We had booked this hotel for our daughters wedding at the adjacent church. The location is awesome, the food first rate and the service exceptional. Views from most rooms either to the mountains or the estuary are great, the isolation is spine chilling.

The location is exceptional and ideal for a retreat or sightseeing. The staff is extremely kind, helpful and professional. The food simply excellent. Rooms are comfortable and nice while sober. Still this is a 3 hours drive from the capital so pretty much isolated.

Apologies for not writing this review sooner! We stayed at the start of April. The location itself was up there with the best we stayed in Iceland. The decor of the public areas downstairs is very nice, and the views spectacular. We were disappointed with the rooms however. The first room we were given was pretty basic, with a broken...

This was our first stop after Rekjavik on a tour around Iceland, and the hotel was a delight. The furnishings were warm and welcoming and the lounge had a 360 degree view of the inlet which was absolutely breathtaking. It was the perfect place to relax, reflect and watch the wildlife. This hotel is reknowned for its culinary excellence and...

Located on one of the most beautiful spots on earth! Overlooking the sea, river and waterfall. The hotel rooms are cosy and beautifully decorated. Meals were of the highest standard and the staff very friendly. What a wonderful experience!

The hotel is lovely and cozy with small sitting areas throughout the hotel - good for playing cards, watching a movie, chatting with each other or other guests, or cozying up by either of the 2 fireplaces. From what I could tell, each room is slightly different, but each with amazing views of the ocean and/or the old church next...

What a wonderful experience, the entire staff was at our disposal. Breakfast was delicious, a wide variety of fresh fruits, breads, cold meats and cheeses and eggs, and so on. Wait staff was also pleasant and competent. Our room was a good size with a great layout and blackout curtains (you will need them in the summer). Location of the...

Will only got to stay at Hotel Budir for one night but it was one of highlights of our 10 day trip to Iceland. The location is one of the most beautiful spots in Iceland and is completely isolated. Our room was on the top floor and had high vaulted ceilings and great views of the glacier. The staff was...

If you enjoy lodging in a place with LOTS of charm and character (and a few minor quirks) this is the place for you! The two rooms we had were completely different in so many ways, but both were fun, unique and memorable. The sitting areas are very nice as well. Also, the views are absolutely spectacular with great hiking...

This hotel is self-described as luxury which is a bit of an overstatement. It is, however, very comfortable and we had a great room on the ground floor overlooking the water and waterbirds in the foreground and the mountains in the distance. Restaurant is also not fantastic but more than adequate - the lobster soup was especially fine.
