So far, apart from wanting to live here, we are planning our next trip to stay here. Well priced also. Great Sandy beach in Barry, 10 mins drive away.

What a nice place!
Our Family (2 Adults and 3 Kids) enjoyed the stay in this comfortable, quiet and beautiful House.
The Kids were allowed to feed the fishes and loved to play in the yard.
We also enjoyed our meals at the terrace.

We booked the Anchorage rather late for a couple of nights as a family of 5, 2 adults and 3 children.

The house was beautifully clean, the kitchen very well equipped, lovely touches of tea, coffee, etc oh and the chocolates on arrival.

The garden area lovely with area to sit and enjoy the rural location. Extremely happy and would highly recommend!

I had made a booking in the middle of last year through booking.com for christmas 2021. I then recieved an email a couple of days later saying my booking had been cancelled. But I hadn't cancelled it.

I contacted Simon to reinstate the booking he said he couldn't and to contact booking.com.
He then had a booking that had dropped into the vacancy left by the cancellation.

Booking.com said it was a glitch on the computer . No one could give me any explanation. This had never happened to me before.

We were left with no accommodation and a new search for somewhere to stay.
Two months later I checked on Simons own hosting website and the accommodation had become available again.
This time we booked directly and with my husbands details.
At no point did we think the same thing could happen twice. It had!

We had confirmation emails credit card details taken.
The booking had been cancelled.
It was only a chance phone call by my husband asking about pets. Did we find out. Again the property was booked by someone else and he refused to cancel their stay.

Confused and disappointed the explanation from Simon was again completely disingenuous. We were offered a property 2 hours drive away. We explained after 2 years of not seeing family due to the pandemic, we needed to be situated in this area.
Again we were left without accommodation during the Christmas period. Our treatment was incredibly poor and disatisfying.

Thankfully it ended well and we found an amazing property.

I won't be trying for a third time to book this property we all know how its going to end!

We decided to choose the Tackleshed for a couple of nights as an alternative to a hotel following our recent flight to Cardiff Airport (2 miles), as we prefer having more space and the flexibility to cater for ourselves. We were bowled over with the quality, design and amenities of the Tackleshed and the helpful way the owner handled our direct online booking, extremely late arrival and request for late check out. We had a very relaxing weekend exploring South Wales and loved chilling in the comfortable premises set in a lovely rural location, enjoying the smart TV and surround sound. A simply idyllic spot where you can relax and wind down in the countryside! Would recommend to anybody who appreciates quality and attentive service
