My partner wanted to see blackpool illuminations so we decided to stay overnight and see the lakes as well as a bit of a treat. It was also our first stay in a hotel with the dogs. Our room was in the small separate building on the ground floor which was great with the dogs as it was so easy...

Stunning venue. Massive gardens to walk through, can imagine it being a great wedding venue. Our room was on the top floor kept extremely tidy, bed was comfy and big enough space to loose the other half (not a bad thing) central location to some beautiful locations. Has a restaurant looks clean and tidy but didn't get to try any...

A nice hotel although a little tired in communal areas. Rooms are of a nice quality and staff are very friendly. The food is very good and served in a formal dining room. Grounds lovely. An ideal stay if your a Sellafield visitor.

We came up for a wedding on the weekend in the marquee. We booked a room for the night and it cost £110 B&B. We didn't want breakfast but there was no option without. We ended up in the annex at the back of the hotel and the room was really nice, really clean with loads of extras. We had...

I came here with my mum and our three dogs for a little mini break. When we arrived we were shown to our lovely large and spacious room in a separate building from the hotel. It was perfect as we were on the ground floor and just outside the main door was a large grass area for the dogs. We...

Room was spacious and clean and the reception warm. Breakfast lovely and grounds are lush. Ideal quiet mini break. 1 hour away from the lakes but scenic drive there and lots of walks available. Beautiful wee village just down the road too. Worth a visit if you want a quiet weekend away.

Made a booking for 10 last week. When we arrived, they were not expecting us and there was a slight mix-up with our orders. No table cloths on table, no bread offered, incorrect wine brought first time, but starters were OK. Main meal was really poor - duck was frazzled and steak was very tough. The person in charge tried...

I've now visited 3 times over 3 years and the level of consistency of service and quality astounds me. This hotel has history, location and outstanding quality throughout. The staff are warm, the location lush and green with a great selection of local beers!. I may just have to look for a second home nearby for the food and grounds.
