I came here to kick off a multi-week vacation in Oaxaca with five much needed, serious decompression days on a to die for beach. The location was postcard worthy, lots of sunsets and moon rises ... crystal blue water and clean to boot. The food was also incredible, and we ate every night shoe-less on the beach, under the stars....

We were there during 4 nights and absolutely fell in love with this hotel. Heavenly environnement, beautiful cabanas and really nice staff. Everyone in the hotel was very welcoming. The cabanas are simple but charming and functional. The view from the cabanas is also wonderful. We really enjoyed the beach, and you can borrow paddle board, kayak and snorkeling attire,...

We had a wonderful time at Bahia de la Luna celebrating a special birthday with a group of close friends. We were very well taken care of and couldn't have been happier anywhere else. The privacy of the little bay is unparalleled along this stretch of the Oaxaca coast and although the drive in is daunting, do not be deterred....

We spent two nights last weekend at Bahia de Luna to close our almost 7 weeks beach experience along the Mexican Atlantic coast (from the Nayarit Coast all the way to Puerto Escondido, Zipolite and Huatulco). As one recent review well says, this place is not for everybody but, if you read thru the comments well and check their website...

Thanks for your review. I agree with you regarding bar service under the palapas and promise we will work on improving it. When you're in a hammock or lounging under a papaya, you should NEVER have to break the spell! We'll be better next time. Jorge

Just back Mexico. Five days at the beach and 4 days in Mexico City. It's been 8 years since I have been to Mexico. I'm always surprised how rustic it is, and then the country comes alive for me. Why did it take me so long to return to Bahia de la Luna? It's about an hour from the airport,...

We’ve just returned from an unforgettable week at this utterly magical place. There are few unspoiled places in the world, and this one is mind-blowing. HOWEVER: It’s not for everyone. Since a lot people don’t seem to read the website or watch the video, here’s what you need to know up front: No A/C; No hot water; No pool; No...

We loved our stay at Bahia de la Luna! We only wished we had more time to stay longer! We stayed in Aries which was WAY up on the hill but we enjoyed walking up the stairs (it was fun) and the view was amazing! We loved the gourd lights they had along the pathways. It was very relaxed and...

Hidden amongst the steep jungle-clad headlands to the east of Puerto Angel is a beautiful little bay with a steep golden beach and clear calm waters. Playa La Boquilla ! Dear Nigel, A flattering review from a travel professional is especially appreciated, and where one might have expected your extensive travels to have given you a jaded viewpoint, it seems just the opposite. The food in the restaurant is very good. The beach is clean and the water delightful. Kayaks and snorkel gear is available to use. There is a local beach to pick shells in. There are beautiful tropical fish in the water.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Nestled among the rugged cliffs and dense tropical vegetation of Oaxaca’s Pacific coast is La Boquilla, a protected cove of white sand and still turquoise water. Virtually untouched by development, this pristine and secluded location – where osprey circle lazily over a silent beach – is the perfect setting for vacationers seeking a truly unique retreat experience.Protected by small islets and tall headlands the crescent beach provides a perfect setting for those vacationers seeking a truly unique retreat, for those who would rather hear the whisper of a gentle fan than the whirr of the air conditioner; for those who prefer snorkel and a sea kayak to the roar of a jet ski; for those who wish to practise yoga and sunrise meditation in an eco-sensitive environment and yet appreciate the best of fresh, natural, local foods & international wines in an exquisite water side setting, this may be the place you have always sought... ... more   less
