Our recent stay this week August 12 2014. Was a night mare we will never forget. We had booked a family room only to get a double room with camp bed. Bath room had blocked sink with black stuff ouesing out at back. At one in the morning camp bed calapsed, grand son not injured, told manager who them moved...

We are very sorry that these issues occurred during this guest's stay. There was clearly a mix up on our booking system, which was really the root of the problem. Unfortunately, things got worse not better. It was unfortunate although we were happy to refund the cost of the guest's stay and will certainly learn from this.

What a disappointment! We picked up a stay on Travelzoo and having known of the Damson Dene for years, thought it would be good to try it. We were very disappointed. The hotel looked as if it needed loving - it needs a great deal of attention. Our rooms were tiny, and there was dirt on the windowsills and even...

Sometimes as soon as a guest walks on, you know there is going to be a problem. That was the case for this reviewer. It is not that we think ourselves above criticism or anything like that, but if you visit a hotel to seek out its flaws, you are bound to find a few. Nowhere is perfect and we...

This was a TravelZoo deal for two nights. Very friendly and in a wonderful setting but the room was just adequate and not well maintained, but you get what you pay for I suppose. Ideal spot for using a base to discover some of the Lake District. Meals were good and reasonably well presented, buffet breakfast and all you could...

We stayed here to attend a family wedding - not held in the hotel - the rooms are small, but they are clean and well furnished although the beds feel a bit small. The bar is well stocked and service was always quick and courteous. The definite highlight has to be the food, whilst the service was a little hit...

Thank you for your nice review. Your comments about our food were well received along with the comments about our staff. We're very sorry that the tv took on a life of its own during your stay, but we're pleased to have been able to sort it quickly for you. We're delighted you would visit us again and we hope...

Every time we stay the staff are very friendly and helpful. We choose our room before we arrive so no complaints, but would guess that some rooms do not have a very nice view though. As always the food is excellent, well prepared, cooked, served and nicely presented (and hot plates where appropriate). We like the location - it suits our...

Sited 6 miles south of Windermere this country hotel in the Lyth Valley has much going for it. The gardens and heron's pond ( we did see two herons landing one evening), are very attractive and the food and service was exceptionally good. However, our room (28), was a disaster. Very small with a small window view over the interior...

Thank you for your review. We will have to take the good with the bad on it, and you have given us some good tips on where we can improve. We have a selection of rooms of varying sizes and views on offer with some more popular than others. We have regular fire inspections and have never had any issues...

Very nice hotel. Restaurant food was lovely. Gardens stunning (excellent grounds man) and lots of wildlife. The room we had was spotless but view from room 25 left a lot to be desired. What the view lacked in character the staff certainly made up for. We did the quiz which was hosted by the staff and really enjoyed this. Loved...

Thanks so much for your nice review. The gardens do look particularly nice after a summer of (mostly) sunshine. We liked your comments about our staff as well. We are busy training some new people on reception, so that we appreciate your patience at the time. Thanks again!

We stayed 2 nights with our dog. The room was small but we didn't need much space anyway. Reception staff not particularly welcoming but bar and restaurant staff would take some beating, very helpful. The food was very good. It is an older hotel so we got what we expected. Wi-Fi intermittent, no connection most of the time, but we...

Hi and thanks for your review. We really appreciate your lovely comments about your stay including our staff in the restaurant and the quality of our food. We're in the beginning stages of replacing our WiFi system, so hopefully if you were to to visit again, you wouldn't have to blame the mountains for poor signal! Thanks again.
